Sure, you have a limited amount of supplies, but to expect a doctor to just kill the guy, I don't think that's very realistic. That being said, once he was shot in the chest, did you notice Jake go into the tent, and then you didn't hear the guy any more? This show likes to dole out information slowly. lol, so you're going to have to be a little patient. We've already seen they like to use flashbacks, so maybe there's hope that you'll learn more.

Maybe euthanasia isn't murder for you, but apparently it is for Jack. When Kate puts the idea to him, he replies that he is not a murderer. Which implies that he considers it murder. Then, Sawyer's mistake pushes him to end the Marshall's suffering, becoming what he did not want to be according to his convictions: a murderer. The title of the episode is important to understand why Jack doesn't want to know what Kate did before the crash. Jack wasn't a murderer but now he is. The crash on the island changed his life and he thinks everyone does, including Kate. Knowing what she did no longer matters, because what matters is what she is on the island. Tabula Rasa meaning erase everything, start from scratch.

People have been shot in the head and survived ! The antibiotic argument is pointless as they have not established a leader. That is a a leadership decision - who lives and who dies. Jack is a doctor, so can not make that decision because he saves lives... whether there is a 99% chance or a 0.01% chance... Jack is going to do everything to save a life.
So, what you're saying is, you want to know What Kate Did? Fans were literally screaming at the creators wanting to know. It's the thing they were asked the most. To be clear, euthanasia is totally murder. It entirely depends where in the world you live. But even where euthanasia is legal, there is paperwork and safeguards, you can't just kill someone. So, yeah, from a legal standpoint, killing the Marshal is murder. But yeah, it's a moral conundrum. Everyone is going to have a different opinion. And this is going to be a show which asks moral questions.

This show is very, very good and highly surprising. I am in the camp of not being a great fan of the ending, but more of that in many episodes.
