do you think a 10 % stiffer chase will address the lower scores by iihs in the UPDATED moderate overlap test and UPDATED side test, the forester went from "G" to "A" and "M", so what changes did subaru make to 2025 to help up the current iihs score?
That open road made the 0-60 test look like it was going nowhere.
That's cause it wasn't 😂
I have a Forester. It’s faster than you think. It’s faster than a turtle that’s for sure… but slower than (insert anything here).
That was pathetic lol
That was embarrassing 🤣
And sounded like my lawnmower while going nowhere 😄
2:30 the truck going past at light speed lol
That 0-60 run was painful to watch.
Im a bit surprised 😅 I took a 24 out for a test drive yesterday and loved it! And it didnt feel slow or sluggish at all. (May be because im coming from a 2001 VW new beetle). I loved driving it far more than the '22' rav4, the upper trim '24' outback, and while not as premium or smooth as the CR-V, more fun.
+Its the only one under 40k where i am.
Ive narrowed my list between the CRV, Rav4, forester. And fluttering the idea of splurging for a hybrid.
At least my list is down to 3+, instead of 10. 😅
My god that was my first time hearing a CVT transmission and that was just awful. Will never get a CVT in my life.
I could never own one either . . just having one "gear" doesn't sound right when accelerating from a stop at all.
@@chadmark88 exactly!
This is actually how I wish my Nissan CVT worked, instead it puts in fake shift points and feels like a regular transmission. This is less efficient though.
I truly hate the CVT in my 2014 Forester, it's one of the worst cars I've ever owned. It makes a bunch of noises along with whinning noises at high rpms... it doesn't help that the previous owner never changed the transmission fluid and I just did it for the first time on the car, but like still... we don't want these transmissions. I could go on a whole rant about how my forester had made me never want to own one again, but that's for another day. (Just be ready to top off the oil a ton]. I'm planning on trading it in on a Mazda CX-5 or Honda Passport.
@@coolcarz-nf5tj I think the Passport will be the clear winner BUT it's going to cost you an arm and leg more than this smaller class. Be sure to take a look at the Rogue too, which I've had over 2 years. Doesn't burn a drop of oil and is quiet and very responsive.
Tell the truth guys... the power in the 2025 Forester has barely changed and, as in the past, it is woefully anemic... when is Subaru going to up its game and give us some more choices on powertrains? How about a hybrid, a turbo, or a plug-in hybrid... get with it Subaru.
I jumped at the 2024 Forester Wilderness partly because I did NOT want the giant touch screen. I prefer my climate and radio controls to be physically on the dash and not have to be navigating menus while driving. Plus the Wilderness trim has more low-end torque which gets it off the mark quicker.
Same torque as wilderness engine, just taller rea 12:44 r end gears
Ditto and in Autumn green.
I thought you guys were gonna run out of gas before you got to 60 mph😂
😂
Even though I only buy Honda/Acura products, I still admire many manufacturers products and this is 1 of them.
The take rate for the old Forester Turbo was not high. The issue with the old Turbo was it used Premium fuel. Put the 2.4 liter turbo from the Outback in it (using regular fuel) and it will sell.
Yeah, For the past 10+ years, I have had the old 2.0 turbo, and for me, the premium is worth every penny over the regular gas for the wheezy 2.5L. I'm pissed that I can't buy a new XT Forester. I drove the XT Outback, and was not impressed. Unlike my ;14 XT, the Outback XT has no suspension, brake, and wheel/tire upgrades to go with the added power. It didn't feel like the extra power from the 2.4 turbo offset the extra 400 lbs that the Outback carries. Plus, whereas I have "sport" and "sport sharp" buttons on my steering wheel (which drastically change throttle mapping and fake gear activity to make it much more responsive), the Outback has one "sport" setting, and it is buried two screens deep on the big-ass infotainment menu. Hardly "handy". I'm hoping that like the RAV4 hybrid, the eventual Subaru hybrid will ADD power. The RAV4 hybrid is about 1.4 seconds faster to 60 than the gas only RAV-4 (Car and Driver tests). In spite of all the whining about the lack of power on the 2.5L Forester (and it is noticeably worse in the heavier Outback 2.5), it is right in the ball park with the non-turbo Mazda twins (CX-5, 50), the gas RAV 4, gas CRV, etc. The Mazda turbos allow use of regular gas, but the advertised HP and torque ratings are significantly greater if you use premium (Mazda actually rates them with both grades of gas. Think HP is 227 on regular and 250 on premium).
Excellent video!😸
A lot of comments that the engine is too weak. Most reviewers I have watched say the engine is adequate. Using an older engine usually imparts reliability.
The driver nannies are aggravating. All the beeps cause more distraction figuring out what the car is complaining about.
U guys have the sound level at 55.7 currently but the new one is louder? I’m guessing it’s the bumpy road?
Yes, the road quality is poor in the West but we will retest in KY as soon as we can for the official reading
Too bad it would have been nice maybe 190 HP and 200 torque at least it would have felt a little more pull if not speed
Some kind of video games vibe
Do the rear windows go all the way down?
