The running gag where you play the lab rats theme whenever you mention the show will never not be funny, please never stop doing it
the name is too cursed to say
Additionally: the running gag where he chaotically chooses to refer to various characters by some other crazy ass name, such as actively choosing to switch Zeke and Derrick’s names 😂
also nicholas braun being in sky high is his actual most famous role as the glowing guy zach
I am from Brazil and love this movie 🇧🇷❤
@@freshtownfly126 which one
@@gamerule18 minutemen
He looks so different with blond hair, I never noticed when I was a kid 😂
Is just cousin Greg now
Look, if someone in the club I was in straight up invented _time travel,_ I'd be calling him "Glorious Leader" and following him into literal life or death struggles.
Imagine you didn’t know your house was a filming ground for a Disney Channel Movie/Series and one day this guy in weird attire such as an all white ski coat stands outside and films himself…I’d be terrified
this is my new favorite comment on youtube well done.
I would be so excited
As a native Spanish speaker, I can confirm that when a boy and a girl are friends, they're called "amigos".
This video has been approved by the Spanish community.
*infighting between all the many versions of spanish starts instantly*
I love how Keyan Carlile videos will always have a fun game of “how many degrees of separation is this thing from Transformers,” I am honestly here for it.
1:01:40 I can't even begin to describe how much I love the details of this skit:
- the fact that past you was randomly in front of the minutemen high school for no reason
- while wearing a minutemen ski costume
- while over elaborately proclaiming to never wanting to review minutemen
- the absolute 0 surprise in seeing your future self
- the 0.1 seconds it took to change your past self mind about the review
- the even quicker transition into reviewing minutemen with an impromptu 1+hour long script ready to go
Definitely my favorite joke of the video.
Around 30:08 is my favorite “during this behind the scenes in a featurette, which is like the female equivalent of a feature”
@@kingbaco1233 LMAOO
just realized my brain somehow misremembered this movie and until you said Hatching Pete i genuinely believed the chicken mascot was a plotline in Minute Men 😭💔
the movies are basically the same anyways it’s ok
How the hell did you comment this a week ag- ohhhh...
how was this commented 7 days ago
SAME
It's okay me too for a long long time. Except I thought Mitchell Museo(?) was in this and not the CHicken Costume part
i don’t think i missed a single rerun of this for at least 4 years straight
Its so weird that they got to high school as a trio of best friends then the moment the movie says he's a nerd neither one of them do anything to prevent it but claim they did and proceed to ignore him for 3 full years until he can be of use to them.
That's how people that age are, a lot of the time. Do anything to make them think you're weird and they pretend they never knew you.
No literally. I would never have done that to my long time besties. I'd be like "What the actual hell???" and then be in detention
Well one of them is actively endorsing his friend getting bullied to fit in( I think that was the implication?) but the other kinda isn't given agency bc no girls in this movie have agency? It is weird they treat her as so nice but she doesn't really try to hang out with him and get him a boost or stop the bullying?
This movie has a weird message about conformity lol
It’s shown that the girl still talks to him the hallways when she’s not busy with her friend circle. So she didn’t ice him out. I got the impression that she’s been busy with her cheerleading commitments and social obligations and that’s left her to drift apart since Virgil knows he’s unwelcome by the rest of her clique, and because Virgil is too shy to be proactive about stopping their drifting apart
"This day you hate so much...is my favorite day" had young me bawling. Still the best bit of the movie and the reason I remember it
the most important takeaway from this video is Keyan got rickrolled by a child
"Bro is like 9"🤣🤣🤣☠☠☠
The lengths you go to find filming spots for you videos are unreal. Especially having to wear that snow suit to have another jacket underneath.
I’m always too hyped seeing the notification of an upload from you.
the Dean Pelton look-alike also played the Vice Principle on Phil of the Future, so he played a Vice Principle in two time travel based Disney shows/movies
Thank you! That's where I know him from.
He was also in the Disney XD show Aaron Stone, and voiced Kuzco in The Emperor’s New School.
I always liked that the extras in this movie are actively aware of the plot and unlike other movies they react when people shout concerning things in public spaces
Austin Butler really went from a one time character in Wizards Of Waverly Place and iCarly, to being in Aliens In The Attic, to being nominated for an Oscar as best leading role in Elvis
And for being the random kid in the background of EVERY child sitcom. He was literally EVERYWHERE 😂😂
Hey, he was also the main character in The Shannara Chronicles, which is... A show.
he will always be that guy from Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure TO ME!
