  • Did you know that about two-thirds of Berlin households live without a car? There are several reasons for that.
🚗 Urban living comes with its daily challenges: traffic jams, parking shortages, and environmental worries. As more people ditch car ownership, the quest for alternative transportation grows.
Bigger companies and startups are addressing these challenges by offering a range of alternatives to owning a car. From electric micro-mobility solutions tailored to diverse needs and markets, to improved car-sharing concepts and autonomous vehicles, OTO Mobility is one of them.
OTO is one of the 8 teams in our startup Hardtech Innovation Accelerator Program.
Their product? A nimble, space-saving vehicle for two, perfect for errands and grocery runs. Despite its compact size, it provides ample protection from the weather, making it an ideal choice for urban dwellers seeking efficiency and convenience.
"We offer an electric vehicle that is well-designed, convenient, small, and safe," explains Magnus Michel and Leon Laskowski, the two senior industrial designers who set out to design and develop this convertible electric cabin scooter for daily urban mobility.
Leon and Magnus have encountered numerous learning opportunities throughout the program, including team changes, niche market challenges, and unexpected outcomes from user interviews. Despite these hurdles, their vision remains the same - they seek to provide sustainable and affordable transportation for urban dwellers. "Could design be a catalyst for social change?"
