aww my mum has a grey, yellow and white Cockatiel named Sid, he was abused when he was two years old and now he is happy and whistles his heart out everyday.
He's healthy and strong. Has a messed up wing due to a previous injury, so he can't fly. He does look old, though. Still very active, sings and plays. Unfortunately, he's a biter, he has to be in just the right mood to be touched.
Another con is that these birds will SCREAM for attention if they don't feel they're getting enough, and they are extremely loud. Something to bear in mind if you live in an apartment, or if you just can't tolerate screeching. Granted, a happy, busy cockatiel shouldn't spend all day screaming, but I've met some who are very demanding, and if you're say, watching TV and they're in their cage behind you, they'll consider that completely unfair and will just scream endlessly until you pay them some attention.
Llama Girl Alo i had female and male cockatiel my female laid unfertilized eggs 🥚 too but ever since male died she stopped laying eggs its been 2 years. when i leave her she screams also but in the cage she never screams literally never while male was screaming nonstop
My old female literally screamed if I changed the channel on the TV. She was such a sassy little lady lol. Sadly she passed away 2 years ago. However I'm glad to have spent 10 years with her :) RIP baby x
My bird had her cage open all day everyday. Only closed if I wasn't home or went to bed to ensure her safety. She lived a very satisfying life until she passed away due to old age 2 years ago. To me I believe a birds cage is it's bed, not its home. It should have a choice to come and go as pleases :)
They love to be with people as stated in the video, so I assume they won't mind being touched, just make sure they know what you're doing, don't come up behind them and try to pet them, it could startle them
Hii great advice, very nice,l love so much my cockatiel,he really enjoys my company, wants to be on my shoulder all the time, and if i have to go somewhere he will whiste for me to come back, yeah i would advise that you should only have cockatiels if you have a lot of time to spend with them cause they will be sad and depressed otherwise, they love us
I bought my bird when my son moved out. After two weeks my son came to visit and my bird was in love with him so much so that when he drove up she would scream when she saw his car.
Your bird videos are super informative and educational. You present the information extremely well and efficiently and you don't ramble on and on. I've noticed that In alot of bird education/training videos the presenters tend to repeat what they're trying to say over and over and even contradict themselves and it can get frustrating and confusing for the viewer. You don't do that at all. Also, your birds seem to be very happy and healthy and it's obvious you spend alot of time with them and take great care of them. Thank you for creating such great videos.
Your videos have been a big help in learning more about these little cuties. My daughter has her heart set on getting one of her own and I know very little about birds. Thank you so much for your channel!
What a gorgeous bird! Thank you for sharing your information. I've had cockatiels, budgies, and love birds, and have enjoyed them all. They all have their own little personalities. One thing I know my birds LOVE, is a bath, either in a shallow pyrex dish filled with about 2 inches of warm water, or a spray bottle misting. It's entertaining to watch them spread their wings and enjoy bath time...
My three cockatiels are really happy I had them for a long time there all pretty calm with each other and with me they hang out on my shoulders and one hangs out on my head while I’m doing work while I talk with them 😊
I have a Royal Crest Cockatiel named Prince. Though I showed this video to them in order to get him so my parents said maybe. But I got home today and my dad told me to go clean my birds (I have parakeets) and when I looked at the cage I saw the Cockatiel and I flipped out! Thank you so much for making this video! It has truly changed the minds of my parents!!!😂😘😍
I have a yellow, orange, gray, and white Cockatiel, Snowflake, and every time one of the birds in the video tweeted/whistled, he did the same. Great video btw!
Excellent video! Especially the part about the dust/dander that cockatiels generate. Not many videos talk about that aspect of cockatiel but the STRUGGLE IS REAL! Thanks for the videos. My cockatiel Larry Bird is 20 years old... and he has produced 20 years of dust and dander too!
Thank you for this helpful video, we are thinking about getting one soon and we are trying to educate ourselves to make sure that we will provide him/her with the best possible care. We are very much looking forward to adopting our new little friend!
