      The leather scraps are still good for making similar projects but any sewing and I would suggest investing into a stitching pony if it's something you want to get into. Oh! One more thing. I would suggest looking around garage and yard sales for old leather jackets.

    • @TheLeathersmithShop
      @TheLeathersmithShop 2 года назад +2

      If you're in the US, check out Springfield Leather online. You can buy almost every leather they have by the square foot, even veg tan. And they have various thicknesses/grade of leather so you can save or spend more, depending on your project. Great way to get some bigger pieces without breaking the bank.

    • @danielthompson6207
      @danielthompson6207 2 года назад

      Start a leather fund where you set aside the money you'd spend on a bag of scraps and let it build until you've got enough for a roll of veg tan. For instance, I can get a bag of scraps from Hobby Lobby for about $13 or a roll of veg tan for around $60, both depending on whether or not there's a leather sale at the time (about once a month at the store in my area.)
      I forego buying a bag of scraps for a month and I've got enough for the roll of veg tan and maybe a decent punch depending on what else I cut out through the month. You can do it, don't let yourself be the obstacle!
