🎈Method 1 is to use chkdsk command.
First, open the command prompt in admin mode.
And then, type the command chkdsk.
For me, my error drive is F, so continuously I type f: /r /f.
So this command will fix the error of drive f.
Then hit enter.
🎈Method 2 is to use diskpart command.
Open the command prompt first.
Type diskpart, and hit enter.
And list disk. hit enter.
It will show you all disks on your computer.
Find your error disk, then type select disk 1.
Type clean, and convert gpt
If the error is still here, you may need to format this disk.
Type create partition primary.
And then format quick fs=ntfs
It will format the volume.
Next type assign
Finally, type exit.

Choose Data Recovery.
Select formatted disk.
Click Scan.
You can choose the types you want to recover.
Then Click Scan Selected File Type.
Find your data, and select it.
You can preview it, then click recover.

*chkdsk* is designed to check and repair issues on already formatted and initialized disks. For an uninitialized disk, you need to initialize and format it first using tools like Disk Management in Windows or diskpart command before running chkdsk.

@@ZeUS-nr1qt Non initialized disk IS usually a hardware failure and can't do much unless you are a very technical person who can desolder eprom using hot gun and get the revelant chips online.

@@slickityragnarthegreat Actually the backup should only contain data e.g game data(save game), key code, reg. code, personal data, etc. Others (programs. games etc) can usually be redownloaded. I have dl thousands of movies and series over the years but i don't even watch 1/10 of them and the same also for the game i've download, I play only a few. In the end it just taking up spaces. Recently I delete tons of movie! Why? Because I found the movie I kept was only 480p or 720p while even youtube quality is better the mine. same as game quality where last time we play seem fine but now we find it patchy and crude.
How do you know if there's now drive letter populated or if it was an old C drive and you already have a new c drive....these videos never seem to duplicate the actual problem entirely
So sorry for that! 😭 You can also check on disk manager, there will be a RAW drive if you don't assign the letter to Drive, you click on it, it will show you which Disk the RAW drive is located.
Warning to those who follow these steps, step 2 will format the whole drive. I found this out to late. My disc would have been saved if i did not follow these steps, now most of my data is lost.
I'm so sorry to hear that! Formatting hard drive is the last method that we can solve this problem. But it will erase all data from it, please make sure to back up all important data. If you unfortunately lose data, you can also try 4DDiG Data Recovery😭😭
The CLOWN also doesn't address that most unallocated drives in Disk management does NOT have an assigned Letter, and you can NOT add one! Pretty much a Clown show here!
@@selmonb921 Yep that's what I just commented about. How did he pick F: if in everyone's case it just shows Disk 2..etc? Mine is an old C: Drive M.2 I wanted to reuse and Ihave it in an external enclosure plugged in and getting this error. If I put C: drive since it was an old one I'd end up errasing my current C drive!

You can't use check disk if the disc is unknown because if the disc is unknown it doesn't have a drive letter
my drive isn't showing up in the this PC section. I tried to clean it and that worked but making partition it fails. and in the create and format hard disk partitions it says unknown not initialized when I try to initialize it says Request Failed Due to a Fatal Device Hardware Error

I had the same issue after 5 years since i bought my pc. just remove hard drive, unscrew bolts that are fixing small circuit board from back of hard drive and clean all pins and contacts where pins land. i've used an eraser and ears cotton stick and some alchool. After restart hard drive appeared again with all info's that were there
can i clean w/o alcohol?

Hi, it maybe a RAW drive. You can format the drive in NTFS or FAT32 or exFAT, and see if the drive turns to normal status

Hi! You could try to format this volume(drive) on My PC. Right clicking it, select format, and choose the File System and Quick Format. Make sure to back up the data early if for any chance you can open the drive.

Hi! The drive is a part of the disk, for example, Disk 0 can be separated by C Drive and D Drive, even more you can also create a E drive for the rest of space in Disk 0, if there is an unallocated space. (My C drive is in Disk 1 though) I suppose Drive F is the removable disk, so you may recognize Drive F by checking whether the Drive F space is same as Disk 1 or 2 or 3 blablabla. And furthermore, inside the each Disk bar, there should be some letters.😃

1. you can try run a command prompt in admin mode, and diskpart again.
2. Remove Write Protection on the Hard Disk
Open up your start menu and click "Run"
Type regedit in the box.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
Click the "WriteProtect" key and change the value to 0.

Un-plug your DVD drive and use those cables to plug in your HDD or SDD. Your PC should be able to actually read the hard drive.
