    Why are there so many jealous and bitter comments. Why can’t this performance just be enjoyed for what it is. How many are there out there that can actually hold a candle to this rendition?
    Relax… breath… enjoy… that’s what music and live performance is all about.

      Not bitter, concerned that a beautiful voice is being damaged

    She is the next Lise Davidsen, not the next Callas or Caballè. Seems obvious but too many of the nay sayers appear to ignore that.

    Me parece una voz grande y poderosa pero no consigue la uniformidad del timbre por no poseer una buena tecnica vocal. Lo siento.

    How very sad, for Lise Davidsen's voice was so much better singing "Dich teure Halle" 8 years ago, than singing the same piece in the last night of the Proms 2023. The vibrato was only just beginning in the early video, but now, sad to say, in 2023 every note was blighted by a harsh, unpleasant juddering. She needs to take a year off to study with a teacher in the secure Garcia tradition and get rid of that wobbly "spread tone" my wonderful teacher Oda Slobodskaya knew exactly how to eradicate. If she is to mature to full glory, for she obviously has a fine instrument, when singing Wagner, she needs to model herself on Flagstad and Nilsson who never forced or became squally and unsteady but could swell their voices quite ravishingly - and yes, I did hear them both, live. I do hope Lise Davidsen can be "saved" in time.

      I agree. What is also lacking is a true legato: we hear a string of beautiful unconnected notes instead of an unbroken ribbon of sound.

      I just saw her at the Bavarian state opera and it was not very good. Voice was lost to the orchestra on lower and middle register. She was nasal. Couldn’t understand what she was singing. Collapsed head voice. Wobble, as you stated. The only thing she had was a powerful upper range. Ab5 and above. Just very unbalanced voice. Didn’t sound pleasing to me at all. I will go listen to the video you mentioned from eight years ago. I’m interested to see what it sounds like.

    Her voice is completely placed in the throat.
    Because she opens her mouth too much, it's to see how her tongue completely slips and falls back into her throat. In addition, her neck and upper part of her body are so tense that She trembles when She sings.
    In addition, She has problems with Tosca, which is written quite low, more in the mezzo-soprano fach. So She is either a low soprano without high notes or a mezzo-soprano.
    In any case, She must simply forget to ever sing Wagner, Strauss, Mozart, Bellini and others. They are one of the greatest bel canto masters, while she is at an amateru level. Look also at her vowel placement… who opens wolves so much and so often completely different?!?! That is such a waste of energy and muscle. And one can't believe how small the voice actually is.
    It cannot carry anything while the orchestra is almost completely in silent mode!

      You have got to an American to make such pronouncements. Ill educated ones at that. Lise has sung Wagner, Strauss, and Verdi at Bayreuth, Covent Garden and the Met - to great acclaim. Her diary is fully booked for the next five years. She's sung with the Berlin Philharmonic who have more knowledge about music in their finger nail clippings than some jumped up little scrote from Six Toes, Alabama with delusions of adequacy. Honestly why are Septics so confidently wrong all of the time? It's bewildering.

    • @marieantoinette3857
      @marieantoinette3857 Год назад +4

      @@aberlioness She is so "acclaimed" and awesome that she contributed to the fact that all the places you mention, where she sang, struggle with completely empty halls and poor singers. If She is so acclaimed and good, then why the empty halls? Shouldn't they be full? Acclaimed at 30? You're only acclaimed at the end of your career, but the way she sings and the kind of ugly ingolata vibrato she has, the end of her career will come at lightning speed. It is such a quiet thing to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.
      She will not need to wait until she is 60, because she already sings like she is at least 80 years old.
      And then you think, Gruberova sang Zerbinetta at the age of 60+, flawlessly, perfect without any problem and that the voice still remained fresh, young, beautiful... I don't know what kind of knowledge or school you have to have to compare such a simple matter? I guess it is rocket science.

      The voice is HUGE. Evidently to call her voice small is simply an oxymoron and misses the whole point of this rendition of Vissi d’arte. The fact that she can shrink her decibels factory to a whisper while singing Tosca is a plus not a minus. Who knows if she will be able to continue doing that but so far so good

  • @stephaniebeames1310

    A beautiful voice, however her pronunciation and placement of the italian is sometimes incorrect as written in the score. And no, you cannot just decide to change it because you want to. I also find the voice covered unnecessarily. Just unleash the voice and let it go, it is already beautigul enough. Finally, this aria comes in the opera after a huge big emotional sing with Scarpia, and she still has to go on to kill him and sing ghe last act. Lovely in performance with an orchestra but not a likely rendition within the opera itself. Signed, Floria Tosca.

      Her voice ......for our days with all these horrible weak voices, she has a real thrilling instrument.....but I am not sure when Mrs Davidsen sings Elisabetta/ Verdi or Tosca....is it the right repertoire for her ? She has to be careful with her huge gift.

      Funny you said "you cannot just decide to change it because you want to", that is actually what all the great singers did, including Callas. What makes you think that composer expected to sing their music purely 'come scritto'?
      I saw Davidsen many times live: Sieglinde, Elisabeth, Giorgetta, Elisabeth and Maschallin, in all performances she was impressive, extremely musical and tasteful.
      If people recognize her more for the Wagner/Strauss portrayals is simply because an instrument like hers is so rare, that is particularly extraordinary to see nowadays a voice that could compare itself (in size, brightness and sheer volume) to Nilsson or Jones.
      Why would you think that this performance would not be particularly successful in a full performance?

    • @meisterwue
      @meisterwue Год назад +1

      @@Wotan123456789 in a certain way, You are right about come scritto .....in the times of Haendel the singers they gave themselves the right to create a part with their own notes , same for the time of Rossini ....and the composers gave their placet ( Verdi still did in his earlier years )....and it is my opinion since my first listening to Lise Davidsen : extraordinary voice in our days but Mrs Davidsen should be careful choosing her roles and I envy You a little because of Your personal experience live.....