He was also pretty significant in the last bit of zoey 101
He had a big role in The Carrie Diaries so I think that helped his transition 😅
Charlie's monologue to Virgil was genuinely so moving
I agree. He gave a great performance!
yeah not gonna lie, that was sweet. Would hit harder had Virgil not been a dick to him the entire movie though
*to virgin
I watched this movie ONCE as a kid, and “You ROBBED NASA” and “dropped a grape” have been stuck in the deep deep recesses of my mind ever since.
I'm not even sure how much of it I watched the one time it was on but somehow "you robbed NASA" is also in my head
I haven’t even got to that point in the video yet but ‘dropped a grape’ just unlocked a core memory wth
For me it was "global warming, he's really freaked out"
@@diffjuns323 I think I t mightve been in one of the promos
Mine was the part where his sister asked for his room
Now that we're adults, can we talk about how wild it is that Derek didn't ask Virgil to go back in time to stop HIM from cheating, he asks Virgil to stop STEPHANIE from catching him? Meaning that he doesn't regret his actions, he just doesn't want to deal with the consequences. If that ain't some high school bullshit i dont know what is.
"we're the minutemen, not the weeniemen" has HAUNTED me since i heard it originally in 2008
34:03 this is the most unrealistic part of the movie. I can suspend my disbelief for time travel, but one dude barely yelling got the entire cafeteria to stare at him? That’s where I draw the line
I don't know if it's just me, but as time goes on I feel like I'm seeing more and more of Keyan's personality come out in his videos. While they're all bangers, recently you can really tell he's throwing his sense of humor into these great short bits that are edited in. You love to see it.
agreed, and you can tell he’s like found his groove for making and editing his videos!
“A 3rd other thing has time travel”
Yh he’s getting more comfortable being himself. I definitely noticed. Happy to see this Channel grow. One of the few that taught me my love for three hour long dissections on old tv shows
let out a genuinely shocked snort at “I’m taking this horse by the reins making red coats redder with blood stains!!!”
I literally cannot believe I avoided succession spoilers for so many weeks just to get it spoiled for me by this video LMAO (I mean I did see it coming but still)
zeke and those two girls were serving poly representation realness
The storyline also reminds me of Steinsgate which came out a year after this film! Scientists realise they are messing with time travel, there's a fat and thin one. They all think they look good in quirky white outfits, they start to remember alternate timelines as 'deja-vu'. They stole a bunch of information, they undo mistakes. A time machine incorporating a microwave, they hang out and talk on stairways, a girl just walks in and joins the team, they try to win the lottery and it doesn't go to plan...
Steins;Gate ran because Minutemen crawled
Steins;Gate is a great VN and a just as great anime. Sadly, Steins;Gate 0 isn't as good.
was looking for this comment after he started mentioning minutemen predicting plotlines in future better media lol. don't forget the teenage loser protagonists hacking into a large government-funded research organization!
Minutemen ran so Steins;Gate could walk
So we gonna talk about the fact that they were stripped of their clothes and redressed in cheerleaders uniforms by (presumably) the football team? This feels like a crime
Yeah in real life it feels like someone should have been arrested
Especially seeing as one of them was like... literally 10 and they were like 18????
And then the football team stripped another kid in the movie. Yup. They're definitely crimes. Not pulling that out my butt but I'm too lazy to get the linky link
It's multiple crimes. Assault and Battery, Harassment, Sexual Assault, Vandalsim...
Yeah I'd be pressing charges. I'd also probably sue the school for failing to protect me.
Don’t know if you remember but I commented on your community post about the location of the gas station. I was finally able to contact that coworker that was on set for this gas station scene. She says she now has forgotten the exact location of the gas station but is pretty sure it was in the Riverton/Herriman area. Just to let you know so you don’t feel like you dijt have a loose end lol.
“There are three tiers… how many fingers do I have?”
Made me laugh more than expected.
1:10:40 this 9 year old just rick rolled thousands of people. Bro wasnt even a zygote when people were doing that
You can have an open wrench that is a ratcheting wrench on the other side. Also you definitely can pick the numbers you want on a lottery ticket.
I love these videos so much! PLEASE keep them coming
community refrences crazy in this video. some even flew under the radar. my personal fav was the "featurette" joke. great shit!!
what i took from this video is that kids still learn about Rickrolling and im happy about that
This movie gave me existential terror as a kid and I blocked literally all of it from my memory, including the existence of the movie itself.
