Beautiful craftsmanship sir, simply outstanding. I would appreciate knowing exactly what thread that is you're using. If you could help, and perhaps tell me where I could purchase it I would be most grateful. Thank you.
I'd love to get a tutorial on a round box like this! My dad's an architect, and I could see him using a taller version of this to carry around blueprints.
Hi Nigel, I'm in the process of making a cylinder shaped tool kit to hang off the back of a Brooks bicycle saddle and a question came to mind, so here I am. I Just finished watching your Box Stitching video, and now this one, wonderful workmanship by the way, but didn't see the answer I was looking for, so here it is. When making the holes for the round end pieces, I don't believe they will marry-up with the holes made in the edges of the leather that will wrap around the end pieces, due to the differences in their circumferences. (Hopefully that makes some sense.) How do you deal with that problem? Would you just double up on some some of your stitches, or is there another technique to use? Thank you by the way for the awesome videos you have produced, they have been a great help. Cheers, Fred
Can we please have a tutorial video and pattern set for round boxes? I'd be very happy to pay for the patterns...the other ones I've bought from you are outstanding, especially in combination with your tutorial videos. Thank you...
Beautiful piece! I'm wondering about the box stitch technique in particular. Does the needle come through the leather from the middle of it, so that it isn't seen from the inside? Other than that, it looks like a basic saddle stitch, am I right?
Beautiful workmanship. I want to make a round fly rod case. Would I follow what you did in this video with the exception of the fact it would have to be much longer? I want to tool the leather, which would have to be done before sewing it. So, would I need to trace all the points....let me ask if you would consider making one for me? Maybe you would consider making a video on how to do that. I fear it would be too much for a person with limited leather skills. Thanks.
Hi Nigel. Do you sharp it? I have Osborne 609-8. it doesn't sharp and it is so hard to make holes for stitching. I know that it is for marking, not for making holes.
Nice....I stumble upon this video wondering if a craftsman could make a leather cap for my Great Great Grandfathers leather fly rod case. This looks like it would be the exact procedure. Are you still working?
Please, please, please, could we have a more in-depth tutorial on how to stitch the bottom round piece of leather in place. I have a few projects in mind that an in-depth tutorial would greatly benefit from.
How did you lay out your holes for the box stich on the top? Since the circumference of the outside is larger than the circumference of the circle on the top part you end up with more holes on the outside than you do on the top.
I would like to reiterate olisar1979's question: I have watched carefully the bit about stitching on the end cap, and I was wondering if you are actually piercing those holes at an angle, or what? And, is there a way to get the correct number of holes, other than actually doing the math?
What I normally do for my messenger bags is start at one end, punch one set of holes, put the side next to the top where I started make sure the side is lined up perfectly then match the holes, punch it, then alternate going around each piece making sure that when I punch one side I then move and punch to the next especially when going around corners this way I know the holes will line up
I'm a DIY guy, so I reluctantly gave a thumbs down. Because this isn't a tutorial or a how to, and I guess the author did mean this at all. I enjoyed the guitar music, and the skilled leather stitching. Yes it's a fine looking piece of work, that's for sure, but where's detail? Keep on stitching everybody, the more you stitch the more you learn, and I've got a lot more to learn. Semper Fi
Beautiful work! Reminds me of the cases my dad had for all his camera lenses and his old 35mm camera. I always marveled at the workmanship in those.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL work Nigel!
Nigel,
You are truly a Master of your craft; simplistic, yet intricate in it's detail...want to be like you when I grow up!

Блин, ну наконец-то хоть одного увидел, который каждый стяжок стягивает руками! Лайк!

Your videos are amazing! Thank you! Are you using a Dixon #6 or #7 in this video for the round leather box?
Thank you.
