I like how RUclips just decided recently that this is a good vid so everyone needs to see this now, despite it being 5 years old. Also this tune is absolutely fire
Lmao yeah this just popped up in my recommended (don't mind though, really darn nice)
when the algorithm does something right for once.
I think secretly the algorithm hates talent and promoted smut tbh.... Still good shit here
Yup exactly the same
It's so fire it could melt steel beams and still keep going
Traditional instruments mixed with metal is my new favourite genre
A guitar is more traditional these days. I think you meant obscure acoustic instruments.
@@ward9I think you'll find that the chikuzen biwa is a type of guitar in itself. :-)
If I am to use "traditional" in the sense of "long-established", which is my meaning, then the chikuzen biwa is still more traditional than the European guitar. Guitars (as I think you mean) have been around since ~1,000 AD; the biwa predates them by 300 years.
And now that I've woken up in the middle of the night and written this, I'll be going back to sleep. It's a funny modern world we live in.
If you like Black Metal, you might enjoy this . . . wait for it . . . ruclips.net/video/KP0HXIYnzt8/видео.html
You'd probably love folk metal and pagan metal.
Metal without the screaming in general is my favorite genre
My husband and I are huge metal fans, huge folk metal fans. Last year we saw The Hu which blends metal and traditional Mongolian singing and instruments. I am beyond pleased this randomly showed up on my feed. I know what I’ll be hyper fixating on when I can’t sleep tonight.
The Hu are mighty 🤩 Also check out Andre Antunes and the Nooran Sisters - Metal meets Indian 🧡
I have heard of those guys. They are pretty wild.
Saw the Hu at Glastonbury festival. They were awesome
Please tell me you've already found Bloodywood. If you haven't you NEED to hear them.
So Doom music
The mask really ties it together for me
I'm the same way, the mask just looks so damn cool.
I love when people combine traditional instruments with metal
The best combination ever.
Heilung rules at this
I think it's fun whenever any genre uses a non standard instrument. It's almost always a bop.
Anything with strings can go Metal🤘🏾
never heard Wagakki Band ?
The top two strings were not harmed in the creation of this masterpiece.
2:36
@@3ffinawesome459thanks! That second string wasn't harmed.... it was lightly kissed... like a husband being kissed from his wife out of obligation when she's still mad at him for things he doesn't know or understand he did wrong...
And the top string? Well its getting the silent treatment.
@@thprofessional5070 you ok bro? need to talk?
@@wnihaunter3943 ahh...a kind soul. Thank you friend. It does this old heart good knowing kindness and love isn't dead.

You're blind... All the strings are used throughout the video.
This deserves so much more attention! It's like if the Ghost of Tsushima and Doom soundtracks had a love child
I had the same idea lol! I very recently used his song to make a Ghost of Tsushima montage:
ruclips.net/video/yfcHP3-3nVU/видео.htmlsi=jljtCiib1jPGBeTB
I like how the chikuzen biwa seems to take the place of vocals in this song, its super cool
That's Exactly what's happening here!
This goes hard as hell. We need more of this kind of folk fusion metal in the world.
Hard as hell :D, it sounds like a bad banjo version of the song, what the hell are u listening?
@@peterouspensky7794 I liked it. If you don't, that's fine. It's just personal taste.
Honestly there's a lot of it floating around out there. Bit hard to track down since it's so niche, but hearing a hurdy gurdy rocking out next to a guitar is awesome.
There's an entire subgenre called Folk Metal that's very popular. You should check it out.
If you're interested, a band called Bloodywood mixes traditional Indian music with both metal and rap, and it's awesome. I've had the opportunity to see them live twice and the show was incredible both times. Their songs Gaddaar and Aaj are two good ones to start on. Also a woman called Nini Music does a similar thing with Taiwanese folk metal. Her song Homeland is genuinely amazing
Why does RUclips always show me masterpieces like his so late?! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!
I feel ya! 🤷♀️ but I'm always glad they did finally connect me to something new but in my sphere of posts & watches.
Same
google said fk your circadian rhythm
Same here xD it's awesome!
If you mean late in the day; I personally prefer to listen to good music later in the day to appreciate it better... next to that, you can always save it and play it the next morning as an energetic wake up routine.
this song has everything it needs to be a perfect boss theme
the intro cutscene and prefight buildup, the pure fighting carnage, even has event and phase switching
this is absolute perfection for the ears
I just love how several metal strings can make up such an universal musical instrument for the whole world, and each country could adopt their own type of it. America got the electronic guitar, Russia got ukulele, Japan got this, and everyone else also got their own types. It's pretty interesting to think about it
Ukulele is a hawaiian instrument, I think you meant balalaika bro, ukulele isn't even remotely Russian
@@frikeyslender3758 oh negative! My mistake, original gangster! 🙏❤
wait I just checked google and it said it originated from Portugal @@frikeyslender3758
Those strings aren't metal

