  • Today we ride Japan's Shinkansen (Bullet train )from Tokyo to Kyoto. This iconic bullet train is a marvel of modern engineering and a symbol of Japan's technological prowess! First launched in 1964 to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics, the Shinkansen is more than just a train-it's a testament to Japan's remarkable post-war economic revival.
    In this video, we'll explore:
The history of the Shinkansen and its role in shaping Japan's economy and global image.
The impressive features of these bullet trains, including their blistering speeds of up to 320 km/h (198 mph), their famed punctuality, safety records, and the seamless blend of comfort and efficiency they offer.
A peek inside the Shinkansen, highlighting its comfortable seating, scenic views, and the exceptional hospitality that reflects Japan's culture.
🤔 But why doesn't the U.S. have a similar widespread network of high-speed trains? We'll delve into the major challenges, including the vast differences in geography and urban planning between the U.S. and Japan, America's entrenched car culture, and the already established air travel network, which all contribute to the complexity and reduced demand for high-speed rail in the U.S.
Join us on this high-speed journey as we uncover the story of the Shinkansen and what it tells us about transportation, culture, and innovation.

Phoenix is getting there: they already finished 10 miles from Sky Harbor to Mesa… the speed leaves some room for improvement though- 1 hour for the 10 miles

7:30 You needed ic card because you have arrived to tokyo station via the ic card or a paid ticket stub (small ticket). Hence you guys never really exited Tokyo station. Going inside the Shinkensen platform is exiting tokyo station so you guys needed to tap out with the ic card while inserting the shinkensan tickets to enter the shinkensan platform.
