I've noticed this from the very first video of yours I watched. But I will finally say it here and now. Carla has the best smile on RUclips; period. :-)
Great job on the video! So glad to hear y’all like the 1172. My wife and I are really enjoying our 2021 1172. I’m 6’07” and can actually stand up straight in the camper! And the factory couch is quite comfortable. It’s so nice to have a comfy place to sit when we’re stuck inside due to inclement weather. There’s not much at all to dislike about the camper. It’s a great way to travel compared to our travel trailers and fifth wheel we had prior to owning this one. Safe travels and may God bless you both!
I'm 6'7" also and have been looking high and low for a taller person perspective on these. I would prefer a truck camper, but feel like I'd only fit inside a tall travel trailer. If you tell me you are comfortable in the bathroom you'll sell me on it.
@@swc1355 I am quite comfortable. The skylight over the shower will allow you to stand up straight without issue. The bathroom is small but it’s fine. I can shave in front of the mirror just fine. A little cramped but I make it work just fine.
Great camper love your channel I’ve learned a lot watching, I just took delivery of my Ram 5500 after 7 months of waiting and also bought a new Eaglecap 1165 that I’m going to put on it now the fun begins, thanks again for all the info you guys put out
Just stopped in to say I love your name. Back in the 70s I did a weekly comic strip in our local paper. It's name was Runaway Rosie. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. 😊
Thanks for subscribing to our channel and helping us out .We have been watching you guys off and on for a long time. That Lance sure is a nice one. That camper has some big tanks , I am impressed
We are on our third lance camper. The first one was a 2005 and we upgraded to a 2015 855S. We just got delivery of our 1172 in May after ordering it in July 2021. We absolutely love it, it is beautiful. We are very happy with it
Thanks for sharing your reasoning and opinions regarding Your experience with the Big Foot vs the Lance Campers. This content helped me with some of my confusing priorities of my next camper I buy. I sure love the 2020 Lance window much better than the plastics bubble windows on the new 2023 campers they will scratch easy and I doubt the view is very nice looking through the fish bowl style windows. Thanks for you honesty and willingness to tell like it is for you guys. Take Care!
Although we have had some issues with our Lance trailer, we still love the overall fit and finish of it. We are so excited for you guys to be back in a Lance. It looks really nice and so spacious for a truck camper. Thanks for the tour!
Hey TWD, It's kind of crazy to change again but we really did love our last Lance and we wanted more space so we knew which direction to go. We got the biggest TC Lance makes. As you know none of them are perfect but we really did enjoy spending three weeks in it going to the Tetons. Take Care and Thanks for watching!
Hey Kenny, You're right it is a bit of a beast not only in size but weight. LOL It is comfortable to spend time in though. We enjoy your videos each week. Keep up the good work but try not to wear you self out. I know how it is. Safe travels ~ Todd
My favorite truck camper is the Host 10.5 either with the double theater seats or the single recliner.... But your Lance 1172 truck camper is very nice also....I would have left those chairs in the camper makes it look more homey....
i highly highly recommend Thomas Payne recliners. Its what KZ trailers use and they are very nice and made to go in campers. there's a name for recliners that actually recline when pushed against a wall, and they are those type honestly a must have in a camper this small.
Yup, 1172 for us too. For all the reasons you like yours now. If you ever want to do a solar upgrade, like a lot, let me know. I can tell you how to run cables. It will save you many hours or days! The couch...kinda not in love with it, but I am interested in what you guys come up with. The factory unit holds a TON of stuff under it. After that fact, as couch its ok, but the fold out "bed" & recliner functions are a joke. If it were me, I'd say its hard to beat the factory couch. The pita with the couch options that are out there, are the depth is ridiculously tight....so, good luck with your search. Another point, we never used the stove so we ordered ours with the micro/convection in it's place. BEST decision we made! The additional space for food above the stove is HUGE. I know your bride says she uses the stove, so changing that might get you into hot water. :). I would suggest you come up with a plan to keep those drawers (under dinette) from inadvertently opening when underway. It is a known issue. I essentially added a pin so they cannot open unless it is removed. Last suggestion, try, I mean REALLY try, to have the camper level before you open the rear slide. That can really cause some catastrophic issues if you don't. The drivers slide is built like a tank. Never have to worry about that one. PM me if you want any help on wiring or what-not. Take care you three!
