In the DiC version, Ami/Amy and Makoto/Lita both focused their frustration entirely on Rei/Raye for what she did to cause Usagi/Serena to start crying. The Viz version has Ami and Mako both dividing their frustrations between both Usagi, for crying over something so trivial, and Rei, for making her cry to begin with. It's kind of interesting how the Western anti-bullying sentiment (barely in its infancy in 1995, when the DiC dub first aired) guided the DiC screenwriters in this scene.
All the more reason why DIC RULES! Amy and Lita made a point... all Rei had to do was calmly explain to Serena/Usagi that making fun of her grandpa is wrong. And I DO mean calmly.

ViZ sticks to the original anime, which is good, but DiC and CWi had some sick burns. Don't get me wrong though, the original humor of the anime was awesome too.

To be honest, that line was way more funnier in the dic dub version. As cheesy as the old 90's dub was, I really loved the dialogue in the dic dub way more than the viz dub version.
Both English dubs are good in their own right, but the Viz Media dub is what I'd prefer. I don't hate the DiC dub, it's just that I felt bad for the company being forced to censor that show. I get that anime shows were in their infancy when it was first localized in English, but those strict policies were a low blow. I say low blow because Optimum Productions was really unkind to anime for American audiences. It happened because production companies had to deal with strict censorship laws and I think the strict censorship was a low blow in my opinion.
Wow, DiC dub made Ami snap possibly even more so than when she slapped Usagi in episode 45... I think DiC overdid it here, cause Ami is supposed to be the shy and quiet type. Would've been better if Mako had said that instead...

While Viz Media maybe a bit too far forcing people to delete clips from previous English dubs of Sailor Moon, they didn't like the heavy censorship that was put by Optimum Productions back then. Deep down, they felt sorry for Americans having to watch a watered down version of Sailor Moon just because it had a lot of content that was too weird for kids. The company I felt bad for forcing the censorship to the DiC and Cloverway dubs of Sailor Moon is Optimum Productions. Despite this, I'm happy Sailor Moon got localized in English. I'd say that the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon is the best English dub of Sailor Moon. Sure, the Viz Media dub is a carbon-copy of the Japanese original, but that's the way it was meant to be handled in the first place.
Sarena and Rei fighting each other was a comedy classic about this show, one of my most favorite parts about this show, too bad the remake of this show Sailor Moon Crystal airbrushed Sarena and Rei's very comedic enmity just to make Sailor Moon Crystal way more boring and way less funny! Sarena's not even a goofy crybaby in Sailor Moon Crystal and she's not even wacky or goofy at all. She's very unfunny and very not like Sarena at all. She even admires Rei and looks up to Rei, even going as far as calling Rei the most beautiful girl of all the sailor scouts like what the hell?! but anyways, it's also very rare to see Ami get mad. DiC sounds bad... All I'll say is... Nostalgia is one hell of a drug. I prefer the Vizdub by far. Thankfully Ive learned to speak Japanese as a third language over the passed few years so I'll usually go with that over both.