No
We in Europe already have a Hybrid Forester since 2019. Its called E Boxer featuring na naturally aspirated 2.0L Boxer and a 17HP electric Motor. 150HP plus 17HP Electric in the Lineartronic and 66Newtonmetre of torque.
And update on the hyundai?
Soon!
Car Confections please ask Subaru to Bring back the Torque Converted 8 Speed Automatic
Omg, i laughed do hard at the 0 to 60 test at the start. It sounded like a leaf blower and it looked really slow lmao. I will say though, obv thus vehicle doesnt need speed as long as its built to last
For $40k, I demand both. 0-60 in 10s is pathetic and dangerous.
Did you provide the 0-60 time in the video?
Measured with a calendar instead of a stopwatch.
Video wasn’t long enough …for them to reach 60. Feels like a Yugo (on my 2nd Subie OB Touring 2023 w/2,5L). after close to 40,000 Kms the engine still feels underpowered. The Rav4 has 3 settings : Eco, normal and sport. Subaru’s 2,5L has one : boring. No more Subies for me due to infotainment system.
Any update on the Santa Fe transmission?
Not yet, stay tuned!
@@CarConfections Still no update on the Santa Fe???
Wait for the hybrid it doesn’t have the dual clutch transmission
Love your video 🚗 🚘 🚔 🏎 🚓 🚕 🚗 🚘 🚔 🏎
The downside is I compare every SUV sound level reading to the X5 and 48 dB.
That growling sound of engine is so lame 😒
Yeah jejeje 80 mph almost hit top speed
depending on how the 25 Wilderness is set up, that will be my next Subaru
It looks alright
Wish they would stop making CVT s lol
CVT's are going electronic anyway just like all the components of a car.
I don't understand why they will not just use the 2.4L Turbo....The could detune it slightly to ensure it runs on regular and does not "cannibalize Outback sales. Folks looking at the upper trim levels just might want that option...JMHO...
It's decent looking, but that CVT thing ew. Had one in a Rogue so no thanks.
Is the brand new Subaru FORDester, right? lol
Yes….😂😂😂 same Toughs …but your word creation is amazing!!! FORDester 😂😂😂😂
When is Subaru going to allow Forester buyers to option the turbo motor available in the Outback?
No fake shifting 😍 sorry I kinda like cvts
Oh wait just on hard acceleration
Slow like molasses 😅
Same old anaemic 2.5lt powerplant. What a joke. Bring back the XT Subaru! A year to wait for a Hybrid model!!!.....are you kidding Subaru.....Toyota must be counting the bucks selling more Hybrid RAV 4's in the mean time.
Wish they had a plug in I would buy that or a plug in Outback
probably going to choose a WRX since I already have a bigger suv.
Boring, slow, dependable, longevity and value ...have a 2017 Crosstrek, awaiting the Hybrid!
Dont expect much we in Europe have the crosstrek Hybrid…called E Boxer….2.0l Boxer with 136HP and a 17HP Electric Motor connected to the Lineartronic…featuring 66 Newtonmetre of Torque.
@@jensha8898the Forester will be using a completely different hybrid powertrain than the one you referenced. Toyota will be supplying the hybrid components, and should give the Forester around 200hp or so. Will be a welcomed addition.
@@lennygarrison6836ah okay didnt knew that. I know that Toyota have a good reputation and make reliable cars they are very successful in the us and worldwide. They have a very long history with hybrid. But as a german i dont like the fact that Subaru is mixed up with Toyota…the Image of Subaru is here quite good , expensive, well they just sell 3000 cars a year here in Germany…so its quite rare to see one. Driving a Toyota is like driving nothing
@@lennygarrison6836 pls dont understand me wrong…japanese cars are quite good…but they have no image and character here…subaru is the only brand with a good image because of colin mc rae and the beautiful blue flying impreza…were he became the world champion …this picture of a subaru is still in the heads of many… lexus is also a small brand here…just selling a few cars in the country of bmw, mercedes and audi …the eboxer is subarus own design and they can advertise it here as their design…if people hear toyota …they wont buy it …im pretty sure…also the RAV 4 wich is worldwide best selling car…but not here
Subaru lost a large section of its clientele when it dropped the turbo option on the Forester. My 2 stroke Lawn Boy sounds huskier than that choked off lump. The gross CVT doesn't help matters.
You’d probably been better off getting one of those instead of your Kia Santafe.
That cvt sounds terrible lol, ill give it till 60k miles for it to fail
Trash. What’s better from the last Forester absolutely nothing. The jump in price is ridiculous. This car is dated already. It looks exactly like the last model. The interior looks the same as every other Subaru. The lack of digital dash. The laggy I mean very laggy 11.6 infotainment system. That nonsense Subaru makes evolutionary changes they don’t want to offend their customers. Well I use to be one and I’m offended. Car is utter trash. Subaru you can do a lot better. Especially for the price jump shame on you
