Destiny is the toughest ship I've ever seen. The fucker is going around for thousands, possibly million of years without any maintenance and still manages to just withstand against multiple ships shooting it for minutes countless times. For less than that other ships have vanished into the abyss. Destiny is a fucking titan among ships.
That was such a good show. Fuck, Stargate all together was great. I miss that shit.
Ancient shielding in general was pretty hardcore.
Their guns... less so. That was more the Asgard thing.

This show proves that stargate still has a lot of potential left. If they can't get a new network to pick up universe they should at least make a direct to tv movie so we can find out what happened to Eli.
They should make a series based in the time of the ancients.

Do you have learning difficulties? The original audio doesn't just have sound effects on it, it also has the music from the episode on it. There is absolutely no way to isolate one from the other.
They should have made a movie to give closure to Atlantis and explain the discovery of the 9th chevron. Two gaps to be filled. They also need to continue the u series and reveal destinys mission
Yeah, lets hope it all comes back, SGUnite is our only hope of getting SGU back to the screens.

Some say Destiny is ugly, but it is what it is...nearly literally. A seasoned, weathered, Battle Axe.
Destiny was made millions year before Atlantis and of course Destiny look like that look up other ship build by the ancients they had poor designs in ships not including stargate
Atlantis and the stargate on Destiny is probably older then sg1 and sga did you see the note book in stargate ark of truth you see the drawing is a stargate
I hope these people say the same about the Prometheus.
In my opinion it is the most beautiful ship in the series.
Especially in FTL where it cuts through space with this beautiful Aurora effect
@TheOtherFIST If Destiny was replaced entirely with a BC-304 like the Oddyssey, the crew would not have to worry about any attacks. The Asgard Beams will take care of large ships. And I'm pretty sure the railguns can manage the smaller ships such as the Drones.
Stargate Universe was the Best Show! It was about exploration of the universe rather fighting some specific alien race or enemy as usually we see in space science fiction....
Destiny is possibly one of the most resilient ships in all scifi. That thing is functioning for millions of years non-stop, have battled countless times, dive into a star that she wasn't supposed to get close and without no actual repair, still works.
SG should have met BSG. Cylons vs Wraiths vs Replicators vs Goulds... Would have been so awesome.
@GortonMichael That's what I've also wondered for awhile. In fact, even without the Asgard weapons, a 304 is still capable of destroying at least one gould mothership on it's own. Plus, the ground forces had more than enough firepower to shoot down all the gliders. They did it before on Atlantis where they shot down tons of Wraith Darts.
Anyone who would get offended by something as innocuous as me calling bullshit on a statement is probably not someone who's worth my time to begin with.
It would be interesting if the people in Destiny traveled back along a cosmic string and became the ancients. An interesting case where the fifth race and the first race are the same people due to time travel
If you don't like it, then don't watch it and give it to the people who (like me) find this not only a damn good show, but a fucking piece of art!
Stargate Universe is not SG-1 or SGA it is SGU!!
Because I think Atlantis was to childish but you didn't hear me say it sucked cause I didn't fucking watched it and let other people watch it who do enjoy it!!!!!
Maybe they should rename the show ''Destiny''..
So like the Hobbit movies were like: its not LOTR, some people think its a piece of art etc.etc.
Anyway, I really enjoyed SGU but out of the StarGate trilogy, I think it was the weakest one, and sg-1 being the best but that is purely because I haven't seen much of it because the only episodes of it the channel Pick did show, they kept repeating it over and over and over until some really good ones somehow turned boring. But from what I have seen it was really good.
But have you noticed that the series are half-ing each time? Sg-1 lasted for 10 seasons, SGA lasted for 5 seasons (half of 10) and SGU lasted for 2 seasons (more or less half of 5), and they were gonna make another StarGate series and that didn't even last for 1 season!
The Hobbit is a different story, it is a START to LOTR. The hobbit is based on a CHILDRENS BOOK. While LOTR was after The Hobbit book, it was a complete different style.
As for Stargate, yes, I have a theory on that. At first Stargate Atlantis was ment to be as dark and deep as Stargate Universe. But this was canned because SG1 was ending and they needed a back-up source of income. Then SGU came along.
Right at that time came a new network president, who had a reall strange idea of sci-fi (wrestling). So he re-named the channel syfy.
Then everything that had Sci-Fi in syfy was cancelled in favour of live shows. SGA had enough viewers to keep on going, but was cancelled anyway, so a starting new dark deep SGU had to carry the whole load. Fans blamed SGU for the cancellation of SGA. When SGU was cancelled MGM GREENLIT A MOVIE for SGU. But syfy cancelled it.
With that SGU was cancelled BEFORE the midseason finale of season 2. (They couldn't wait?) Cause the ratings of the season 2 at the end were good.
Many many other sci-fi shows who had good ratings were moved to a day that they had no good rating left and was cancelled.
With the anniversary of SYFY they chose to LEAVE OUT THE STARGATE SERIES. While that was BIG important income of their development as a channel.
Now 4 years later, a new syfy president is there and there are new upcoming sci-fi shows, and sci-fi gets back its fridays. (what?)
I don't blame SGA and SG1 fans for not liking SGU. Its a taste, I blame them for laying in the way. I mean a petition to keep SGU cancelled? They hanged themselfs on any chance of getting the SGA movie. They didn't respect the makers of the series, and the taste of other people.
Sooo the network gets away scott free and SGU gets the blame.
Anyhow If you want it back, there is a slight chance that A streaming company can pick it up. Netflix has offered to try to make a ball roll if the signatures are reached. It is a slight chance, but it can happen. (The rights for the trilogy movie are different rights for the series) The cast has already signed the petition. You can find it here:

