      but its not Japanese "tradition" at all
      originated in China then introduced to Japan through Okinawa just like other "Japanese" instruments such as Koto Biwa Shakuhachi etc

    Shamisen is such a beautiful instrument. It sounds similar to a banjo in a way, but is played very differently. I love it.

      A shamisen player has my respect, Fimpen. It is a difficult instrument and requires a great deal of commitment, as your four years would indicate you possess. I lived in Japan for 9 years and miss aspects of Japanese culture, particularly traditional music and Kabuki theatre, as well as missing Japan itself.

    I've always been a bit of classical music head but after watching the anime, I can't stop hearing the sound of the shamisen in my head. It's filled up so much of the space that it's the only thing I can hear.

      I searched for Videos so to see a „real“ person play the shamisen. RUclips reckomends at least one shamisen vidoe per day while O wait for another eoisode of snow white Notes😊

      Originally it was played by blind bards during the Edo period who travelled and by playing shamisen made a living.

    Ok guys guys guys since y'all absolutely love the shamisen, go watch kubo and the two strings,the shamisen is used as a magical weapon in certain parts,but can manipulate paper and leaves and other wooden-made stuff,anyways love this now *go watch it*

    I love my Tsugaru shamisen with Ripple, I live in a humid sub-tropical area, my skin shamisen is always under wraps, but I can have my Ripple shamisen on the stand ready to just pick up & play whenever I get the urge. Arigatou gozaimasu

    So beautiful and distinguished!!!!! It's always so interesting to see and hear, how similar the traditional aspects of different cultures are. When I listen to this great ancient instrument, I hear traditional blues guitar strumming and I hear traditional Appalachian guitar picking. Amazing.

    Remarkable, really.
    One minute it reminded me of blue grass banjo, the next it was the stomp of flamenco twinged with the improvisatory flair of the sitar. Mostly, of course, what it reminded me was that, for all the surface calm of many aspects of Japanese life, sadness and immediacy. are also there in abundance.