Hey Tom, Thanks for the tips! We looked around at some aftermarket couches for the 1172 but didn't see any we really liked. I know we could have gotten something to work in that space but I'm the kind of guy that it would bug me looking at it and knowing it's not quite right. The aftermarket couches weren't cheap but we ended up spending a good bit more to have a factory couch built for us with the matching material. It'll probably take a few weeks the manufacturer said. I know it's not a great couch but at least we can store stuff under it unlike some of the other couches out there. If we decide to do any solar upgrades I may message you in the future. Safe travels and thanks for watching!

Lance makes a good camper but I opted to go with an Arctic Fox 1140 years ago. The local lance dealer was too tough to deal with .We still miss that camper, but needed something larger so its now a 5th wheel.
Todd, I just discovered Sherptek truck beds for chassis cab trucks that don’t come with a factory bed. Basically, it’s a custom-made bed with tons of storage cabinets built into it. And it covers all the areas that would otherwise be open, like between the camper and the flat bed and over the wheels. The material is some sort of space-age stuff. You might want to check it out seeing as it would provide a much more secure storage area than your removable wooden stake panels. I have no idea how it compares price wise with CM and others.
💋..... reminds me of the amenities on a sailboat. Everything you need is there. Very comfortable. I can't imagine that there is anything you are lacking aside from enough storage space (could there ever be enough?). Thank you for sharing.
felicidades por el excelente equipo que tienes en el camper y que clase de de alimentos puede hacer en el horno de la cocina en una montaña nevada y lejos de una ciudad?.
Nice set up. We have a 18 1172 with a 18 ram 3500 and really like ours. We bout this set up so we could tow a boat behind it. After recently seeing a video of a 2020ram with the eagle cap camper that the frame snapped in half behind the cab I am a little worried about towing the boat now.
Here is a cool I idea . If you have Netflix account and cellphone reception, you can watch Netflix on your TV! ALL you need is a cable that costs 10 bucks ! I have note 20 Samsung and I bought a cable C to USB or hdmi what ever connector you have on TV. You can broadcast from phone to TV with great quality. Love your camper, it would be perfect if it had glass shower door in my opinion. Everything else looks 👍 👌.
Just a suggestion but instead of staying in one place and talking for a long time it would be nice to see all the inside in a video of the whole inside.
Great camper guys! now with your Ram 4500 you can also haul a Host or Eagle Cap, not that you would need to switch because Lance makes a wonderful camper but it's nice to have those options available to you now.
We had a 2012 Lance 1181, I really loved it as we full-timed in it for 3 1/2 years & owned it for 6 years. Our 2017 Lance 1985 TT has its own pros and cons. Our sewer tube holder on our 1985 is pass-through at the front. We have a hose on the passenger side and the driver's side has both wires for our added 25-amp Victron battery charger and input cables for a 400-watt ground mount solar array we carry with us. We camp host in the mountain of CO for the USFS. Now that we are managing the district, we'd like to get a park model for our summer home base, but travel between winter and summer in a truck camp again. This would also be highly useful when one of our host couples has to leave early due to whatever reason, we could bring the truck camper there for a few days or the rest of the summer as needed to keep the presence there so folks continue to pay. There is a vicious false rumor that No Host, No have to pay for the campsite, lol. What size truck camper? I like them all, but when both of us are there the 1172 is so nice. There is more function in the 1172 than in the 24' Class C RVs, especially with the 1172 having enclosed & heated tanks. Love your truck setup, bit upgrade from the old Northern Lite days, LOL. Sheila used to roll her jeans up and store them in the overhead area above the bed as all storage counts, LOL.
