Hello Matthew! Thanks for you reply. As we have openly stated before we had an issue with fakes as they were mixed in a batch that included authentic Cohibas. Every affected customers was given a refund AND a replacement box. This video was produced to educate customers about how to spot cuban cigars since back then this hadn't been explained by any official distributor nor HABANOS SA, which also left us with basically no clue about this that we are explaining here. Since then we carry thorough checks on every single cigar box that arrives to our warehouse. We also stay in touch with official distributors and Habanos every time we spot an error on the website, a ring that's bad quality or any other appearance issues with their bands since it leads to speculation and problems for every body. We hope this video is of help, we will be posting updates regarding new ways of checking and changes that Habanos might apply to boxes, rings, codes etc. Please, anything you need let us know through hello@montefortunacigars.com
@@MontefortunaCigars Your reply to Matthew makes it sound like you had a one off situation, however that is not the reality. Your company has sold fake Cuban cigars on more than one instance aside of the Cohiba situation you mentioned in your reply. If you were sourcing your cigars directly and only from Habnaos S.A. you would have not ran into that situation but obviously your company is not a direct authorized dealer of Habanos and you source your products from many sources. Based on this you will continue to have fake cigars in your supply chain. I am glad you made the video to educate the general public but you are omitting a lot of information about the authenticity check process. Hopefully you will be more forthcoming in your future videos.

For us, it is quite frustrating because we founded Montefortuna with the goal of providing the best service and quality. We haven't worked so hard just to end up selling fakes. That would be pointless, especially when we have plenty of official sources for Cubans. We have thousands of loyal customers who know the authenticity of our product and buy from us every week. Again, the fakes came in a batch all mixed up, and the level of quality was incredibly accurate. They were long filler, and the bands were legit and had UV codes. Not even high-level Cuban cigar industry members could recognize the difference. Fakes are a big problem, and we decided to create this video to educate people. Before this issue, it was impossible to find information about the level of fake imitations. This mistake was and still is very painful for us. It also hurts that cigar aficionados are missing the opportunity to order authentic Cubans from official distributors at a great price from Montefortuna because of an isolated issue (that we amended) that represents less than 0.01% of our sales historically. We will continue to be transparent and explain what happened. If anybody decides to give us another chance, we will gladly collaborate, offer discounts, and prove our stock is 100% authentic. I bought a 3 pack of cohiba robusto tubos recently, and the bands did not have the code seen by a UV light. However, 2 of the white squares on the band turned blue with the UV light. Everything else on the bands, the cigars themselves, the box, the seal, etc, says these cigars are real. The only thing is the band not having the number.
Honestly the difference between Cubans and Cuban Alternatives is like the difference between champagne and sparkling wine these days... Cuba has some SERIOUS competition

I’ve seen LCDH stores in Mexico smuggle out sheets of Habanos green export Stamps. Never source from Mexico
The Habanos verification website does not work. Can you use your influence to find out how to get it back up and running ?
Unfortunately it only works with Microsoft Edge. Doesn't work for me with Chrome or Safari.
