I've heard people call murray "mentally weak" over the years based on struggling mentally a few times against the big 3, but it's such nonsense. A huge reason why he was so far ahead of everyone other than the 3 GOATs is his mental strength. Half of these matches are from years where he was in bad form (2014/2015) but back then, he was always able to rely on his heart and physicality to often snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. That's why he had such a legendary career. He could beat amazing players even when he was on his C game.
Agreed. Murray was not as strong mentally as Nadal or Djokovic (superhumans), but stronger than federer. The reality is the big three had weapons they could rely on in crunch moments against Murray which he didn't possess. They were just , in different ways, a tiny bit better at tennis than he was, but he was a legaue above all others.
Since when was Murray in poor form in '15?? He was as good, if not better in '15 than in '16. Only difference is that he didn't have to deal with the best version of Djokovic for half a season in '16.
For like 8 years, Murray was pretty much unbeatable to everyone EXCEPT the big 3. Delpo and Stan, Tsonga, maybe Ferrer, could have a go, but he was miles beyond them in consistency. this is why the whole 'big 4' thing started; nobody could get past him. he was in the QFs or later of every single slam from like 2009-16
shocking that people are only starting to put some respect on his name now that the big 3 era is over and we're realising just how GOOD everyone that peaked during those years were. Peak Murray would chew up the current top 10 and spit them out; he's maybe a top 15 player of all time. Just look at stats like match wins, win %, career titles, win rates against Big 3 etc etc if you don't believe me.
in every stat other than GS wins he is easily Top 10 all time, then the injuries happened and he eroded his stats, without the big 3 he easily wins 10 plus slams. 11 finals, all losses to fed and djokovic, how many semis and quarters did he also lose to them? crazy when you think about it.
yup en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Western_%26_Southern_Open_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_singles also he was still wearing adidas barricades, by 2016 he was wearing underarmor shoes
Not trying to take away credit from Murray here but from the highlights it looks more like Dimitrov and Paire choked hard rather than Murray being resilient
Happy 37th bday Andy! 🎈 Enjoy some more of his finest moments here: www.tennistv.com/players/andy-murray
Upload Murray vs rafa 2014 Rome extended highlights and Rafa vs Djokovic 2012 ,2014 Rome final extended..very much needed classic
Murray vs Gasquet at Wimbledon when Andy came back from 2 sets down and a break was when we knew we had a serious player on our hands

@@Horsbreh actually, Murray did beat Djokovic during the half where he (Djoko) was at his best.
@@Horsbrehhe was good early in 2015 but dropped his level after Wimbledon imo. 2016 his level didn’t start as high but by Wimbledon it was his peak.

Loving Andy here ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Vienna 2014 saved 5 match points against Robredo also a pivotal one was world tour finals 2016 semi finals against Milos.
Against Robredo it was in Valencia.
Don't forget that match against Philipp Kohlschreiber in Dubai 2017, he saved 7 (or more) match points

yup en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Western_%26_Southern_Open_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_singles
also he was still wearing adidas barricades, by 2016 he was wearing underarmor shoes
Unbelievable he played that last match with a metal hip!
I suspect that people who were negative towards Andy didn’t know anything about tennis .
I had an argument on here with someone who said a prime murray wouldn't beat a prime Medvedev on grass 😂😂
What a legend.
and vs kolschreiber????
Upload Rafa vs Murray 2014 Rome extended and Rafa vs fognini 2018 Rome extended highlights

*Cincinnati 2015 vs Dimitrov
Surprised they didn’t use the kok in the AO
