In case you didn't know, you can also wrap your potatoes in foil and fill your crockpot and cook on low. Works great and you don't have to leave your oven on.
We all go through seasons (especially with kids!) where getting dinner ready fast is important. It doesn't always have to be totally healthy, as long as it's filling and quick and keeps you out of the fast food line! Thanks for these great ideas! I would love to see more videos like this!
I'm going to try that salad wrap with the chopped chicken. Awesome, and I can do so many varieties w different meats too. Thanks. These meals are great for us when we go to the lake. Instead of stopping at the fast food I can say "Nope, I've got food ready at home !"
Canned chicken & other foods from my local food pantry (what a blessing) make quick, nutritious & inexpensive meals. Tonight's burrito bowls were yummy & all I had to buy was a tomato, green onions & cheese. Rice, corn & black beans were all food pantry items. Thank you, Lord.
Any time my family of 4 goes to fast food it is at least $45. We have 2 adults, 1 teen, and 1 senior. Almost anything you buy that is quick and easy at the grocery store is cheaper. Even sushi. It's crazy.
It's 2 of us now & drive thru is at least $25 so even ham, cheese, bread, chips & cookies from Kroger makes us a fast 4 week nights dinner for nights after sports with grandkids at $25
I keep prechopped frozen onions from walmart in my freezer all the time. Cheap and quik! Also, if I have fresh onions that need used - I chop and freeze.
I used to buy them in the bag in the freezer section at my grocery store but it's rarely in stock anymore - hit or miss. But so convenient to have them already chopped and ready for use.
You can also freeze bags of shredded cabbage if you're planning on cooking them (obviously doesn't work if you're wanting to use it for coleslaw etc, but great for soups or cooked with noodles or kielbasa etc).
These meal ideas are great for when you are traveling. I always took our food when we vacationed while I was raising my children. We were able to travel much more that way 😊
I am not going through the busy season of life like you are, but I am sometimes really tired after a long day at work. I have things in my house that are quick and easy so that I can have dinner on the table in no time. There is no reason why anyone should have to justify why they would feed the kids less healthy sometimes, sometimes fed is fed and that is what you get, I think when we eat healthy a good majority of the time we are covered for the times that we don't eat so great.
Thank you for this video! I needed this. I do In home daycare and 3 of my kids started sports this month. Well, trying to feed kids early, feed daycare babies and get them down for nap or out the door for pick up- it gets nuts! 🤯I told my husband, next week it’s crockpot meals or premade meals we can just grab!
I immediately thought of sloppy Joe's as well when she showed the Texas toast. I've even started making it with ground chicken and turkey since it's more affordable than ground beef. I don't even notice the difference.
I love the idea of mixing chicken with dip for something fast! I took this idea and used it to make a version of Mexican street corn for a side dish. I took a package of artichoke & jalapeño dip and mixed it with a bag of frozen corn. Popped it in the oven and it was delicious! Thanks for the inspiration!
Totally doing the rotisserie chicken and dip next week! I’ve been trying to think of an easier way to make chicken salad and that answers that!!! Thank you for these great videos. 💜 also that church orchestra looks amazing.
Tonight, I made the easiest fajitas ever. I bought the already sliced frozen peppers and onions and threw them in a skillet with some cut up chicken breast and a seasoning packet. Put it on a tortilla with some shredded cheese and sour cream and called it good! 🤣
I just did this today! Even got the grilled chicken from the prepared foods and added them to the pot after the peppers and seasoning pack were almost done cooking to warm them up. My son said it was the best dinner ever 😅
Last time I went through a drive thru, I had 2 teens with me. We just each had a small burger to tide us over until dinner. They were over $3 each and TINY. Pasta salads, sandwiches, and crockpot meals keep us going, also!
These are great ideas, Mindy! Not only for busy weeknights but when we go on vacation and stay at a house or even the camper. We like to eat in twice a day and out once. These are perfect ideas!