Hi Knapp's Nest, We found the 1172 to be very comfortable to be in for three weeks. Sounds like you're thinking about getting another truck camper. I would recommend getting the largest one your truck can safely handle. To be in it for a long period of time like it sounds like you would be the larger the better in my opinion. Good luck and safe travels. Thanks for watching!
@@RunawayRoses Sounds great, glad you found this truck in stock and didn't have to wait too long. I had a CM 11' steel bed on a previous Chevy 3500, that would have been cool under front bed storage area if the center of gravity would have worked out, but surely needed more of a 5500 truck instead! Thanks again and will keep an eye out for that used creampuff 1172. ;-)
Todd/Carla. just paused the vid to ask what is coming out of the fridge compartment outside? looks to be dc power cord. . Yall are getting the wife and pumped up as we travel tomorrow to look at our first lance truck camper. we are 5er currently ...take care and safe travels. see you on the next. now back the vid.. psst love this rig. i would love to go larger but the market for trucks is terrible..
Hi David Jones, The cord coming out of the fridge area is for a fan that I have in there blowing up. I am planning on mounting some 12 volt fans in there soon. It really helped the refrigerator stay cold getting that heat out from the back of the unit. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
Nice camper, but you should have gone all out and gotten yourselves a Host Mammoth, LOL! We have an Oliver trailer, but we considered Northern Lite for a long time. I'd have both if we had the room. Thanks for the video and tour!
Nice setup. I guess if you already have a Pickup that can handle this Camper RV, its a good buy. BUy if you need to buy the truck and camper cap, would it not be cheaper to buy a Smaller Motorhome? Only issue with non li-ion batteriest is you only have half the rating to use,,,,. so 100amp you can only drain them to 50 amp, otherwise damages batteries.
We looked at Lance before buying our Arctic Fox, and they were our second favorite. We liked a few things about the AF better (head height and cabinetry being the main ones) but they are a lot heavier and they don't make a dual slide model. I love the space the dual slides give and Lance overall makes a nice unit. Congrats on the new rig.
Ii have a travel trailer 28ft it doesn't have backup or so called docking lights but I do have a backup camera and I can see just fine at night when backing into a site without waking up the people around you and if I can't my wife will get out with a flashlight. Everyone just thinks of themselves now. If you backed in next to me at 3 or 4 in the morning the next night I would be sure to return the favor with bright led lights shining in your bedroom windows.
I brought an 1172 in 2016 it stickered for 59 thousand and i paid 49 thousand and i looked at a 2022 and the stickers was 75 thousand with less options. i like mine but i do have problems with the side slide leaking water that the dealer was not able to fix so i have to park it with a lean to the left just a little to keep the water from coming in on a heavy rain.
Very nice video! We also have an 1172 and love it. I especially like your cushion covers and the baskets you put in your medicine cabinet. I’m curious about the RecPro recliners that were in your camper. We still have the original rear sofa and are considering replacing it with recliners. Were the recliners in yours able to fully recline back?
Congratulations! I have 1172 also and love it. Are you going add camperstabilizing system? I am installing them today. I got a nice deal whenI purchased my 1172. Got 2009 truck with 73k and camper 2016, like new, with solar and satellite system together for 58k! Had a 2500 truck and palomino sold it for 25k. Little out of pocket. I would love to have a truck like yours.
Thought I was subscribed to you folks. But I wasn’t. Now I am. Great video tour. Now that we have our new 1172 I was considering something for under the mattress. Do you highly recommend that froli under mattress product? How much higher does it make the mattress as the cabinet door doesn’t have much swing out clearance? You folks have lots of experience in truck campers I have very little. Thanks👍🇨🇦
It does make the mattress very close to the cabinet door in ours, but we can still open it. If we add a foam topper on top of the mattress, it would make it much more difficult. But the ventilation under the mattress is very important we feel. Thanks for watching.