What I never quite understoood was how they were unable to hold off all this lucian alliance ships when icarus base was being attacked. During the battle of atlantis, they had a force of about the same size using the same weapons and they were able to hold off hundreds of wraith darts for a whole night. Why couldn't they do the same at Icarus Base? I believe the Wraith are more advanced than the Gould too.
The drones were great. There was a lot of potential for them.
imagine if while fighting the drones, Destiny launches drones (the missile ones the ancients used) to destroy them

Yea i know. I have seen all SG-1/Atlantis episodes over and over for the last 5 years. But i actually liked SGU.
I know how to edit. I deliberately didn't leave the music in it because it would sound shit jumping from one piece of music in one clip to another in another. If you don't like it - good, I'm glad.

@starflame34 the ship wasn't finished building yet IIRC, it was just used as transport there, they didn't expect a massive attack so they thought that the ship would be fine even when not completely done
That comment is unintelligible. Explain in plain English what you mean. The "original audio" is the audio from the series, which invariably has a score in the background during battle scenes. If I don't add a soundtrack over the video, the sound will constantly be chopping from one piece of music to another. If you mean use music composed for the series as a soundtrack - it's not available.
That was such an awesome video!! thanks for putting it up! the show was amazing as well, I wish it had been given more of a chance. It kind of filled 2 voides, both the SG and BSG franchises sort of wrapped into one show. I still think the guys who work on Stargates special effects do a much better job than the teams that work on shows like V on abc.

@Generalkidd actually, if you looked at the episode you could see the goa'uld hataks firing their weapons into the planet, they made it explode.
*Nerdifies* They'd most likely run on an Asgard reactor, which offer TONS of energy in a renewable way. Just not as much a ZPM. (The Ancients had the cornerstone on energy tech.)
Or they'd just focus on the shielding much more, and go for better railguns and such, which would be interesting.

@starflame34 Actually, as far as I can remember, Atlantis only managed to use a few drones before they ran out of power. The Lucian Alliance weren't trying to destroy Icarus Base either. Their intent was to capture and occupy it so they could get to Destiny themselves since it was the only way to Destiny for them at the time. And even if the Alliance was a surprise attack, Icarus Base was still battle ready before the gliders entered the atmosphere, not to mention they had a 304 to protect them.
I didn't say the beginning of the ancients. I said during the time of the ancients, sort of like the forerunner trilogy in Halo. Maybe something about Merlin, perhaps? Or maybe the plague that infected the Milky Way and caused the ancients to have to plant the device on Takara and use it.

