As much as people want to hate on this setup. For an older porsche with a blown engine, this is the only realistic option for an engine swap. The porsche engines are just too expensive when you already put the money down for a porsche roller.
Yep... Nearly 20k for a used m97 NA motor is whack. LS is cheaper, lighter, and more powerful.
Aaron seems like he would be a hell of a supervisor or whatever his title was. I know is a master mechanic. I'm assuming that meant he was the boss under richard. He always seemed to give his guys the recognition they deserved. I'd work for him any day.
No offense but the show is staged . In this episode when trying to start the car Arron is diagnosing Multi-port fuel injection without the aid of a laptop or scan tool ! In-fact throughout the entire Fast N Loud series there has only been two episodes where a laptop even came near one of their builds and it wasn't even the shops . Good seasoned techs refer to data before condemning parts or circuits . Little tidbit ... MAP sensor does not an abbreviation for Manifold Pressure but instead " Manifold Ambient Pressure and yes there is a difference !
Richards a salesman not a car guy
Richard is a businessman. He is a car guy in a sense, but he knows he has employees and other responsibilities. He cannot throw money at nothing. Maybe he knows mechanics well, maybe he doesn't, but he knows car history.
Just imagine stroking that v8 and upgrading the internals…..

The 996 has around 340 hp they said. The turbo s has 560. And german engineering. Pretty clear to me.

I don't know what the GM engine weighs, but I assume a lot more than the Porsche engine.

This video is 100% inaccurate. I built a 525hp LS3 994 C4 in the UK and raced it against a 911 turbo S. The Turbo S was loads quicker.

Fact: Chevy aluminum block LS v8 weight the same as m96 flat 6
I’m not expert but ls motors are pretty light because of the aluminum that they use and because of how they engineered the engine it’s actually a really small v8 compared to other v8 so it honestly won’t change much of the weight distribution or weight of the car in general

If you would've turbocharged the 00 it would've beaten the 16
All it would take is an exhaust and intercoolers with tune for the 16 to beat a turbo setup on the 00 unless they did a full engine build that wouldn't grenade from big boost.

Detroit Michigan corvette engine making 430hp to the wheels... are you even american? Why would Texans use a foreign v8. The parts and upgrades are so cheap. With another 5k in engine mods the silver car would have smoked the green one. And still been cheaper. American v8s are the easiest and most simple to install and swap also.

@@cino4919 the LS swap is actually a common replacement for 996s. It more or less fits right in and even mates to the stock transmission. It weighs about the same as the M96 so it keeps the same balance, and runs more than half the cost of a replacement M96 and still quite a bit cheaper than a full M96 engine rebuild. Whether people like having a non Porsche engine in there is not the concern of most people that do it, it's hard to deny why they chose to go that route.