I’ve been searching a lot about these beautiful birds for 2 and a half years already and I think I’m finally ready to have 2 of my very own :) also great video! Really helped a lot! :)
I am getting a cockatiel in 5 weeks, its a baby and its getting weaned. So it will be young when I get him/her. I'm super excited. I have a large cage specifically for him/her & toys already. I already have 5 budgies that I've had since they were born. I am so excited, the budgies are my daughter's (i let her think that...lol), this will be mine. So so excited and love & appreciate your videos.
Hey That video is so nice, many informations and all of them are right. Your Cockatiel looks so sweet, i had a grey one, but i sold him couse he was lonely... but soon i will get 2 white ones. Love your videos, don‘t stop with them🥰🥰❤️❤️
I have 3 cockatiels, 2 of them are 1 and 1 of them is a couple months old. I’m glad my birds love me, I knew them since they were baby birds :D They are always happy and that’s makes me happy
I get my cockatiel Harley in 1 week and this video really helped I'm getting her for my birthday and now knowing how friendly they can be that I made the right decision choosing a cockatiel
Thanks for the honest info... I been researching a lot about getting a bird. Been wanting to know what to expect. Definitely want to research more before I commit.
i love this video!! we just got a 10week old cockatiel. after 3days he has been the sweetest bird ever.. just wants to sit with us and hang out. he's also not afraid of my dog.he actually seems to like him. i have a 16months old shihtzu..he comes up to him and licks him lol don't worry I never let my dog alone with the bird but he seems to like him he bends his head down when my pup comes up to him and wants attention so cute.i had this bird when I was a kid love them!! pls post more stuff!!
He is so cute!! I love the white and the grey in his face is cute. I notice that he doesn't have round orange air patches too. My cockatiel is a female and she is 20 years old and still going strong and healthy. She is actually chirping a lot write now because she can hear the birds in this video.
Hi, my cockatiel lived for 27 years. Never showed a sign on getting old on his feathers. Sadly he passed away about a year ago but they can live well over 20 years for sure if they are in a great and healthy environment :) PS. He was always outside of his cage, only time he was in it was during the nights when he was sleeping.. i had to put him inside each night DS.
I have two lovely self-tamed cockatiels and I love them with all my heart. Their names are Kiki and Ravi. Cockatiels are great starter birds if you are new to the bird world! I was surprised to see that every bird has a different personality. Your cockatiel has beautiful colouring and I can already see he is a lovely companion.
I’m getting a cockatiel soon and this really helped. I have 3 pages of research and a playlist of stuff I don’t have written down. I either want a normal gray Latino or a white faced cockatiel. I’m hoping that my dogs and my bird have a good bond cause I think it would be cute for the bird to ride on one of He dogs. Thanks for the video!
They can be good for a college student. If living in a dorm, understand they can be messy and noisy, so that may not go over well with roommates or neighbors. They also require several hours of attention daily, so make sure you have enough time to spend with a bird. If not, a pair may be more ideal which means....more noise, more messy :-).
I just got a cockatiel and named her Yuri! Unfortunately she's a little biter but we're letting her settle in and eventually train her to be hand tame. She is the bird in my profile picture.
Yuri The Cockatiel Wow she's gorgeous! I'm getting a white face cockatiel this weekend and I'm gonna name them Archimedes :) How is yours going? Does she still bite? :c
Ive had my male cockatiel since hatched and hes also my first bird ive had him for 6 months now and i love him! Hes already flight trained and can slightly say his own name (Rio) and always wants head scratches 😂 ive also got a bunch of toys for him and a lot of ladders so he wont struggle to go anywhere in the cage or out i mostly have his cage open aswell just so he feels free and doesnt feel trapped inside the cage so he can actually see it more as a home rather than a prision im curretly trying to pooty train him which isnt the easiest but its getting there so if theres any tips i would give is that DONT get a cockatiel just to talk or think that its gonna be the cleanest thing in the world or the easiest because it is not at all but if ur able to handle that they are truly something special!
