I’m glad that he later realized his own immaturity about her and admitted that he was wrong. He was a magnificent actor. I have seen several of his movies and always enjoyed watching them. He was terribly handsome and I loved seeing him act in whatever role he played. Julie Andrews was the most beautiful person. There is nothing I can say about her that probably hasn’t already been said. I haven’t seen all of her movies but I have seen most of them. I loved her in every single one of them. She is so endearing and elegant. I can’t say enough good about her.😊 Working together in The Sound of Music they make a wonderful couple, devoted to each other, to the children and to Austria. I’ve read the book about the real Von Trap family and it was quite interesting. Very interesting and inspiring, even though so much of it was changed from the original book. Both the real story and the movie story were really good. I’ve seen the movie and theater productions several times and loved everyone of them.❤😊
Julie Andrews is the most talented, classy, sophisticated, kind, mature, gorgeous woman I have ever known. She is one of the best singers as well. I think that Mr. Plummer couldn't deal with playing next to the most incredible talent out there. I am glad that they became friends later on in life.
I have seen the movie when I was only 16yrs old, and kept viewing it as i have a tape of it. Am 75 now and seen it again in u tube! Oh wow! I really love the movie, one in a million movie!
I adored Julie Andrews as a teenager and was a singer myself, but I felt very bad for Emma when Blake Edwards put her mother in movie after movie after movie and the little girl was almost motherless for those years.
Plummer should have been grateful for his part in a film that has been enjoyed by millions and still is. These actors are paid to do a job and complaining about their role is just not on, and so is ignoring the young actors in the film and whatever else he was doing. I really hope it is true he became friendly with Julie who was kindly looking after the youngsters. Actors should be grateful they get work in a precarious profession and stop moaning. They should keep their views to themselves instead of causing disillusioned to their audience.
I loved the movie "The Sound Of Music" I saw it twice. would have done it more times than that if I could afford it at the time. Awesome acting all around.
Christopher Plummer's initial opinion of Julie was arrogant and immature, which I believe existed then because of his alcoholism. At some point, he seems to have changed his attitude toward her. I think he was simply jealous of her in the beginning, and then he grew up, at some point, and accepted her as the good person she is. And they gradually became friends. I'm glad that happened. And the rest is historry.
The von Trapps left for more than just financial- they said we can have our honor or our home. They did not agree with what Hitler was doing and left everything behind.. The oldest son had just graduated from medical school and refused a position bc of what they were doing - they had just made all the Jewish doctors leave. They had already lost most of their money, but they still have the house and furnishings which were very nice, as well as all their friends. The original seven children were teenagers or older by then, and they all voted to leave. Maria and Georg had 2 little girls and she was pregnant with their 3rd (his 10th), a boy, when they left. I recommend her autobiographical books, I believe there are two. I also recommend a biography, because it tells a lot about her personality, that she doesn’t mention. Apparently, she was quite difficult at times The real oldest daughter, Agatha, wrote a wonderful book that tells all about their life before Maria. and a lot of other true information that covers the period of the movie as well as after. Also check out the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont.
To his eternal credit, Christopher Plummer reevaluated his prior opinion of Julie Andrews but as far as the role of Georg Von Trapp is concerned, it was not really a role he could sink his teeth into and he did find the movie overall too saccharine for his urbane taste level. I saw him on stage in the role of John Barrymore and it was a better vehicle for his colossal talent. The Sound of Music was however a charming classic well suited to families. But sophisticated?...uh, not so much...
When i found out that Christopher Plummer was Gay, i knew he didn’t love either th baronnes or Julie. At the age of 74,i still love the music (i despise him) Since i saw it when it first came out, his sex preference didn’t affect me at all.
That's OK.. James Garner adored working with Julie Andrews, and said she was the best kisser he ever met! Plummer was too busy flirting with the teenagers in Sound of Music, and Julie blocked him for them, the girls that is. So, she stopped him from bothering them, and gave them peace and protection when making the movie. If he didn't like Julie Andrews, I'd call it a complement... she saw him for the ass he was/is and this makes her even greater in my eyes. No one likes an egomaniac flirt forcing himself on children. A man who thinks he's hot... when he's not even luke warm!

Julie Andrews is far to classy to talk smack about plummer.

I meant they should not dissolution their loyal audience.

During World War 1 Georg von Trapp was a successful U-Boat captain in the Austro-Hungarian Navy.

Even major jerks can grow up and admit they were wrong. I still love the movie even with the modifications and poetic licenses taken.
I was rooting for the Baroness, portrayed by the incredible Eleanor Parker.
It was a great movie and a talented cast.
Because she had 10x more talent than he had

Plummer was jealous and immature. He was brazen and did not realize the world had more than one side, not just shady or seedy.
Love the Movie and Julie! Chris "Plumber" is arrogant and inappreciative. BUT, he was perfectly cast in this movie.
Talk about a beat up. Journalistic diatribe.
Ouch
