A lot of people didn't like Evengeline's character during the show, I liked it. As you watch the show things will be revealed and you'll find out about the events that happened in this episode and you'll probably understand why she is like this. Without going into spoilers, that small plane was a gift from the man she loved, the man she killed, it was to her the equivalent of a very personal love letter. She didn't want anyone to know that part of her life.
There are no good or bad characters in this show. They all do both terrible and wonderful things. They all broke the commandments and committed mortal sins, but we still sympathize with them.
Perhaps the French woman remembers her child, who was kidnapped on the island, so she writes the words from a song about a fish from a cartoon, which in the plot is also lost
Also, a lot of people shit on Kate about the case, but she had more right to that case than anybody else! It literally contained something that belonged to her! And ok, Jack Shepherd is probably my favorite tv character of all time. I'm a Jack Shepherd stan, hell! I'm a Jack Shepherd SIMP. But come on guys! What right did he have to treat Kate like that? To DEMAND answers? To get in her face when he didn't like the answer? That's HER business. She doesn't have to say SHIT to anybody, about anything. And the same goes for Sawyer only worse because he's constantly objectifying her at the same time. People think this episode is a bad look for Kate, I say this episode is a bad look for those boys!! Couple of jerks, both of em. But that's the point, everyone on the island has the capacity to say and do the wrong things the majority of the time, but we love them because they're all doing their dang best! Unfortunately, especially on reaction channels, Kate doesn't get that kind of empathy and understanding. She gets condemned for much lesser sins than just about everyone else on the island and they straight up refuse to forgive her. She's the only one who doesn't get a pass. I have high hopes for this channel though!
Danielle Rousseau included the lyrics to "La Mer", a song written by French lyricist Charles Trenet (1913-2001), in her notes on the Island. Since it is a popular French song that was first recorded in the 1940s, Danielle Rousseau was probably familiar with it since childhood.
I know you said you're an X-Files fan -- did you recognize the song? In English it's "Beyond the Sea" -- featured in and the title of an absolutely amazing X-Files season 1 episode.
Loving this Lost journey with you. I especially love your kitties. We lost our precious Sebastian Honey (a special needs ginger) two years ago next month. Please give your kitties a tummy rub for me.
We know her real name is Kate at this point because the Marshal called her Kate in her first flashbacks. So it's not a spoiler to say any other names she uses here on out are false names.
Thanks, really enjoying your reactions. Your doing a great job of analyzing the information you've been given and trying to make sense of it. You may be right or not, but either way, this will serve you well as we go along. As always, outro thoughts/comments very good. 🌴😎🌺
She knows the song from Finding Nemo. Nemo was also Lost ;)

The scene where Shannon sings is the scene that I fell in love with her character.

When I first learned that Bobby Darin's Beyond the Sea is actually a French song, Le Mer.

The safe deposit box # is 815. Same as the flight # of the plane.
Carmen, this episode takes place over days 21 - 22 after the crash of Oceanic Flight