I'm getting one in a few weeks when the people im buying it from have one that I can hold and I'm super exited to see it you got a new subscriber than,s
I've been wanting a green cheek conure for forever. But once I saw how pretty these birds were and how pretty their chirping is, I really want one. This would be my first bird and I really want to pick the right one. So wish me luck on my research!
James is correct. If done properly it doesn't hurt at all, and they grow back in a few weeks like cutting hair. This is why it's important to find someone with experience if you're going to clip his wings. Personally, I find cockatiels to be pretty responsible when flying around. I've had three and they're inquisitive but not overly destructive, and easily taught to come when called. If you are fond of ceiling fans or open windows, or if you feel you don't have a safe area for free flying, then definitely consider getting his wings clipped.
Thanks, I'm looking to buy one for my birthday. Bad thing is my mom is terrified of birds but she's trying to conquer her fear. Thanks this helped alot.
Good point on the dander. My bird loves to clean himself when he is on my shoulder and leaves that dander behind. Luckily it doesn't seem to bother me.
Im so glad I came to this video. If I got a cockatiel without knowing it's pros and cons I would've gotten my mom to have bad allergies with the dandruff
mine just had 4 chicks ! I think the 6 of them are going to have a easier time bringing me a beer than the 2 alone ! definitely the right birds for me !
Ive been doing some research on cockatiels for a while now and people usually say that they need another cockatiel. But, I don't really think I could afford 2 cockatiels... Do you think only owning 1 would make the cockatiel "lonley?"
I have only 1 cockatiel and it will need a lot of attention but if you are home and stay with him all the time like me (he is on the other side of the sofa)it should be fine. I go and stay to school 7 hours (at least I will in september) so if you do not have another thing to do and stay away from home for a little too long its best you get 2 maybe get one and when you can afford another one get it
I remember I was volunteering at a bird rescue place, and I heard a Cockatiel whistling and singing. It had such a pretty voice. I wish I could have a bird, but unfortunately, I do not live in my own home, and it is not bird-proofed. 🥺
I wanted to add that for asthma/allergy sufferers, you can invest in an air purifier to set in the room the cockatiel will live in. They are pricey but are great at eliminating the dander from the air and also reduce dust in rooms overall :)
Good information, thanks. I am leaning toward parakeets, though I could always change my mind. Good to know however about the dander. I have allergies. So that one would be a definite no.
Thankyou for this video, very helpful. I have a cockatiel for around two months now Mr Louis McBeak. Not 100% if male, he /she is a pearl cinnamon, and a white face, and white tail, with no markings on the tail..does this make him male ?? Think around 6 /7 months old, and a little nippy, guessing a growing stage. Hand trained, and an adorable personality, very affectionate. I work, and I find that when I go out, I leave the TV on, and he is fine. Lots of toys that I move around in a large cage. Mix up giving gum leaves and branches for toys ( I live in Australia), and some greens. So far apple, kale and spinnach he likes..or rather shreds around his cage lol. Just managed to get him to bathe , little splashes in a bowl with some grass in it, warm water, at least a start. Not very noisy, will wolf whistle, and when goinf to sleep chatters away, grinds the beak and seems he is going over his day. He does not make the chatty noises when having his usual day. I put him out in the shady sun when I can, or in front of an open window, so he gets sun, and not just UV heat. I have him eating a seed pellet mix, and use a veggie mix, and fruit mix also in a different dish to make sure he eats it. The veggies are dried, as are the fruits, so far all he will eat fresh is apple.
I have 2 budgies and I’m thinking about getting a cockatiel. The cages would be side by side but not in the same cage. Would this be ok? Also, I go to school 8.20am-3.30pm, should I get one or two?
Side by side cages will be fine, and your school schedule is ok as well, as long as the birds are getting attention from you daily. Ideally, you'll want to spend at least a couple of hours interacting with your tiel if it's alone. If you cannot commit to that, then a pair may be best!