I love that theese are ACTUALLY 10 minute meals! A lot of recipe blogs advertise 15 minute dinners, but thats only the cook time and doesnt include any of the prep.
Fantastic ideas, Mindy! While I enjoy cooking, these are perfect for those nights when I’m just not feeling it. 😊 On the rare occasions we get fast food, it’s hard for me to enjoy it since while I’m eating, I’m calculating how much food I could make for the amount we spent.
Love all these ideas!! My favorite is the chicken wraps - that would come in for quite a bit less if you already have breaded chicken strips in the freezer, and throw them in the air fryer. But still, buying a wrap at the deli in a grocery store for every family member would easily be $30+
Nicely done! There are times when those convenience foods at the store really come in handy. They are a bit pricey of course, but compared to going out to eat or drive throughs, they certainly work. I overslept this morning and didn't take the time to pack my lunch. Fortunately, hubby did and he offered to share his wrap with me. I found some chips and a granola bar in my car and together we pulled together a meal -- a little skimpy, but enough. We could have eaten out or picked something up, but we ate out the day before and will be eating out again this weekend. Two or three meals out is the limit. THanks for these ideas as I realize that even though I'd slept in, I could have pulled something .... anything together quickly if I had tried.
All my kids have b-days in April and they all had a special dinner out - Three dinners cost as much as I normally spend on the entire food and household monthly budget. A crazy and expensive April, and looking forward to the spending to stop in May. I'm ready for some fast and easy-on-the-budget recipes.
My sister and I have bdays the same month and we often had joint birthday celebrations growing up - we preferred it that way! you could try that? It’s SO expensive to eat out now, even at “cheaper” places!
@@Charlotte-bc7vj My sister and I share a month, too. We've all often shared b-day celebrations throughout the years. Not sharing this year was a conscious decision, I wasn't really complaining. Just time to reset now. April is also their wedding anniversary (I have two sons and one DIL, all with April b-days.)
@@yvonnepalmquist8676 isn't it funny how family birthdays are always so close together!? it didn't come across as complaining at all! just reminiscing about our joint bday parties haha, simpler times... now we live in different countries so can't recreate that as adults sadly 🥰
Good afternoon Mindy. What a haul. I do believe I'll try that recipe for spicy chicken tonight. Thanks so much for sharing another of your great recipes. 👍
We have 3 birthdays and our anniversary within a month. As a family of 7, we NEVER go out to eat unless it is 2 $5 pizzas at Little Ceasars for a summer picnic once in a blue moon. To say this is a special treat is a huge understatement! Our kiddos start planning their restaurant choices for the next year a week after their birthday! These are wonderful memories my kids will look back on, BUT we have to budget throughout the year to afford so many birthday meals in such a short time! These were wonderful ideas that were shared! The wrap idea and chicken salad idea especially! Smiles, Abby Smith
Sitting here watching this video while I eat a Chick-fil-A sandwich 😅 Thanks for the great ideas 😊 I appreciate your creativity! Sometimes I think that I should have thought of the same thing, but most of the time I’m stuck on the same 5 meal ideas and can’t seem to think outside the box lol
Love love love these ideas for quick dinners and I think I might be able to get my autistic child to eat one or 2 and I usually always have things on hand to make homemade sauces for like the wraps and whatnot so it won't be so hard on my snap card either I might go ahead and prep cook my own chicken tenders and just put them in the freezer and have them on hand that would be cheaper for me in the long run and handy in the long run to so thank you so much again for all of your great ideas😊
Thanks for the great ideas!! The Innovasian brand is so good! I love their frozen sticky white rice. It's as good as any restaurant and works great for all kinds of meals. Quick enchiladas - roll up corn tortillas with cheddar cheese and pour Hormel chili & extra cheese on top and bake for 25 mins until melted. So good! Even my husband likes them and he never likes enchiladas.
thanks for all your great ideas. Eating out is getting so expensive and the food quality has gone down in many places too. Thanks for sharing, love all your ideas. I have cut way down on eating out and am always looking for a quick meal.