This randomly popped up on my feed, but I’m glad it did.
I’m part Japanese and never learned about any of my heritage growing up, but seeing this, and being a metal head: this. This is what my life was missing.
That's awesome!!! 🎉
Dude I’m obsessed with your profile pic that’s awesome af 😂🌸 and it also randomly popped up on my feed but I already listen to this kind of music. If you like this you might like this song: (will post after this comment)
Be proud to be Japanese, you can learn a lot on your own. I recommend it
Trivium
As an American metalhead with an interest in Japanese anything, this slaps.
This could easily pass as the opening theme of an anime series about a heavy metal band.
Brutal
@@ir0nt0ad very brutal
"Pass as" means it isn't super good but it kind of gets the job done
@@SungazerDNB I see
Not even metal band, but just some OP character series. Would fit perfectly as intro or background
伝統的な音楽とメタルが組み合わされるのが大好きです
I love it when good metal incorporates traditional instruments. It always works. A testament to the skills of the musicians. From one craftsman to another, mad respect.
Don’t think a Biwa has ever been played in this way before…..
Bravo!!!
yeah, it has. Look at Wagakki Band. they been doing this for years.

The fact that this isn't on Spotify is a crime
it isn't .. bc Spotify.
Why is this "metal"? Everything is derivative . Hendrix playing the star spangled banner makes him what exactly?
Why RUclips music is the way forward
@@petertennent9604 I don't know man, why are you asking me?
@@petertennent9604 Its Metal because of the metal aspects within the background, such as the guitar and drums.
It's like soundtrack for epic battle between main character and final boss in anime or game. IT"S PURE FIRE !!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🎉 totally agree 💯
Everyone who loves this song, let's give this tremendously talented RUclipsr a "Yooooooo!" and a round of applause!!!