How would you rate the build quality between the Lance, the Big Foot and the Northern Lite? I have seen a few videos on the smaller Lance's and some of the fit and finish (attention to detail) seems to be lacking compared to other brands, specifically in areas like under sinks and such. The Lance you have is a beautiful TC though!!
Like watching your channel lots of information on truck campers.I just ordered a 2023 Northern lite 10-2 dry bath .When you take your camper off at a campground is there anything you do so no one can steal it?
Hi Keith S, Congrats on ordering a Northern Lite. They are great campers! There is nothing special that we do to keep someone from stealing it. I've seen stuff connected between the front legs to keep someone from backing under it but we've never done that. If you leave the campsite you could take the remote for the jacks with you that way no one could raise the camper up to even get it on a truck. It could be done manually but they would have to have the crank handle. Someone would have to really know what their doing to try to take it but of course anything's possible. Thanks for watching!
I imagine the obvious being, you cannot get inside until you slide the back out?? What if that slide were to fail, is there any way to get inside?? For such a BIG camper, the kitchen lacks counter space and storage. I'm looking at one of these currently for sale, but your video sealed my thoughts against it. I don't understand non-camp side dinettes in almost every RV. Why does everyone want to view their neighbors rather than your own camp??
Where did you get your covers for the dinette cushions? My cushions are worn and I have a Lance. They don't have replacements anymore for dinette cushions. I'd really appreciate a tip on the covers! Thanks! Great video! I have a Lance travel trailer model 1995 2019 23 ft.
Hi @Susan Harney, Here's the link on Amazon to the covers, amzn.to/3ehuYU5 . The fabric is very soft and kind of fuzzy, they fit the seats perfectly and we were able to take them off to wash them because I got coffee on them during the trip. They cleaned up and also laundered nicely. Seem to be made well. Thanks for watching and commenting! Oh and they also have other colors if you want to add a touch of color to your camper. ~Carla
At 19 mins you mention the digital sea level for displaying your tank amounts. Curious what you’ve used previously- any chance you have a link? Thanks!
The Lance looks really good. How many slides do you need to put out in order to use the bathroom or get to the refrigerator when traveling? How long does it take to put each out? Have you dry camped in it yet? We recently bought a new-to-us Ram 5500 Laramie 4x4 6.7 CTD dually with a skirted flatbed so we wouldn't have to worry about weights. Like you, we want to do extended trips and be comfortable. We're concerned about slides, but haven't totally ruled them out yet. Looked at the Big Foot, concerned about the RV queen; and with the Northern Lite, it seemed kinda dark with limited windows. Plus we prefer a mid bath so we can have the rear window views. Ya'll are a good source of information, thanks for your videos!
We have a 2021 Lance 1172. Both slides have to be out to access the camper. We run ours out in less than two minutes. Not a big deal at all. Do it all the time on the road.
Got virtually no Jazz checking on newest "videos" & newest gal off" main stream romantic works, they seem fine/clean that I could ascertain. But limped into my " personal stall just fine w/wife's ever ready reliable works.
Hi love your videos. I have a 2000 f350 dually with the 7.3 in it and was wondering if it was enough truck for the Lance 1172? I see you have it on a 4500 truck
You would have to look at your trucks gvwr and payload to figure out if it will hold the approximate 5,000 lbs of loaded weight of a Lance 1172. Thanks for watching!
Nice setup! We have the same model on a Silverado. Seriously considering the flatbed option. I noticed a cable or extension cord coming out of the refrigerator lower vent. What is that for? Subscribed!
Well, that's light-years ahead of my Bigfoot in terms of features. Wow. Rooooomy! Lots of new features.. Happy for you both How! How far west did ya make it?
Hi Bob, We went the grand Tetons and Yellowstone them down To Colorado and New Mexico. The Lance is roomy that’s for sure. Very comfortable. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the nice compliment. I typically get between 10.5 to 11.5 on the highway loaded. Sometimes I would get mid 12's. Unloaded I get around 14 to 15 mpgs. Thanks for watching!