You're going to end up on Salt Lake School District watch list someday 💀
I respect the commitment to travel across the country on a regular basis though. It's one of my favorite parts of your deep dive videos!
Edit: 1:01:06 As someone who lives in the area...I can confirm that "if it ain't broke, why fix it" is the government's policy when it comes to roads
Ngl the amount of times I smiled or laughed at you calling Virgil Virgin is alarming.
you can in fact pick what lottery numbers you get, the number is never announced in advanced (I know this because my dad picks the same numbers every single time. He says they have to hit one of these days)
he's using the worst strategy possible
fuming bc you said “with no sacrifice comes no victory” and i immediately knew it was the witwicky family motto. how do you manage to fit so many banger tf references in every video you make
the reason that the last air date is in 2016 is that they did a DCOM marathon that summer, with every single DCOM airing over the course of the summer, i actually watched a decent chunk of the marathon but i don’t remember if i caught minutemen 😭
Modern Disney Channel has not phased out live-action, it’s just that the weekends are usually solely dedicated to animation.
Never did I think I’d get spoiled on Succession by watching a minute men video
"Would you want to relive your senior year of high school?"
My senior year was the 2019-2020 year, soooo...
I guess I would know that I didn't have to study as hard because everyone got a free pass that year. I would also try my best to get everyone's contact (I was really bad at getting people's contacts and had absolutely no way to reach out to most of my friends unless their instagram usernames were their actual names). I would invest hugely in the month of April or May (although I only had like $2,000 at that time, so maybe I should try really hard to convince my parents to invest). And lastly, I would say something else when the school newspaper interviewed me about Covid in early March and I claimed that "it wouldn't be a big deal".
For fun, I would also make a bunch of theory videos for popular franchises knowing full well exactly what happens and gain millions of subscribers for my accurate theories only to lose them all once I catch up to the present day and fail to predict anything.
okay im only 10 minutes in but i need to say how keyan is the funniest person like, not a single joke misses for me
About the ending, I feel like DC is going to pivot even further into this animation-centric direction now that the writers strike is happening, which means they can't really make new sitcoms or original movies unless they resort to AI. But kids cartoon writers can't strike since they're under the Animation Guild instead of the Writers' Guild.
I heard somewhere that the anomation guild may join the strike like directors and actors are?
Could not contain my laughter when you traffic-circle your way into making this video
Steven R. McQueen (Derek) was Jeremy in the Vampire Diaries. And like I didn't even slightly recognize him until I looked up the rest of the cast.
Me with time travel: *time travels one second into the past repeatedly until I've got three me's and we all start singing we are number one*
1:09:45 Zombies 3 was also released on Disney+ first and then they aired it on Disney Channel, but Zombies 1 and 2 aired on Disney Channel first
You’re telling me two of the minutemen ended up being the brother and the guy that should’ve been the endgame of Bridgett Mendler’s character in Good Luck Charlie?
I am such a Disney fan I recognized the main cast immediately;
-Jason Dolley is obvious, though I will say "Good Luck Charlie" is the thing I know him most from
-Chelsea Staub gets me so hype because she's Stella Malone and Joe Jonas screaming "I LOVE STELLA MALONE" in a fake airport in Jonas L.A. is a core memory
-Luke Benward, the hot guy from "Girl vs Monster"
and finally
-Nicholas Braun, who I did not know was in this movie at ALL because the only place I know him from is "Princess Protection Program" because he has a crush on Selena Gomez and is the token "camera guy" friend
6:30 As a self diagnosed nerd, I can confirm we are made to be bullied
“Hollywood doesn’t take Child Stars seriously anymore”
Ke Huy Quan: *Laughs and polishes his Oscar*
Or the countless other child stars who remained famous stars into adulthood, like Elijah Wood, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman, Scarlet Johanson, Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Kurt Russell, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Jodie Foster, Kirsten Dunst.
Hour long (or multi hour long) videos about my childhood shows and movies is my favorite genre
This video is awakening the minutemen part of my brain. I used to stay up all night watching Disney channel and this is one of the first movies I noticed that had an actor I knew from a TV show.
Well this and Hatching Pete for the exact same reasons.
15:56 Maddison pettis was not a main star, she was supporting cast at best but Jenna Ortega was. Unlike Madison, Jenna had her own show called Stuck in the Middle, did the voice for princess Isabel in Elena of Avalor, and was still doing voice work for Disney as recently as last year on Big City Greens as Cricket’s crush Gabrielle Espinosa.
