Let's be honest, the whole episode was pretty ridiculous, it was just there as fan service. And love that we got it, it was so much fun but it's definitely not one that you want to think to hard about.
@@skyserf that was probably just a time constraints issue or they just wanted to have joke with Ronin waking Sheppard up, but yeah the easy work around would be have Ronin bang on the door and Sheppard opens it. That shouldn't be to hard they have plenty of llingering shots to choose from.
It would be funny if dr Lee and Dr Kavanagh would be talking about Wormhole Extreme and it’s spin-off maybe something like Wormhole Andromeda (Atlantis parody) 😂
That was the one where the Atlantis Expedition found a planet with enough atmospheric energy to dial Earth. The atmosphere was actually a bunch of energy-based life forms that game the Expedition the illusion of making it back.
I think that was the S1 episode where a bunch of energy creatures messed with their heads with a bunch of illusions and Sheppard realized they were fake when a couple guys he saw die years before or something walked up to him.
They should have salvaged the Tria, bought it back and to midway and used it as a control point for midway. If the Wraith tried it again, they could vent the gate room from well beyond any range of the Wraith's stunner grenade things.
The solution to the fiasco of Midway is simple, though not cheap. Swap the two chains of gates, keep a small station in the middle, and build a somewhat larger station on each end. you go from Atlantis to a station, transition to a series of milkyway gates to another station, switch to pegasus gates to a third station, and then jump to Earth. Or even simpler, you just add enough gates so that you go from Atlantis directly into the chain. From what I remember, they go from Atlantis through a couple of planets, THEN to the Pegasus chain. The Wraith figured out what was going on and got the necessary code from one of the planetary relay gates, which let them into the system. Replace the planetary relay gates with gates out in deep space that the Wraith can't find to hack and you have a secure network again.
They don't need another Midway. Midway was planned at the beginning of Season 3 - they only had a ZPM at Atlantis and, due to unforseeable circumstances, depleted that one - with no other sources for new ZPM's in sight, they had to think of a different long-term solution. At the end of the show, they got ZPM's on both ends and can dial between Atlantis and Earth directly.
Crap into the rear compartment, get to the front, seal the cockpit and then open the aft hatch into space. And hope the next Ancient warship speeding through the void between galaxies has working windscreen wipers.
cant, the way this system worked was you went from say Atlantis to a gate at the farthest edge of pegasus which then was tweaked to automatically forward you onto midway whereupon your checked out/quarantined before being sent to sgc via another gate in the milky way programmed to auto forward you to sgc. the wraith found the last gate and slipped into the system to not need the forwarding system to get to midway then just went on to earth.
While it's never said, I feel like it would be dumb not to build another one. Remember it's not just the Midway, there's two whole chains of gates they had to collect and deposit in between the galaxies, and that's still there. Would feel like a waste to just abandon the project.
I always assumed the project was probably put on hold until the wraith problem was more under control. Sure you can better secure Midway itself, but stopping the wraith from constantly messing with the Pegasus side gates 24/7 would just be a waste of resources until a permanent solution is found.
They made a point of that flaw in the introduction for this episode by editing a recap of McKay explaining the intergalactic bridge works and added that there is "no need for a shield or an iris". However with Atlantis on Earth, I doubt a 2nd Midway would be built, even if construction was started.