The whole "scientists are dorky, action men are cool" thing really got in my nerves in the three installs. I've watched all of Atlantis and Universe, but even though I began with SG-1 and it was a good companion when I'd hit Syfy randomly, once I took it in order, it tired off sometime in the second or third season.
I mean, that's still less tired than "military bad, trees good" from Avatar, but damn. Can't we have a series in which science and action aren't at odds?

Unfortunately I never followed SGU because of time issues. However, I was rather dissapointed when they decided to cancel Stargate Atlantis which was an extremely brilliant show. Now they can't even pull off to make the movie that has been promised for so long. I never watched SGU to be a fan but I can imagine that all the fans are as put out as I was when Stargate Atlantis was cancelled. I think it would have been best if Stargate SG1 were to have been continued. STARGATE FOREVER!!

Man, I remember Everett's character looked like a fucking badass at 8:49 as he strode forward with (what looks like) an M249 (correct me if I'm wrong) shooting the scout.
@MsCcProductions it's not even just old it's also outdated compared to the other ancient warships we saw in sg1 and atlantis it was sent out before those other ships were made

Actually that ship was the General Hammond and they had beam weapons then
they still could have if they jsut gave a reason why they weren't firing the beams
like in the suprise attack they took out the beam weapons
Honestly I think it would have been better if the up points in music would have been synced up with things like explosions to give more impact. I like the video over all.
Just more a thought in hindsight. Granted there is alot less space battling in SGU then say SGA or SG1.

Well I go most of my SGU from Netflix so waiting a week for it wasn't an issue. I liked it because it almost had that BSG feel to it but still had the Stargate side to it.
@starflame34 this is based before season 10 of sg-1... its during the time period where carter left and was captain of the daedalus in the 8th or 9th season... so o beam weapons yet....
Well, it depends IMO. When the original contains music, there is really no way to make it work without chopping it up, unless you take entire scenes. Also I enjoy a soundless space battle every once in a while. Sound doesn't travel through the near-vacuum of space :P
at this time they had 4 odyssey Daedalus hammond and i think the last one was called saratoga or something like that
yh the reason was because otherwise it would have been too easy they should of added like 4 hatak then used the beams would have made more sense
i was randomly on a wiki page for stargate recently and while one cant take wiki as outright fact, it did say something about Lucian Alliance developing shields that had greater resistance to the asgard beams, maybe thats at play here?

Not the case. Exept for the very first ep, there wasn't much action at the beginning, but SG is about much more than the action. It did pick up later in the first season and through the 2nd season tho.
I want to see the full powered Atlantis to leave Earth for rescuing Destiny and going into battle kicking some skinny alien asses from other galaxies.
I also want the Asgards back, even the bad ones from Pegasus.

I just don't understand it. They never could have lost this battle. Their nukes alone should have one-shotted the ha'taks, and they had a full complement of fighters.
The lucien guys have a few years of expericence at most, so they're going to be bad flyers compared to the earth ones, and the defences on the ground should have had no difficulty.
Therefore, we are forced to conclude it is all for the sake of the plot, and so I ignore everything that it caused.
there was originally 2 Atlantis movies planed but both were cancelled by syfy
@GortonMichael thats so true a 304 prob can take on 5 ha'taks with those asgard shields and weapons..and since they had drone tech since fighting annubis why havent they copied some of it by now..

When I realized the plan to crysleep was actually the franchise folding down, it was a big downer.
On the other hand, that was only one of their timelines... they have that other one that spanned 2000 years of history :-D
I've just realized now: that timeline now has a whole planet worth of people in colony ships drifting through space, while maybe being harassed by those AI drones.

Imagine if destiny had a secondary shield which is a asgard design. Destinys primary shield would hold back the fire of the dromes and secondary would stop the drones ramming into the ship
i will see the next sesion from Star Gate Universe, come on Guys, do it your work, and reanimated this epic Story of the Destiny, i will see Elay and the other Guys, and i will see the Secret in the Deep Space.
Except 304s have decent run time.

@walterchamber Not impossible, just really, really difficult. The Firefly fans getting Serenity is proof that's it's possible. I just don't see the producers putting the effort in to getting it back on the air.

@No2647 this is set to take place before sg-1 season 10 when they got the beam weapons. Just compare the timeframe of when Carter was captain to when she was captain on sg-1. I want to say about season 9? maybe back half of 8 or early 10?
