Keep up the good work. You're getting better each post.
Thank you for the support brother!!
Great work Jason! Yours is the 1st Industrial tin how to I've seen. Yet they're such an important part of the cooling on a motor with J-pipes.
Thanks brother, glad you like the video!!
Just want to say I'm enjoying your content. Keep up the good work.
Thanks brother appreciate that!! Glad that you are enjoying it!! 👍😎👍
Great video buddy! Turned out awesome!
Thank you very much brother!!
Nice work, definitely like the tin upgrade.
Thanks brother... thought it would be a good one to cover with everyone. I know when I found out about these tins I thought it was a great idea.
Great information.
Thanks brother glad you liked it!!
Great video guy.Keep them houng
Thanks Jeff!! I'll keep them coming brother!!
Nice video!
Thank you brother!! Glad you liked it!
Nice Job!!!
Thanks brother!!
Industrial quality tins are BIGGER, BETTER, and a PITA to work with at times. But you are using 28 gauge, so that's not bad.
Another thing about coatings on stored parts. Don't be surprised to go clean off a part that was manufactures say 5 years ago, and find rust building UNDER the protective coating.
And you just keep improving the quality. I told you you would.
Moe
Yeah... may upgrade to a 16gauge eventually... we'll see how these hold up.
Thanks Moe!! just doing what I love man... working on my baby and sharing with whoever will listen... lol
I need a set!
You can always make your own or check out the video description for a link to Awesome Powder Coating.
Love the information and little tips... Just need to upgrade the welder to gas and stop using flux. Also I noticed your wire speed seemed slow.
Thanks for being here!! Yup just started welding I definitely want to upgrade soon.
Nice video. I just removed some underseal of my front quarter panels and they where replaced after a previous owner crashed it... however these still have this black transportation and storage paint underneath. But what's surprising is they've held up pretty well. Apart from where they replaced the new quarters directly over the originals lol
That's crazy... I guess the rust didn't get up in there.. lol but that is good!
@@JWClassicVW yeah it's pretty bad where they welded the original panel to the new one and then welded it all the way down next to the door seam rather than spot welding to to the seam and then filled it with filler... But that's only part of the mess ha.. All fun and games
@@GT.Bugger it will only bring you two closer... lol 😁😂🤣
I’ve seen a couple of comments that say to wrap your headers. I think and prefer to ceramic coating. They work great for me. I will admit it not as cool looking as a nice wrapped header.
Just a thought.
Yup I'll be wrapping this time after I get the headers burnt in with a good run or two...
Jason good tip on the push rods would have never thought to clean them like that before installing in the motor. Do you put heat wrap cloth or tape around the headers. What your thoughts ; on my Nascar Herbie's Big block motor that CB Performace built I added the tape on my big flow header system. I have another idea of cooling, one day I will make it & do some testing. I now have the needed vw run test stand & non tough heat gun meter for data collecting.. My son help me add a fuel /air ratio gauge on my vw run test stand, we will do a video this week and show how it works , it's great for adjust carb. and different carb. set-up it will come in handy collecting good data.
Thanks Dan!! How you feeling buddy? Can't wait to see the O2 add on to the engine stand!!
Few questions. What kind of welder is that? I need to earn how to weld to fix my own parts and am looking to buy a welder, maybe from harbor freight. Can I do this job without welding, it look like you were using bolts to hold it before you upgraded. Also, are all the industrial tins too short like that? Why don’t people just make them the right size? Ok last question, are industrial tins just sheet metal that require you to modify your stock tins?
The tins are just meant to divert air when installing j-tubes with a larger header system. Sizes differ because exhaust systems, heads and cylinders can change what is needed. Custom builds outside the norm of a 1600 base will always require custom work. After market suppliers do try and fill the gap like EMPI but that can and will need work to fit as well. The welder I have is a flux core Lincoln I picked up from Home Depot, but I've been looking at the ones available at Harbor Freight as well.
I really like the way those look
great job I wish you have a link to download the dimensions to be able to make them 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed the video... I just uploaded the dimensions to the Facebook group files location. Here is the link:

@@JWClassicVW thanks man you don’t know how much help that is I’m 90% done with my first engine rebuild and this is going to help me a lot
Thanks again
Love your videos. Very informative, particularly those of us who do not have an endless supply of cash. Do have a question though. I purchased a used set of slightly used cima 90.5 pistons with a cast 82 mm scat crank which I would like to use to build my own low budget 2110. Intend to use it as a nice cruiser engine. Your opinion??
Build it brother!! Make sure to inspect the rings and check the gap in the cylinders. Then I would hone the cylinders just to help with seating the rings. For the crank I would probably have it turned at a machine shop and at the same time have them size the bearings for the case and rods. Then you'll know that they are matched correctly.
Thank you for the info.
@JW Classic VW - Has adding the industrial shields made your engine run cooler? Do you ever have issues with the motor in your bug running hot in summer? If so, what have you done to help with that? Great video, thanks for posting!
Yes I've definitely seen a decrease in engine temps with these tins added... also the external oil cooler makes a big difference. During the really hot summer day I honestly won't run her... I'll wait until the evening for a night cruise.
@@JWClassicVW Thanks, and man, I love that bug of yours----it's a beauty!
Jason - I really enjoy watching your videos. I have a request: Could you at some time do a video on how to lower (or raise) an adjustable beam on a bug? There are none on RUclips that are very good, and that would be interesting and helpful to a lot of V-dub enthusiasts---thanks!
Jason.... Come marry my daughter. I need a Texan in the family.
She comes with a 70 Beetle 1600.
Lol... does she need a mechanic?
