I loved their first two albums. There seems to have been different versions for the US and overseas releases. This is the version I know. Thanks for posting.
A good choice for starting with the mandolin! The chords are full of open strings and not so difficult to learn by ear. But I find this piece incredibly difficult to si ng. But it's worth trying it anyway.
I found myself in silver dreams I'm talking in my sleep to pawns & queens Outspoken words You know they just don't mean the same thing Somebody must be kiddin' me Somebody must be lying to me Oh please don't tell me Which is red and which is black When are you coming back to me babe Oh when are you coming back to me babe I saw myself in checkered lands I even dreamt I was the knight in command The bishop screamed `Don't horse around boy'
Great beautiful genius music - I cant help feeling a big Gabriel-Era Genesis influence on this track though. Maybe it was the other way around?!? perfectly possible!
Somebody must be kiddin' me Somebody must be lying to me And please don't tell me I'm losing my way You promised me everything now, didn't you babe? You promised me everything now, didn't you babe?
Titus and Sweet Dreams, both Phil Judd gems, are my favorite Split Enz songs. Sheer genius.
Mental Notes was two of the best albums ever made.
so true bro, i wish more albums had two or more versions, this is my favourite version of titus of the two.
Beautiful song - so heartfelt. Broken innocence.
Pure genius music....introducing some serious musicians to the world!

I bought a mandolin this weekend. This is the first song that could think to learn. I have most of it down. It's sooooooo tasty!!!!!!!!

I love the Mervyn Peake references and the orchestral musings...
this is unique, like a beautiful flower..strange, surrealistic
Never heard their early stuff before...very nice and quirky. Reminds me of Family and Audience, 2 more bands that were overlooked in the past.
When Phil Judd was in the band they were brilliant.
I had a crush on Phil Judd when I was a teenager :-)
I found myself in silver dreams

You know they just don't mean the same thing
Somebody must be kiddin' me
Somebody must be lying to me
Oh please don't tell me
Which is red and which is black
When are you coming back to me babe
Oh when are you coming back to me babe
I saw myself in checkered lands
I even dreamt I was the knight in command
The bishop screamed `Don't horse around boy'
deep meaningful lyrics...makes one think.
Grande canzone ! Quando l'ascoltavo per la prima volta era definita "punk" !

Somebody must be kiddin' me
Somebody must be lying to me
And please don't tell me
I'm losing my way
You promised me everything now, didn't you babe? You promised me everything now, didn't you babe?
I just got to your comment while listening when those words came on :)
Phil Judd
Reminds me of the Peter Gabriel Genesis era.
they wish they were half as deep as Split Enz on songs like this
