    1. Mini Keg - (Paid Link) amzn.to/3gdo2UA
    2. Pliers (needle nose if possible)
    3. Tape
    4. Screw driver or thin poking device such as a pencil.
    First drink all of your beer or somehow empty the mini keg (They can also be purchased new online).
    - Using the pliers or brut strength pull the plastic piece out of the top of the bung, set piece aside.
    - Poke plastic piece through the bung into the mini keg.
    - Tape the pliers to protect the Rubber Bung.
    - Remove the rubber bung gently with the pliers.
    - Fill with water, turn upside-down, open the spout for airflow and swirl the keg, place hand under the flowing water to catch the plastic piece or use a screen in the drain. (New bungs can be purchased online.)
    - Rinse and thoroughly sanitize your mini keg.
    - Refill with your delicious home brew.
    - Add 12 grams of sugar in 2 TBS. of water.
    - Condition at least 2 weeks.
    - Refrigerate and enjoy!
    Notes - Adding more sugar, in some cases, has lead to kegs warping and potentially exploding.

    awesome, thank you. I have an Oktoberfest mini keg with the same exact bung and faucet parts ,I saved hoping for just this type of tutorial. I usually bottle a 5- 6 gallon batch but I will try mini kegging (roughly half of the next batch ,bottle the rest and see if i can notice a side by side difference .(and have a reason to drink 2 beers at once)

      The nice thing is you can save the mini keg and fill it with your own beer! 😄

    Oh you are my HERO. When googling to see if there was a way to open a mini keg, never dreamed I'd find a video showing how to open the 4xact one that inspired the search. My friends have had an old half full one of these sitting in their fridge for ages. I thought it'd make an adorable Christmas decoration, so they gave it to me. And here you are! One thing though, mine is newer packaging, instead of a spout it's a push button release spout. And the top rubber gasket is actually hard red plastic instead. Do you gave any advice? I don't want to wreck it by cracking the plastic or denting the top 😭

      Haha that’s awesome! They only sell these during the holidays and can be a little tricky to find. So I’m not sure what packaging you have. Some of them have Co2 cartridges that make it very challenging to take apart. Can you send me a few photos of the keg? I have my email address in the description of this video. I can take a look to see if I can help!

    Since you're conditioning in the keg, it seem like the first glass you pour would have all your trub. Would you pour all that out until the beer starts running clear?

    • @MyProjectWeekend
      @MyProjectWeekend  5 лет назад +2

      JanusKastin I personally haven’t had a problem with any sediment. The pour spout is high enough off the bottom of the keg that the beer comes out clear and delicious! If you watch the last minute of this video I pour the first glass after the beer had been conditioned for 2 weeks. Thanks!

    I've got a 12V Princess fridge that this fits into, so was thinking about using it for homebrew. Looks to me like it won't last long, though - those plastic parts will break fairly soon?

      They actually hold up pretty good. You can also buy replacement ones for pretty cheap.

    Does anyone know if i can fill with a premade beer? Or would it lose all carbonation?? I just like the containwr

    • @MyProjectWeekend
      @MyProjectWeekend  Год назад +1

      It would lose a lot of carbonation. Once you open it for the first time it's only good for 2 days or so. After that most of the carbonation is gone. I do have some other videos on force carbonating these mini kegs though. I hope that helps.

    • @MyProjectWeekend

      Hi Jose, I go over carbonating in the video. It’s around the 5:27 mark. Basically I added my homebrew beer and 12 grams of sugar dissolved in water.