The Cockatiel Corner I wanted to get one alone, but before school and after school it will have lots of interaction. I thought my budgies might be a source of entertainment too
I wonder if they potty very often. I once had a finch and he left tracks everywhere inside the house. How does a cockatiel behave outside the cage at home regarding this issue... Thank you for your answer🙏💕
aww my mum has a grey, yellow and white Cockatiel named Sid, he was abused when he was two years old and now he is happy and whistles his heart out everyday.
Alex Colderley Wow, I have a cockatiel (grey, white, and yellow too!) who was also abused. We rescued her and she’s happy too! What a coincidence.
Glad he is in a better place and state. Very cool choice of name :-).
Sad my heart milted
As long as you give them love they are happy
our older cockatiel just hit 21 years.
Woew!!congrats!! I hope mine will get there looovee himm
he has had some rough spots over the years, several illnesses. I learned how to give shots pretty good to the little feathered bugger.
So how's he doing now? That must have been one healthy cockatiel to live through 21 years :)
He's healthy and strong. Has a messed up wing due to a previous injury, so he can't fly. He does look old, though. Still very active, sings and plays. Unfortunately, he's a biter, he has to be in just the right mood to be touched.
I never own a cockatiel but I be getting one in a week or so at petsmart
Another con is that these birds will SCREAM for attention if they don't feel they're getting enough, and they are extremely loud. Vicky There are very social animals, maybe next time you watch tv you can perch them on your shoulder
Vicky males are loud . females are not
Llama Girl Alo i had female and male cockatiel my female laid unfertilized eggs 🥚 too but ever since male died she stopped laying eggs its been 2 years. when i leave her she screams also but in the cage she never screams literally never while male was screaming nonstop
My old female literally screamed if I changed the channel on the TV. She was such a sassy little lady lol. Sadly she passed away 2 years ago. However I'm glad to have spent 10 years with her :) RIP baby x
Vicky i heard you can kinda train them to be quiet if ya don't give em attention untiknthey stop screaming
If I teach my cockatiel to whistle then I'm going to teach it the hunger games whistle
James Jones Vlogs DO IT
I taught mine the whistle of happy and you know it, used to amuse me loads haha
*goes And buys bird to do this*
I taught mine how to whistle the Andy Griffith theme song 😂.
lol I've seen some whistling the Darth Vader theme so I'm sure it'll be no problem
You are such a happy and cheerful person, love watching you talk about these lovely birds!
Thank you. That is very kind of you, and thanks for watching!!!
I miss my old cockatiel. he was my mom's boyfriends. we took care of him. his name was Chuck. he died at 23. rest in peace Chuck.
Robert Gabe Lucio damn 23 years? He lived his life
Velxin yes he did
the cockatiel was your mom's boyfriend?
Rest in piece.
Thanks for the information........I m really looking forward to own one
My cockatiel is a cat in a birds body
Same
also NEVER keep them in the cage for their whole lives, you wouldnt like that so they wouldnt either
Yeah... I would never live that... ever... >.>
666 Squaremint 666 They have to be out for atleta an hour a day for exersise, socializing etc.
the only times i put mine on the cage is when its time to sleep and when im going out somewhere everytime im home hes everywhere
Some plz help me,,, how to take care of a cockteil in winter,,, i mean hw to keep them warm
Great video of some basic pros and cons! I have a Green Cheek Conure here at home and she had a bit of a reaction to the squeaks and whistles!
+Leslie Richards Awe, how cute that your Conure reacted to the videos. Conures are some of my favorite birds!
+The Cockatiel Corner Are they scared of being touched by people? do they need to be tamed and are they easier to be trained than Finches?