I love using the rotisserie chicken to make all sorts of different meals. I'll sauté some up with peppers and onions for fajitas or make a chicken bacon ranch wrap like you did. And it's amazing in chicken Alfredo. 😋
So glad you posted a video! Thanks for it! I am behind on my youtubers😂 because I found out that my Hulu subscription includes Rizzoli & Isles, alll...the Law and Orders! ❤
Try a flour tortilla pizza, spray your pan with non stick, lay in a circle of pepperoni, add mozzarella on top of the pepperoni, add a few teaspoons of prepared marinara sauce, a lil more mozzarella (as a glue) then top with your flour tortilla, flip into a plate then return to the pan to brown the tortilla. You can sprinkle on a little Italian seasonings, add fresh spinach or thinly sliced tomato for a margarita style pizza as well. Absolutely delicious as a low carb option with sugar free pizza sauce and a low carb tortilla. It’s a great fix when you’re craving pizza! It’s so yummy and our grand kiddos love it so much!
All of those sound so good. Summer speedy dinners. We just discovered Fish Stick Tacos with Asian Mayo. Oh My. Super easy and delicious. Found a loaf of sliced french bread at Walmart and made mini grilled corned beef and swiss cheese sandwiches with tomato soup. 2 pkgs buddig corned beef or ham and one pkg sliced swiss cheese. Make like a grilled cheese.
We live pretty rural and in particular on Sundays we have to drive a bit to get to/from church. Both my husband and I are on the worship team, so we're often there all morning. Sometimes for lunch I'll pack some easy sides- go gurt, apples/fruit, carrot sticks. etc, and we'll just each get a cheeseburger and drink from Mcdonald's on the way home. It's a nice balance between healthy and eating out.
Love to make mini meatball subs with those texas toasts, cutting the meatballs in half not only helps them fit the bread better but also makes it stretch even further.
Perfect timing, I plan on creating some easy meals for my youngest bonus son and his family. Our daughter-in-law is expecting our newest granddaughter this August and having a few health hiccups.
Love your realistic videos. Fast food is crazy expensive, and there are just two of us. I made a chickpea salad that gives us five lunches for less than the cost of one trip to Culver's. Thank you for reminding us of easy alternatives.
Pro-Mom tip!! Buy a few rotisserie chickens from Costco. Slice up all the chicken and freeze in individual bags - 2 cups per bag. You have cooked chicken ready to add to anything for a quick meal and they're very inexpensive. You can toss a bag into the fridge to be thawed and ready... Or if I'm making pasta, I just dump my frozen chicken in with the noodles while they boil to heat it all up. It doesn't come out gross and rubbery.😊
Mine warmed up in a couple hours. I left the crockpot on too long and a couple at the bottom got a little dried out, so I should have just left them on warm. But the ones we ate on time were delicious!
Seeing your pre-cut chicken inspired me to make my own. I'll buy a flat of chicken breasts and reserve two for cubing up. I butterfly the rest so we basically get 2 thinner breast pieces out of each breast, which is just right for my DH and me. The reserved ones, I'll cube up and freeze. Much less $$ than the pre-cut and I only have to dirty my knife & cutting board once per shopping trip. Big time saver!
There are times when a quick, maybe not so healthy meal, is needed. It is so much better than going to take out or drive through. I only have 2 to cook for so it is so much easier, but when I have time, I cook extra. The other night I made tacos. I had time so I made a few extra quesadillas for the freezer. With only two of us, the can of refried beans and 1/2 lb of ground beef goes a long way! I will pull those quesadillas out some time that I don't have time to cook. Love your videos. Thank you!
Good ideas! I think Huy Fong has stopped making Sriracha products. I'm at a loss for the chili garlic and I'm looking for a substitute 😢 Another cheap quick one is Walmarts frozen cheestake beef, heat with sliced onions/peppers/mushrooms, top with cheese on toasted bread (and whatever else). The sliced cheesesteak beef is good and cheap enough that I keep it around for other dishes (faux gyros, french dip, beef broccoli).