Anyone else have a really epic battle go in in their head with this playing?
Maybe 🤧🤧
maybe SW 5 Shikoku no tatakai chosokabe's chapter
Yes indeed I do ZenakuShinobi
Nah gang I’m just watching a plague doctor playin
Yes
I literally got goosebumps. This would be perfect stage music for a Samurai Shodown game.
Totally agree 👍
Needs to be more clear and include taiko drums and more distinct koto fluting.
Would be great, yeah
Such an underated game
@@matthewmclucas2034 I really appreciate a fighting game that's more strategic rather than requiring me to execute a frame perfect 15 button input in 3 seconds to do any real damage.
"非常に素晴らしい" what a great Song, and the metallic
sound of the Biwa fits absolute perfect!!! Thanks for sharing
You might think you're cool, but you'll never be as cool as this person right here. Such an epic performance!
This is what would be Japan's response if it got invaded by the Mongols a second time but "The Hu" used "Yuve Yuve Yu" as their weapon
This is inspiring me to draw some sick fan art ngl. Idk why, but your posture, the way you play, every angle is just giving inspiration. I may attempt either a digital or watercolor piece! Absolutely stunning, keep up the good work! :)
My advice? Do both. I have no clue how you’d attempt a “digital watercolor” drawing, but I’m sure there’s a way.
Did you do it, and if so, can we see it somehow?
This is gonna be sick
Also what digital software or platform are you doing because I'm shopping right now
well... how'd it turn out?
Me: *likes metal and traditional Japanese music*
The algorithm: yes
Literally gives me goosebumps with how stoically epic both sound and visual of the plague doctor mask & calm demeanor 🥰
I wish, so baddly, this was on spotify, because i have a intrumental only metal playlist over there. I would add this track to it, because it sounds amazing!
look at Wagakki Band, literally the same style.
@@ericknorskr8568 thanks for the recommendation!
@ericknorskr8568 thank you kind stranger.
Oh man I want that playlist
I agree I would love for this to be on Spotify. I keep listening to it now after discovering it and it's easier to have everything is one spot instead of having to keep flicking between the two for different songs.
That's such a cool instrument. I love how you get vibrato by pushing down more since your fingers don't touch a fretboard. So neat.
Your fingers never touch the fretboard, not with a guitar either. The string touches the fret
I believe that is a biwa, a traditional Japanese string instrument.
@@SungazerDNB I think they mean there's a lot more space between the fret and fretboard with this instrument compared to a guitar. You can do bends and get vibrato effects with this instrument by pushing straight down, where with a guitar you have to slide the string back and forth. You can see this technique in the video.
@@SungazerDNB as a guitar player, I would tend to disagree lol
Imagine my shock when i got a guitar with a set of jumbo frets and the strings indeed hover above the frets. Having played vintage all my life im having to relearn the guitar
This is absolute fire! As a metalhead I am so glad this appeared to me. Can someone recommend bands like this? Now I really need to know more about this style ❤❤
Check out The Hu
The HU are amazing @@storytellermusician
Wagakkiband = this specific sound, Japanese traditional music meets metal.
Tengar Cavalry = Mongolian folk metal
Dalriada = Hungarian folk metal
Arkona = Russian folk metal
Saltatio Mortis = sometimes European folk metal, sometimes the most metal sounding folk music you've ever heard
Falkenbach = metal with European folk and symphonic elements
Ensiferum = Finish folk melodic death metal. Its as awesome as it sounds
Bloodywood = Indian folk metal, truly amazing. Bollywood soundtrack meets metal.
@StarlitSeafoam Since you seem to like Mongolian rock music, I would highly recommend Hu. Yuve Yuve Yu and both versions of Wolf Totem are my favorite tracks and the songs I would suggest you try. Also, if you like, try turning on close captioning if you would like to have English subtitles of the song lyrics.
Folk Metal seems to be trending. I’ve always loved traditional/classical rock fusion, ever since Emerson, Lake and Palmer and ‘70’s Progressive Rock, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, progressive/orchestral metal and now we’re seeing all this folk metal from across the globe! Lovin’ it! ❤
Man this shit slaps so hard. I love the sound of a Biwa in rock/metal. Definitely something I'd animate a fight scene too
This is what I love about metal. It can take on any genre or instrument and it will sound amazing. I have heard no exceptions yet.

@@Fausto_4841 There's a LOT of really shit in all genres. Especially the ones I don't like that much, broski. Music is purely subjective.
what are my metrics? i don't know why you're reacting like i'm putting metal down or expecting perfection by disagreeing with your original suggestion that it will sound amazing with any instrument or genre, with no exceptions. that's just objectively not true, big guy.
of course music is subjective and there's bad stuff in every genre, so you're contradicting yourself when you said it.

I'm intrigued by the style of "pick" used here.
Also, this is a level of unbridled awesome right there up there with the woman who does the covers of "western" pop & metal songs on the Guzheng.
If it's anything like a shamisen, then the pick would be called a bachi. Agreed, they're super cool
i think it’s called a biwa plectrum
Yup it's a bachi. Same word is used for taiko drumsticks and any sort of pick for Japanese stringed instruments.
