7:30 You needed ic card because you have arrived to tokyo station via the ic card or a paid ticket stub (small ticket). Hence you guys never really exited Tokyo station. Going inside the Shinkensen platform is exiting tokyo station so you guys needed to tap out with the ic card while inserting the shinkensan tickets to enter the shinkensan platform.
