- Re-Masting of Aquarius Part 2. Ken finishes the works at Power Boats in Trinidad. We were able to complete the Re-Masting in less than two months from the day we hauled out at Power Boats, to the day we set sail to the VIBE Boat Show in St Thomas. In this time we hauled out, bought FriendshipII, took the masts, sold FriendshipII, and re-masted Aquarius. We had to replace almost everything on the masts from FriendshipII; Lines, lights, anemometers, lightning protection, antennas and wires... All replaced!. To add to the replacement of the masts, all the engine, fiberglass, and metal work, and much of the electronics replaced due to obsolescence. This was a mission that could have gone either way. But, somehow Ken assembled a great team that put Aquarius back together for the party at the VIBE BOAT SHOW in St Thomas. Many people at Power Boats were amazed that Aquarius set sail, on time!
Thanks to all the workers at Power Boats!
And thanks so much for watching 🙏

I am hopeful you have more and clearer pictures of the break and the shrouds and stays. On your episode of explaining what you suspect happened
What lovely people working with you, coming on nicely.
Well done Ken. I know how never ending this must have felt. The question is, can anything be done to ensure this never happens again.
OMG!! What a nightmare! Glad you guys are OK. That would be a gut wrenching experience. Aquarius lives on! Be well guys. Thanks for the great videos!
Thanks for the nice comment. We are just starting to recover from the event. But, things are definitely looking up!
Capt Ken and Admiral great video good to see you back and things getting done on Aquarius. Seems as though everything is coming into place. It'll be great having the weekly videos back. I have not forgotten about you. looking forward to next video.
Sounds like you have done a great job orgainizing a good crew to do the repair work. In the US it is hard to find good workers. Look forward to more sailing.
Hard to find good workers everywhere. But, Power Boats has good people, just have to find them at the right time.
You teach em Ken! Nice progress!
That woman that won the round the world race on the Cape George 36 uses a preventer on the mainsail. She uses twin foresails and two spinniker poles to hold the foresails when she is runnng downwind. Securing the sails might help prevent mast failure. Good video - thanks.
😊 you did a great job all the best from germany
Great too see what's going on. Looking forward to the regular vids.
Thanks for sharing. Even now it must still be painful
GOD Bless Been Worried about you two!!! Happy your OK SAD it happened STAY SAFE
Good afternoon..Sir
Good job.
Good luck...
📌But luck only smiles on prepared minds.
I see that from the first moment you knew that the masts and rigging were going to fall, YOUR MIND BEGAN TO PREPARE.
The previous sentence is valid. 👍
Thank you for your input
Good to see you guys back!
Thanks!
Great video.thanks for sharing this with us
Good job 👏
so good to see your progress! Am still .... dead curious to learn what, in the end of the day, caused this and how it exactly happened in detail..... - but take your time. Wish you simply alll the luck further on!✌
❤❤
You some bad mutha $&@$(? 🎉
Keeping it together for over 1200 miles of open ocean. Amazing courage
It was tough, but we never thought of giving up on Aquarius!
I was difficult to see your mast damage in the video as someone was obstructing the camera. It would be nice to know exactly where on the mast the break'occurrd. Was it where the poles are mounted or lower?
We still waiting for the final resolution with insurance and then we will share our findings
👏👏👏👏👌👌👌
After an ordeal like that I'd bet one could use a couple or three weeks in the Bahama's. Luckily, you own a yacht 😁
A few years would be good! Bahamas next year, or bust....
🖐😎⚓🌈
Did you have any insurance to help you out with this?
Yes.
Are you able to claim insurance on this ?
Sorry if this has been asked
He claimed it. Not sure if it’s settled yet though.
Not that Ken is competitive at all..
😂
