He might not be as polished as the singer they put in the movie, but he has a sincerity that is needed.
Absolutely gorgeous. what a touching moment in this film! This level of tender love and caring could never be captured by mainstream Hollywood nowadays
Should have used Plummer's actual voice. Though it was not perfect it was how a voice sounds when not used in a while. Yet it still was on key perfectly. It would have fit with the film narrative much better.
Did the creators of this film intentionally packed so much bitter-sweetness in this film that many of us cant stop watching this film, yet we can't stop feeling so much sadness and nostalgia and inexpressible amount of love and joy all at once?
I don’t see any bitterness just a wonderful family story of Love and beautiful music with helpful people to assist the family for a HAPPY ending .

Can’t help of all the old emotions this songs evokes from the bottom of my soul & what a role it had in my childhood. This is the most beloved musical I have ever seen, I was just a young girl when I watched this movie , I absolutely loved it, it's also how I learned how to sing most of my raising was by watching musicals thanks to my father and I still love them
I am in Salzburg … a life long dream because I loved the Sound of Music so much. This was my favorite song. Christopher Plummer so special in this movie and love hearing his voice!

She wouldn’t have tried to have this train of thought where she would’ve been like oh, you can’t sing as well as me so I’m going to outshine you know I don’t think she would’ve done that. I really don’t.

Honestly this has been the best movie out n it has lasted for so many generations n it is just a classic show I love it every time i hear any part of the show n it takes me straight back to my childhood Absolutely spectacular 😊

I just love how i was able to hear Christopher's own voice. He did well with singing the song. I wish the producers didn't do the dubbing. He is super handsome.
Hearing Christopher Plummer doing his own singing, I simply don't understand why the powers-that-be decided he needed to dubbed. He has a fine, rich voice --- and I find it difficult to find much a difference between Plummer and Bill Lee (who did the dubbing). In any case, this is a treat and thanks so much for posting it.

oh, this is going to make me cry like a baby. my mom would sing me this song as a baby, it was the only way to make me fall asleep. the “unconfident and untrained” sound (which isn’t even *that* apparent) reminds me of the way my mom would sing it.

I've always thought Charmian Carr was lovely; I presume that is her joining in too.
Wish she had done more movies.She said in an interview that her and Plummer were staying at the same hotel.Everynight he would drink and play piano at the bar.

I always avoided watching it because I thought it would be stupid and boring but my husband put it on the other night and I LOVED it. I laughed, I cried. Movies don't hold my attention like they used to, but this one did. It was so pure and sweet and lovely.
And Christopher Plummer is SO handsome in it.

He himself didn't think it was good enough - he knew it was going to be dubbed (I think he worked with Bill Lee on it). I agree, he sings it nicely. It _is_ a "small" voice. (Perhaps OK for a room setting - maybe he didn't think it was strong enough for the concert hall later in the movie? See other videos about it - there are several.)

OK, this is probably gonna be controversial, but I don’t know why they didn’t let him do his own singing I mean OK maybe he’s not on Julie Andrews level but at the same time it’s not like he can’t carry a tune at all because as we can hear he clearly can carry a tune.
I heard Christopher Plummer being interviewed about this matter when he said that altho he could sing he was definitely not in the same league as Julie Andrrews and for the reason that he didn't want to embarrass himself he chose to have someone else sing the song

It makes me crazy that this song is frequently cut from TV, and even musicals. It is so lovely, and it is central to the movie plot as well as to the response of the Australn populace in WWII. It was (is?) the Austrian national flower, a symbol that was used to covertly resist the Nazis.

When I saw this movie for the first time I didn’t understand it the meaning of the movie. I enjoyed it and the music was the reason as a young child kept me singing. I can’t remember at what age it was when it hit me. So I cried and I still watch it till this day. I’m four generations in watching musicals with my grandkids.