Don’t off yourself Keyan you have so many videos to live for!
1:07:49 I just remembered the reason why there was a airing in 2016 is becuase Disney was promoting adventures in babysitting as there 100th DC original movie and they were airing every movie made at that point.
Everytime Keyan cuts to any area that was used for filming with the good old Ghost House theme is a treat
🎉😅😅 46:13 46:14 🎉
BTW the grappling hook is a trope that was also used in Fanboys, which came out in 2009. However, Fanboys was filmed in 2006 and the producers just sat on it for three years….Sooo…yeah, grappling hook tropes for everyone!
This is suspiciously like if someone from 2010 went back in time 3 years and tried to recreate Steins;Gate from memory under the limitations of a Disney TV movie
certified hood classic
I grew up in the area and it’s honestly so surreal to see all these locations from not only my actual life, but in a movie I used to love as a kid.
15:58 you may want to move Jenna Ortega to the “main stars of the channel who do not sing songs” category because she did have her own show on Disney Channel for a while
Also she is a big success now, did you forget she was Wednesday Adaams on the Netflix show Wednesday
Wasn’t he saying that she’s part of the people who were now famous
@@SuperT nope, he said she’s in the “minor actor who pops in every once in a while” category, and then he proceeded to say you never hear from these guys again
@@TheTrueMorse64 no he was saying the minor Disney channel characters are now famous while the people who were popular on Disney channel but couldn’t sing never did more.
@@Hexmonkey ok I guess you are right I did not pick up on it when he said “…that they managed to slip by and I feel like so many of these guys are successful actors now”
But that still doesn’t excuse the fact that he is not correct about Jenna Ortega being a minor actor on Disney Channel because she had her own show (Stuck in the Middle)
@@TheTrueMorse64 I think it’s more about the Disney stars that they actively promoted a ton vs the ones they didn’t. For example, I had no idea Jenna was even on Disney until I looked up her IMBD, and have no idea what that show is. He’s just saying that the actors they didn’t really promote and only appeared in one or two things managed to become super successful while the ones who appeared in a ton of Disney projects and weren’t actively promoted had trouble finding work afterwards because they were too recognizable, but didn’t have the same influence. In other words, I don’t think he’s trying to be disrespectful to Jenna here.
1:04:05 can we appreciate the fact that as they are approaching the vortex, unsure if they are going to make it, Virgil does not floor it until right before they get to the vortex. Meaning that despite the fact that if they miss the vortex they have to repeat all of high school again, Virgil doesn't feel it necessary to push the rocket cart to its maximum speed in order to prevent that from happening.
Lol it cracks me up every time when you go to the places that they filmed at - also loved the outfit lol
19:00 holy cow, you broke my brain. I was still trying to comprehend how those two actors weren't the same person and Keyan just tied it all together.
Man im still befuddled
Oh my god, I remembered this movie but thought it was something I made up as a kid since I could never find anything about it. Thank you for unlocking this memory.
Honestly I feel like we're in that timeline where the bullied nerds created A.I.
I just wanna say that I appreciate you adding production value with things like that split-screen effect. It’s a common editing trick, in a way, but it’s still quite a bit more work than a basic shot, and especially in natural light with shadows it could _easily_ get messed up. And what sold it here was the fact that you panned the camera right after, kinda surprised me even. Added more flair and creativity to the project, definitely. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that you meticulously visit all these locations like a freaking autistic champ (I mean that in the best way possible, I’m autistic, and I always appreciate people’s genuine interest in obscure topics). I like the way you incorporated some of the short outside shots, with the music and all. Your videos are definitely improving, it’s so awesome to see people grow their craft and their reach. And I know how much it can mean to know that the small details don’t go unnoticed. I’ve never seen this movie and I didn’t grow up with Disney Channel cause I’m not American, but you make it interesting and give me that sweet second-hand nostalgia. Cheers dude!
I have probably watched this movie at least four times as a kid and I'm surprised by how many scenes I genuinely don't remember
24:58 I'm sure people have already answered this but in most number lotteries yes you can (and most people do) pick your own numbers. People who play a lot tend to do things like family members birthdays etc.