You are such a Sweet and Cheerful Lady KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
They love to be with people as stated in the video, so I assume they won't mind being touched, just make sure they know what you're doing, don't come up behind them and try to pet them, it could startle them
Hii great advice, very nice,l love so much my cockatiel,he really enjoys my company, wants to be on my shoulder all the time, and if i have to go somewhere he will whiste for me to come back, yeah i would advise that you should only have cockatiels if you have a lot of time to spend with them cause they will be sad and depressed otherwise, they love us
My cockatiel always flys/ walks to my shoulder and tickles me
Awe
I bought my bird when my son moved out. After two weeks my son came to visit and my bird was in love with him so much so that when he drove up she would scream when she saw his car.
I started crying in this vid cuz it reminds me of my old cockateil I had 3 yrs ago :c
Gennesis poor baby im so sorry😢
"They enjoy being with their humans"
My birds: CEASE FILTHY HUMAN!
Same same...

This is a great video! I love how Syd just hopped back onto your shoulder! What a cute little fella!

I didn't have to convince my parents, and the reason is very sad.
My budgie was killed right in front of me. I couldn't do a thing. :(
Abdulkarim Elnaas dog. Labrador retriever.
+Abdulkarim Elnaas thanks.
I want a cockatiel sooo bad but I don't have the money. But I do have 2 budgies😁👍

I love my Cockatiels & Budgies, they have completely changed my life for the better ♥
Great video, i have the exact same colour male cockatiel 3yr...hand rared...full of mood swings etc...great member of the family!
This video helped me decide to buy one a year ago.
Mine knew how to unlock the cage and get out
1821 Pajaro twisty ties are great for that
SAME MiNE DOES!
Thanks for the honest info... I been researching a lot about getting a bird. Been wanting to know what to expect. Definitely want to research more before I commit.
Didn’t even think about possible allergy issues. Good you brought it up! Some cats make me sneeze like mad.

Randomly stumbled upon your video... I don't own nor am I looking into owning a cockatiel but your presentation of information is superb !
He is so cute!! I love the white and the grey in his face is cute. I notice that he doesn't have round orange air patches too. My cockatiel is a female and she is 20 years old and still going strong and healthy. She is actually chirping a lot write now because she can hear the birds in this video.

Oh my goodness, thanks so much!

Why am I watching this? I already have a cockatiel XD
thank you so much for this video
it was incredibly helpful
i am going to get a bird but after watching this video i think I'll get a cockatiel
Great video, straight to the point. Also what a cute bird!!
Question:
Would cockatiels be ok for college life? He’s going to live very long, and I don’t want to give him away.
FoxyTheFoxAndFriends e when u can take care of them ofc (u need at least 2)
They can be good for a college student. If living in a dorm, understand they can be messy and noisy, so that may not go over well with roommates or neighbors. They also require several hours of attention daily, so make sure you have enough time to spend with a bird. If not, a pair may be more ideal which means....more noise, more messy :-).
It is possible that you can also foster or adopt so they have a few more years on them.
Rodney’s World yes it is possible!
And by that u would be rescuing a bird in need! But it would be harder for u to tame/bond with it
I had a cockatiel and I was in love. They are wonderful pets.
You are always so cheerful 😄!
I love it
I just got a cockatiel and named her Yuri! Unfortunately she's a little biter but we're letting her settle in and eventually train her to be hand tame. She is the bird in my profile picture.
How is she now?
Yuri The Cockatiel Wow she's gorgeous! I'm getting a white face cockatiel this weekend and I'm gonna name them Archimedes :) How is yours going? Does she still bite? :c
Great video! Very direct and fluent speech.
Thank you!
that grey and white cockatiel looks so beautiful
That’s an adorable cockatiel!
She has so much energy!

Excellent tutorial!!! I would love to get one and let it fly around the house whenever I was home.
He’s right for me! And, I already did research on them, so I know about what I need to do! I’m buying one in 2 weeks! Omg,
i want to get a cockatiel i've never had a bird before but i have had other pets
Sentoki Fuma did u get one
No, i'm getting another lizard to breed them, once i get enough money i will get one.
Sentoki Fuma can you make videos again plz
What should i post?
