The only part of this evolution I think is missing is after the tiny xenomorph has left the human host, it sheds a layer of skin before it starts growing, as shown in the original ALIEN movie. Apart from that, this animation was great in showing all of the stages of the Xenomorph's birth.
@@IgoorboyI honestly prefer how they do it in Romulus. It’s still ridiculously fast but from a biological perspective it makes more sense for a properly cocoon than shedding once from a ferret sized worm to a 7ft tall monster
I’m so glad animators are finally getting the views and recognition they deserve on RUclips, animation isn’t easy so it’s great when your hard work pays off. Congrats on 2M views.
The main question to ask: Is the Facehugger an entity by itself, or is it just a non-conscious vessel controlled by the embryo of the Xenomorph to acquire DNA and help it fully develop into its next stage?
The first, Facehuggers are entities of their own. " _The infant Xenomorph begins its life as a highly mutagenic fluid, which is injected into the host organism's chest cavity by a Facehugger. This fluid brings about chemogenetic restructuring of the host's cells, essentially "building" the Chestburster from the host's own biological material at a cellular level_ "
According to the current Alien expanded universe lore, what the Facehugger implants into a host isn’t quite an egg, but rather a mutagenic fluid called plagiarus praepotens; it basically hijacks the host’s cells, rewrites their genetic code like the black goo, and reconstructs the host’s tissue into a Chestburster (this is also ties in to their DNA reflex ability to copy their host’s body plan and traits to be better adapted to the environment they’re in). At first I thought the canon explanation was kind of dumb because I thought shoving an egg or cancer down your throat was much scarier and threatening than a Prometheus tie-in, but I’ve put some thought into it and I realized plagiarus praepotens is akin to semen. The idea that Facehuggers are making hosts guzzle down essentially Xenomorph semen to become living eggs works just as well as the old ideas and ties in with Dan O’Bannon’s intention for the Xenomorphs to be symbolic of homosexual oral rape.
You should look into a old PS2 game, Aliens Vs Predator: Extinction. you learn alot about the aliens in that game. including how Queens are born and how hives are built. there is even a breed of Xeno that carries dozens of FaceHuggers on its body and leaves the hive, seeking out the hosts
Every time I hear about how amazingly perfect Xenomorphs are by any character in the series, I’m just left going, “but...they’re *terrrribly* inefficient!”
To be fair, such creatures do exist in the real world. There's a few species of wasp that lay their eggs inside a host of some sort, and then the larval forms eat the victim from the inside out over time before reaching maturity.
From a biology perspective, Xenomorphs are terrible in that they’re incapable of reproducing amongst themselves and that there’s no possible environment you could create where they’re not an invasive species, but from a thematic perspective, they’re just about perfect. It’s one thing to have an invasive species that breeds like crazy and consumes all the resources in the environment, it’s another for that invasive species not being able breed *without killing something first*. Regardless of their origin story, it’s clear that every Xenomorph’s goal is to adapt to the environment, kill or harvest everyone and everyone, and become the dominant organism, which makes them “perfect” on their own standards.
@@johnclark926 How it was worked out is that Xenomorphs *did* encounter a world in the extended universe (Xenomorph Prime) where they effectively became an endemic rather than simply invasive species; as not only were some of the local flora and fauna able to survive on the planet despite their total overrun of the ecosystem; but one species of apex predators native to planet actually was *thriving* as direct competition to them and was *actively hunting them as prey*.
Just for everyone watching, there's actually three forms missing here: When a Drone transforms into a Praetorian, and then when the Praetorian transforms into a Queen, and when a Drone can utilize 'egg morphing' to convert biomass into Facehugger eggs in order to jumpstart a hive.
@@Thanatos_mortis You're welcom. There was though once a lab grown male called the Rouge/King Xenomorph, just though you might also like to know about that
What always bugged me about their life cycle was how little energy/biomass the chestburster got out of infesting someone, then somehow got enough out of it to rapidly grow into a human-sized drone. It's fiction, but damn it was stupid. At least in the games, when you played a chestburster you had to eat several humans worth of meat before reaching adulthood.
It also happened within hours of them leaving the host. It's why I don't mind the black blood elements in Prometheus at all. Aliens were always basically magic. This is an eldritch/cosmic horror story.
I mean, they are aliens, so i always thought that as something that is other-worldly for us; outside of human comprehension. That's why the Xenomorph is one of my all time favorite fictitious aliens, because they don't follow earth biology.
In the RPGs, a chestburster also needs to consume inorganic matter like silica or metals to build up its exoskeleton. I believe it was a 2/3 organic (usually meat, but xenomorphs can basically consume any kind of carbon matter to get this, so they can eat plants, leaf litter and compost if they have to) and 1/3 inorganic material. As the movies went on they made the xenomorph's life cycle faster and faster (to the point where basically you could go from chestburster to Warrior within a day), but in the RPGs it generally takes at least a week for a chestburster to reach the Warrior stage, assuming it has enough food.
In the first Alien movie the android science guy commented on how it adapts well to the environment. I took this to mean that it basically absorbed the molecules in the atmosphere or through some kind of osmosis. Or it could just feed on whatever inorganic materials were laying around.
I love how the alien is taking the egg to the human, it's very professional (even if usually the alien is supposed to carry the human to the egg room, i was happy to see that)

can I be a slave that instead of being face hugged I protect the eggs, headcrabs, and the resulting chest bursters, and in return when they grow into drones they protect me?
In Alien, it presumably found where they stored the food, in Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien Covenant, Alien Isolation and Prometheus Fire and Stone they ate people or animals. I think that is all of the official canon
This is perfect I LOVE the animation and the use of both the warrior xenomorph (being the one to nuclear the eggs and guard the nest) and the drone xenomorph being the one to bring hosts to the hive for the eggs
I love the animation, sound would do u good also the roar at the end is just a bit exaggerated cause a xenomorph wouldn't want the sort of attention or smth otherwise I love it it was phenomenal also the facehugger had more of a look like it was from a nightmare or a dream and definitely more crab like so well done
Update video required: Alien romulus revealed that chest bursters molt and cocoon themselves into a metamorphosis, then emerge as a fully grown xenomorph.
The end was a soldier, just not fully developed yet, soldiers (Just like the first one at the start of the vid) pick the eggs up, on trapped human prey, in order to be impregnated by a facehugger. No Drones needed, just queens and soldiers
To be fair. The xenomorph can use any decently sized animal to incubate. The xenomorph also absorbs the dna and takes on the characteristics of it’s host “parent”. This ensures that the Xeno is perfectly adapted to whatever environment it was birthed in.

Andy Rios I think the Chest burst method makes sense given the Xenomorph’s purpose. It appears to have been designed to be a universally applicable “fire and forget” weapon of genocide. As such, it needs to be able to adapt to the local environment and be resistant to every local disease (you don’t want your hive wiped out by a cold virus, War of the Worlds style). The chest burster takes on the DNA of the host and likely its immune system as well. It makes sure that the hive is able to adapt to any situation. Want to take over a cold area? Burst some polar bears. Take over an ocean? Sharks. Disease ridden jungle? Python. Dense, dirty city? Humans. Toxic death planet? Local fauna. Etc etc. You’d get more Xeno’s from the method you mentioned, but they could potentially be very weak and easily disposed of depending on the environment.
