What I'd love to see is Goa'uld and Wraith fight 😂 Goa'uld: I'm a God! Kneel before your god! 🤴 Wraith: Wow, food with extra spice in it! *eats Goa'uld* 😋 Other Goa'uld: 👀
This was honestly such a great way at showing how the Atlantis expedition could last for so long against the Wraith. Yes the Atlantis expedition had some technological advances over the Wraith (the Asgard tech and Ancient tech they managed to reverse engineer), but far and away the biggest advantage they had over the Wraith on a big picture scale was that the Wraith mistrusted each other almost as much as they mistrusted Atlantis. And with the Wraith awakened well before their "feeding grounds" had had a chance to fully replenish, and the Wraith spent more time fighting each other over territory than they actually spent fighting humans. To me "Humanity is surviving on a knife's edge by delicately playing the enemy against each other" is a much more believable scenario than "Humanity wins because it's inherently awesome!" that a lot of lesser sci-fi series go for. Mind you, Shephard is pretty awesome for thinking on the fly how to pit Wraith against each other, but the fact that the Wraith instantly started attacking each other without clearing up what was going on was indictive of just how fatal the Wraith's mistrust of each other was and how their aggression could be used to humanity's advantage
I never understood how Sheppard could fly that Dart. In the previous episode he was only able to control it with the help of a tablet computer translating for him. Barely. Here he was able to fly, use the transport beam and fire the weapons. AND he seemed to understand the HUD which he didn't before.
Ships made of organic material which fight by firing off broadsides. Wraith Hives make me think of good old fashioned Ships of the Line (A precursor to the Battleship).
During one of the Legacy books, a team raids a hive to rescue a Wraithed McKay and retrieve a stolen ZPM. They are unable to retrieve the ZPM but instead set it to overload, ultimately destroying the Hive Ship. However, Ronon, McKay and Keller get stuck aboard so Ronon gets them off on an Escape Pod. They end up getting stranded in space with no forces around, both friendly or enemy but McKay wakes up as himself and is able to control the pod. While its not much the nearby planet turns out to have a Stargate and McKay is able to land there. They eventually use the Stargate to return to Atlantis.
In case anyone's wondering, the latest book in the Legacy series confirms Ford survived this battle. He escaped the Wraith chasing him and stole a Dart when they started firing each other. He didn't know how to fly it though and crashed on the planet where the Travelers eventually found them. Their doctor was a Wraith worshipper and knew how to treat his withdrawal so he went through it and survived. It took him a year to recover though. He then started fighting the Wraith known as Wolf before the team (along with Weir (who returned) and Daniel) find him and he's returned to Earth with his wife and son.
the stargate "books" are the worst fanfiction i have read in my whole life. He somehow stole the Dart without any knowlege how it works or the genes to use it. Of course the Travelers found a single crashed guy on a planet in time. Of Course the Doctor of the Travelers was a Wraith worshipper (that alone leads to so many more questions) and because of that they know how to treat his withdrawal (because wraith worshippers are known for there anti-wraith knowlege and plans) and of course it ends in a happy end somehow.
@@TheTSense How would a Traveler even be a wraith worshipper? The only reason they survive is because they have decent speed ships so they avoid the wraith by running away and staying in space 99.9% of the time. They would almost never be culled.
Remind me, because I’m forgetful sometimes. Weren’t the Wraith pilots their low-level drone type soldiers who kind of operated via collective mentality.
This is just silly. Granted, I don't know the Wraith's Hirachy, but they are able to communicate. This behavior is something I expect from Medival times inwhich noone had a telephone, but not a Race with space flight and warp technology. Also can I just take a moment and point out the sad fact that Hive Ships are made out of paper?
Different Wraith colonies didn't trust each other very much. It's comparable to the cold war just that they occasionally work together if it's nessesary (for example fighting high developed races)
Different hives are rivals to each other, the same way the Goa'uld system lords are also rivals to each other. They might temporarily put aside their rivalry to face a common threat. Earth and Atlantis survived as long as they did in the face of such overwhelming force, partly because they know how to play the rivalry of the wraith and goa'uld against teach other.
The organization depends on a single fraction being significantly more powerful than the others eliminating all doubt of who is in charge. In this situation that did not seem to be the case as both hives apparently considered betrayal by the other as likely enough to start shooting at each other without question.
Before they escaped and stole the dart, Sheppard was being interrogated and half-convinced them that the other hive wanted the feeding grounds to themselves. The weapons fires ended up selling the bit. It wasn't too long after where a more widespread Wraith civil war happened, so we know they were already close to a tipping point.
+Theri4444 Well the Legacy book series (which is an official continuation) continues the storyline and concludes it. The 6th book is basically one huge battle and the preparations for it. It features Atlantis, the Hammond (with SG-1 having come to help), the Genii (who found and repaired an Ancient ship though not a warship) and Todd's faction against a massive Wraith faction that's decimating the galaxy. The battle also takes place over the planet where the Wraith were first created by the Ancients. That's right: the Ancients created them. They were a science experiment gone wrong like the Asurans. The battle ends with Teyla killing the Wraith Queen who is responsible and them capturing the Wraith Commander responsible for her actions. He turns out to be the last remaining original Wraith. Has some really cool things in the books like Rodney transformed into a Wraith, some minor space battles. One has the Wraith send a hive ship and cruiser equipped with shields (Wraith Rodney) against Atlantis who sends out the Daedalus and the Hammond. A 302 pilot manages to take out the cruiser's life support and hole it, killing the crew (they later capture the ship for themselves) while the Daedalus and Hammond go toe to toe with the hive ship. The Hammond is nearly destroyed when Carter tries a suicide run but the Daedalus draws the hive's attention. Carter (the last of the crew) uses the last of the ship's power to fire the Hammond's railguns into the hive ship's damaged stern, destroying it. She'd have then died on the powerless ship but the Daedalus beamed her out. They later repair the Hammond while the Daedalus returns to Earth. Hammond later takes on another hive single-handedly to rescue McKay and does a hell of a job. They mention the hive loses half its weapons systems in the battle and takes significant damage. Hammond is hindered by the damage it took which they couldn't fully repair without going back to Earth. In the end Todd is able to rig the hive to blow and his hive rescues part of the team before fleeing along with the Hammond when reinforcements arrive. Neither ship is able to beam out Keller, Ronon and Rodney but Ronon gets them into an escape pod. McKay, while still a Wraith, has regained control of himself and is able to land them on a nearby planet that has a Stargate and they use that to return to Atlantis where Keller and Beckett get him back to normal.
+WarGrowlmon18 Personally, I don't think novelizations of TV series or movies ever really work. However "official" they might be, they always seem more like fan fiction, though perhaps a somewhat higher grade of fan fiction. One way or another, there is enough of a difference to justify keeping the two media distinct.
There was supposed to be a couple of films to finish atlantis off but they were cancelled. Most things involving stargate end up being cancelled for some reason or another. Many stargate games have never seen the light of day for various reasons as well.
Sheppard: "im going to do what's called a pro gamer move"

The sound of the Hives weapons is the best in Sci-fi and the sound of the Beams being stopped by the shield is amazing too, you can feel the Power.

I think we're supposed to understand that between the previous episode and this one, he's learned (read "mastered") perfect dart space flight.
it's all but stated he's a low-key genius throughout the series
He's also a fighter pilot in the airforce, and the Dart's controls are designed for the lowest (read: dumbest) echelon of Wraith society.
Yeah it's called learning over time dumbass.