I've been looking for some quick meal ideas for grocery pickup days. I'm tired by the time I put up groceries for 7 people 😂. I'm going to try lazy chicken salad and the wraps.
My son is on vacation in fla with his wife and 3 kids .they cook their own food mostly but try to go out once or twice as a treat .the got 3 kids meals ..2 corn dogs and 1 chicken strips with fries .1 hot dog .1 chicken sandwich and a patty melt..it was 106.00...unreal
I don't know if there are any fellow Australians watching but if there is Have you found any Ranch Dip in Australia and where ? OR If I made the ranch seasoning and then put it into sour cream would like to be similar to ranch dip? I love the sound of it mixed into chicken (We Australians love our cooked chickens as a very easy dinner)
Have you seen the new microwave-ready bacon? It's not the fully cooked kind that you showed, but raw bacon, packaged in strips of 4. You pop them in the microwave, packaging and all, and cook for like 3 minutes. It tastes a little less microwave-y in my opinion. I've bought Hormel, but there might be other brands on the market.
i love to take the cheezy texas toast and put sloppy joe meat on top and a little shredded cheddar and pop it int the air fryer at 370 for 6 min. so good and so easy!
Lol, Texas toast with cheese is already a grilled cheese to me. I may or may not have served those just as they are alongside tomato soup when my boys were growing up.
I've been doing really good with cooking at home and bringing leftovers to work for lunch, for about 1.5 years now. SOMETIMES (rarely) I either don't have leftovers, or Just really want takeout. Holy Moly- I went to Taco Bell yesterday for lunch. Three (3) crunchy taco supremes and drink combo meal came to $11.33!!! Yeah...just No. It Was good, but I was still hungry and out $11.33. Never seen these recipes thanks Mindy I been using your easy recipes it's baseball time❤
Glad I could help!
Thank you!
How long did you heat the burritos for? Such creative options! Thank you so much for the work you do!
Mine only took a couple hours on low to warm up
Good ideas! I think Huy Fong has stopped making Sriracha products. I'm at a loss for the chili garlic and I'm looking for a substitute 😢
Another cheap quick one is Walmarts frozen cheestake beef, heat with sliced onions/peppers/mushrooms, top with cheese on toasted bread (and whatever else).
I feel so inspired..thank you for these wonderful ideas.
An oven with delay function….. things I didn’t know I wanted until 20 seconds ago…..
I JUST tried the chicken bacon Ranch recipe and I couldn't believe how good it was! Thank you!

Great ideas! Hey…who doesn’t like/need to make or have a quick supper once in a while….no matter what stage we are are in our life?
I don't know if there are any fellow Australians watching but if there is Have you found any Ranch Dip in Australia and where ?
OR If I made the ranch seasoning and then put it into sour cream would like to be similar to ranch dip? I love the sound of it mixed into chicken (We Australians love our cooked chickens as a very easy dinner)
Oh wow! These are awesome ideas!!! I am absolutely going to try these! Looks delicious!
Okay but those chicken wraps look delicious!
They were! My daughter was sad when the leftovers were gone! 😊
I haven’t seen that yet!
fantastic ideas
Great ideas!!!
Ooo that chicken and fried rice dish would be great with some stir fried cashews thrown in with the chicken at the end I think! Yum!!
Great idea!
i love to take the cheezy texas toast and put sloppy joe meat on top and a little shredded cheddar and pop it int the air fryer at 370 for 6 min. so good and so easy!
Lol, Texas toast with cheese is already a grilled cheese to me. I may or may not have served those just as they are alongside tomato soup when my boys were growing up.
Thanks Mindy! All the recipes looked great!
Glad I do this so rarely.
You’ve probably told us multiple times, but where do you get your glasses! Love so many choices.
I can’t remember which ones I wore in this video, but I have a new pair from PAIR and they’re the sponsor for this week’s video. There will be an explanation and a discount!
I’ve also ordered from eyebuydirect about 6 months ago. :)