Keyan you are probably the most GOATED youtuber not to mention Disney utuber. Plz don’t kys 😭 u got better shit to do, like keeping it real and never listening to the hater demons. Love to you bro!!!
i didn't realise there were two different videos and up until the moment he mentioned someone else also released a video about this movie I was trying to understand how the 30 minute video about the disney channel original movie minutemen I almost watched last night had turned into a hour-long video about the disney channel original movie minutemen
Omg you just unlocked a core memory, I didn’t even know I had seen this, but little did I know, not only did I see it but I liked it ALOT
ive never seen community but seeing the chang character do a military regime thing and realizing that the same actor Ken Jeong voice acted a pony in the new my little pony a new generation movie who did the same military regime thing flabbergasted me. the more you know i guess.

Making a major succession spoiler in the first 15 minutes is wild
Oh no, there was definitely a need for dissecting this movie. The need was my entertainment.
Yoooo, another obscure Disney thing review let's gooooooo
Was going to watch the film on Disney plus when my son said “we just watched a better version.” Thanks, your video is loads of fun!
Crazy that this movie is a rip-off of my favorite anime: Steins;Gate. Both are about students who:
• Steal time machine plans from a government agency
• discover that the missing key to time travel is running a microwave near the machine
• get hunted down by government agents
• take requests to solve people's problems, but accidentally make way more problems.
• have a skinny scientist and a fat scientist
OR THAT'S WHAT I WOULD HAVE SAID, but it turns out Steins;Gate came out 1 year after MinuteMen! The Disney movie is the original, and Steins;Gate is the knockoff!
There’s a different energy to this video. One of weakly masked mania. I’m witnessing a descent into absolute bonkitude
haven't watched the video yet but i have a memory of watching this movie in a hotel room and making my siblings turn it off because i was afraid it'd get too tense and i wouldn't be able to get to sleep. can't wait to see if my fears were warranted
EDIT: almost finished the video. probably was a good idea to turn the movie off because 9? 10? year old me would have been stressed out by the wormhole
Watching this review (more of a lighthearted commentary) nowadays I have no idea what that plot is man
Sensitive ass kid
I watched it on Netflix around that same time IIRC. I only VAGUELY remember it, but the opening scene has stuck in my head. Kind of funny that he's covered both the DCOMs I remember watching as a kid
"You're kind of scary and unapproachable. Can we sit with you?" Some of the most relatable dialogue in any of these movies
Pair of kings next? That show was wild imo
1:11:52 Paulo Freire said "When education is not liberating, the dream of the opresed is to become the opressor" thats the message of minutemen, kinda deep ngl, the ones who got bullied will bully because the educational system is lacking, truly amazing
(Idk if the quote makes sense in english the way I translated it but who cares)
Thank you for reminding me of Jason Dolley! I liked him a lot; I’m ashamed to have forgotten my boy! You are so right about his subtlety! Without a doubt, one of the best and most underrated performers from that age of Disney. I hope to see him nab another leading role, soon! 🤞

You absolutely can tell the vendor the numbers you want. Many people have numbers they consider lucky/their favorites.
This is a certified Keylan Carlile classic
I realized the principal was the same guy from Phil of the Future, and for years, I thought he was also the dean in Community
This is amazing!! You should do Clockstoppers too, that movie is carved into my subconscious
I love the dedication to tracking down all of the movie locations, truly some top-tier content 👏👏
I will never forgot the song they used for minutemen, Run it back again by Corbin bleu
One thing I always wondered is, the Time Machine creates a vortex portal that you jump into, and then you get spit back out through the vortex generated by the same machine at a different point in time. So does that mean they can only travel to points in which the Machine is on and the vortex is open? Do they leave the Machine on and the Vortex Open for an entire day so that it’ll be there for them to come out of?
Seeing Keyan go to so many places around my house is surreal 😂 I had no idea this was filmed here but also I’ve never seen minutemen so not sure why I would have known

For whatever it's worth, my kids (8 and 4) fuckin LOVE the Zombies series, which they've only seen on Disney+ (we don't have cable). The service just spits up DCOMs sometimes and my girls are uh not the most discerning viewers in the world. They like older DCOMs when I steer them that way, but on their own, they'd be content to watch Zombies and Descendants forever
i remember a lot more of this movie than i thought i did it’s so trippy
This seems somewhat different compared to all your other videos, at first I was thrown off because it was a different style, but I ended up enjoying it :)
That intro was iconic Disney was the shit back then and minute men is iconic, so much memories. That’s so cool your were at the school the movie was filmed in. Derek I couldn’t stand ❤ 😂
I mean Nicolas Braun did turn out to be a pedophile so Virgil's little sister is based as hell