I have a yellow and grey cockatiel. But this one is so beautiful!
Thank you!!
I'm getting one in a few weeks when the people im buying it from have one that I can hold and I'm super exited to see it you got a new subscriber than,s
I mean thanks
I love your videos! Subscribed! You have such a pleasant personality and are very informed.
I've been wanting a green cheek conure for forever. But once I saw how pretty these birds were and how pretty their chirping is, I really want one. This would be my first bird and I really want to pick the right one. So wish me luck on my research!
hello! im getting a cockatiel this week... i really wanted to ask if clipping his wings are gonna hurt him? or make him cranky and angry?
James is correct. If done properly it doesn't hurt at all, and they grow back in a few weeks like cutting hair. Llama Girl Alo they will still trust you if you clip their wings
Only mentally ill sadist would clip bird's wings
Why would you even consider adopting an animal who is made for flight if you don't want an animal that flies?
@@MsBlonde0000 agreed!
Thanks, I'm looking to buy one for my birthday. Bad thing is my mom is terrified of birds but she's trying to conquer her fear. Thanks this helped alot.

I adore these beautiful creatures ❤️
Yo I’m late but I just needed to stay how beautiful your bird is❤️
This is an excellent informative video. Well done and thanks.
This was extremely helpful advice cause I really want a cockatiel and might be getting one for Christmas. I subscribed, btw
Thank you!!
U are such a good RUclips or I love to watch your videos!!!!!
Im so glad I came to this video. If I got a cockatiel without knowing it's pros and cons I would've gotten my mom to have bad allergies with the dandruff
Hello! I was wondering you guys opinion, should I get a cockatiel or lovebird? I am in 7th grade and get out of school at 2:45
Good information. Thank you
mine just had 4 chicks !
I go and stay to school 7 hours (at least I will in september) so if you do not have another thing to do and stay away from home for a little too long its best you get 2 maybe get one and when you can afford another one get it
@@Alatreon2435 thank you! You helped alot
@@-oceanman-315 no problem
I remember I was volunteering at a bird rescue place, and I heard a Cockatiel whistling and singing. It had such a pretty voice. I wish I could have a bird, but unfortunately, I do not live in my own home, and it is not bird-proofed. 🥺
I wanted to add that for asthma/allergy sufferers, you can invest in an air purifier to set in the room the cockatiel will live in. They are pricey but are great at eliminating the dander from the air and also reduce dust in rooms overall :)
Yes, yes, yes ... Cockatiels are awesome friends ❤
Good information, thanks. I am leaning toward parakeets, though I could always change my mind. Good to know however about the dander. I have allergies. So that one would be a definite no.
can't wait to get mine!
This is one of the better bird videos I have seen today. The other one I saw was very boring and the host did not have a great vocabulary.
Thank you for your informative video
Wow thanks for all the amazing tips I really want one so I will remember theses great tips thanks
This is a very helpful video! Thanks!
Thank you!
Thanks for helping me for my care for my bird!!!!!
Your cockatiel is beautiful!
I have an adorable Moluccan Cockatoo named Mozart! He is just like Sydney he’s always dancing around!
Hello there, watching from Philipines ❤. Your cockatiel looks great
I have 2 budgies and I’m thinking about getting a cockatiel.
The Cockatiel Corner
I wanted to get one alone, but before school and after school it will have lots of interaction. I thought my budgies might be a source of entertainment too
I lost mine at 10 years :(
He got sick, took to vet. He died in my arms giving meds. I miss him so much!
I got mine today! 😊
I'm going to be getting a Cockatiel in just a few weeks!
This little guide or tip I agree on with my cockatiel 😀
This video really helped me out! :)
I wonder if they potty very often. I once had a finch and he left tracks everywhere inside the house. How does a cockatiel behave outside the cage at home regarding this issue... Thank you for your answer🙏💕
Very informative! Thank you!
Great video! You seem like a lovely person and pet owner :)
