I raised my four children with the help of the crockpot and slow cookers. They are now 49 to 56.I got on the crockpot bandwagon in the beginning.I worked full time so we went through quite a few different ones.Still use them for my grandkids and great grandkids.I would not have been able to feed my family a variety and good meals any other way.

My mom used to use her Nesco roaster oven and other heat producing appliances in a shady area on the back deck of the house. She would put a timer on to remind her to check on it every so often. Was great to have roast turkey on July 4th without heating up the house.

I will not turn my oven on for any reason in the summer months. We live in New England where central air is not common in houses. That doesn't mean, though, that it doesn't get hot in the summer months. So to help with keeping the house as cool as possible, I don't use the oven. All our meals are cooked using the stove top, air fryer, grill and....the slow cooker! Loved this video! ❤️

Such a good tip to make standard dishes in the crockpot, but serve them in a more summer-heat friendly way. Truly, nothing makes a kitchen hotter than a boiling pot of water while cooking pasta, ugh. I've never tried making pasta in the crockpot, but you've inspired me to give that a whirl, thanks!

My mother in law makes a more taco seasoned chili that she will add corn to, and eat it over rice in the summer. We call it “summer chili” Also, we like to make a garden stuffed pepper casserole in the summer as well. You can throw in zucchini, chopped tomatoes, mushrooms or simply leave it out and just use beef. It’s a staple here.

Great recipe ideas. I agree with other commenters--Duke's or Blue Plate mayo is the way to go. Alabama white BBQ sauce comes from Big Bob Gibson's BBQ restaurant in Alabama (imagine that :)). Bob Gibson created the recipe years ago and won numerous national BBQ championships with it. It is a great sauce even if you do not like mayo, however I do advise not substituting something else for the mayo. The sauce just would not be the same.

I"m so getting the 4qt version for summer cooking! This will be a LIFESAVER in our two bedroom apartment!
I love my standard slow cooker but one with a browning/saute feature will really come in handy, as well as Less Clean up!

Sorry, I'm late to the party, but you have given me some GREAT ideas. Friends, you don't have to be "exact" but get creative with your crock pot. You WON'T be disappointed! NOTE: If you are NOT a fan of mayonnaise, try "veganaise." I am NOT a vegan but this changed my life. You can cook with it just like regular mayo, etc.