What truck camper tyres did you go with? Am not sure why you put the spare tyre in back of cab rather than underneath ? Reason is your moving centre of gravity back another 12” which is behind rear wheel axles which makes a bigger difference in handeling.
The tires are the stock 14 ply tires. Cab chassis trucks like this one don’t have space under them for a spare tire like a pick up does. The CC trucks have larger rear mounted fuel tanks. Thanks for watching!
Lance builds a great camper. Hard believe fits in truck bed😉
Congratulations on your new acquisition. It is a beautiful camper. Thank you for sharing. Have fun and stay safe.

Thanks again and will keep an eye out for that used creampuff 1172. ;-)
Bravo.........camper life..........looks top heavy........it's hard to have space and lightness.......cheers
When is the leg shaving video coming out? Kidding...🤣
Todd/Carla. just paused the vid to ask what is coming out of the fridge compartment outside? looks to be dc power cord.
If the rails were hinged it would make a nice table
Thanks for sharing
Hi Todd, I'm very interested in seeing more on the stabilizers you are using, set-up, etc. Thanks 👍
Great video!
love this rig! definitely something im looking into! Hope you guys have been enjoying your time with it. Also, is that an Angels and Airwaves shirt??
Nice camper, but you should have gone all out and gotten yourselves a Host Mammoth, LOL! We have an Oliver trailer, but we considered Northern Lite for a long time. I'd have both if we had the room. Thanks for the video and tour!
LOL at 27:11 tsk tsk! I know what you were gonna say! By the way I agree. 🤣🤣 Thanks! 😁👍
Very nice and roomy for you guys 🥰🥰🥰
Now you have the rig.
That's a great set up.
Get some pool noodles for those slide outs-you almost hit your head! Put the noodles on first thing when I open my slides-ask me why?!
Love to know what type of bedding your using and where you bought the dinette seat covers.
Those steps are great. Can you put the name in there? Great camper
Nice!
Very nice!
@@RunawayRoses Thanks for the quick reply, and keep the video coming.
~Carla
Thank you!😊
At 19 mins you mention the digital sea level for displaying your tank amounts.
Wow
Great tour! Can you get to the bathroom/refrigerator with the slide in?
Thanks
Thanks, The slides have to be at least half open to get around in the camper. Thanks for watching!
New sub ! Liked 😃😉🙌😊🙏😆
👍👍👍👍👍
Nice setup! We have the same model on a Silverado. Seriously considering the flatbed option. I noticed a cable or extension cord coming out of the refrigerator lower vent. What is that for? Subscribed!
I moved the condensation drain line to stick out so it would drain outside. Thanks for watching!
@@RunawayRoses It doesn’t look like a drain line. It looks like an extension cord. Take a look at time mark 12:49
What was the cost of your camper please 🇬🇧
Well, that's light-years ahead of my Bigfoot in terms of features. Wow. Rooooomy! Lots of new features.. Happy for you both How! How far west did ya make it?
Hi Bob, We went the grand Tetons and Yellowstone them down To Colorado and New Mexico. The Lance is roomy that’s for sure. Very comfortable. Thanks for watching!
What kind of tie downs did you use and where did you get them?
Great job on the comprehensive video and review! Can you share the average MPG you get with the rig? Thank you!!
Thanks for the nice compliment. I typically get between 10.5 to 11.5 on the highway loaded. Sometimes I would get mid 12's. Unloaded I get around 14 to 15 mpgs. Thanks for watching!
I still cant figure out why a black water tank would need to be the same size as grey?
What truck camper tyres did you go with? Am not sure why you put the spare tyre in back of cab rather than underneath ? Reason is your moving centre of gravity back another 12” which is behind rear wheel axles which makes a bigger difference in handeling.
The tires are the stock 14 ply tires. Cab chassis trucks like this one don’t have space under them for a spare tire like a pick up does. The CC trucks have larger rear mounted fuel tanks. Thanks for watching!
