When I play Xcom Enemy Unknown always remember me the first missions to the beginning of Atlantis. It was a great show and would be nice to know what happened the rest of Expedition and the Pegasus Galaxy after end of season 5th.
I don't know the status of the novels in the official canon, but I still highly recommend reading the SGA-Legacy novels. For me personally, they do a fantastic job of finishing SGA properly. I wish the same authors would do the same for SGU.
It seems to me that they should have tried to hold the gate open longer to send as many supplies through as possible. Because it really didn't look like they brought enough. Including needing to bring a few nukes. Especially if they didn't know if they could ever get back.
I like the complete change in tone between this and the first time an eight-chevron address was dialed (the incident with the Ancient Database). Not expecting it: "Chevron Seven... is encoded...?" 🤔 "Chevron EIGHT is locked." Expecting it and hoping it to work: "...Chevron Eight is locked!"
I always thought that the amount of stuff they brought was so little and there was no way they could've survived a year with just the few equipment they brought over.
On many missions they have to search planets with people who want to trade or sell food, that’s the reason they could survive one year. The supplies they brought were limited
@@jonathanc5625I get that. But there's no way you don't bring months of rations to help the ppl settle in there first. You can't go to another galaxy and expect bounties and people to trade with. There was an expedition of like 60 ppl and they brought only like a few items with them. Which was evident in that gate room.
yes, it would make a lot of sense to have and electric buggy/tractor pulling a train of cargo buggies, sized to just fit through the gate. You could have one person driving that train of maybe ten cars pull maybe 50,000 pounds of gear through in under a minute, then all the people head through.
@johnscully1924 seriously! I've always thought it was nonsense they didn't take pallet jacks fully loaded at the minimum. They could have had a raised roller track sending hundreds of cargo boxes though along with emergency supplies like inflatable boats, bicicles, drones. So much more than what you can carry.
That's not it - this episode takes place after New Order in season 8 while O'Neill is in command of the SGC. And good ol' sarge Walter is still occupying the same post in every episode after New Order, and the later seasons under General Landry. Hell, Landry even tells him at some point "Don't make me promote you." It's a running gag that Walter doesn't ever get promoted.

Does anyone know when they lowered the control room? In earlier seasons of SG1 it used to be a good 15 feet higher than the floor of the gate room. Now it only appears to be 3-4 feet farther up.

If you look at 3:01 and compare that to other episodes of Stargate SG1 you’ll see that in SG1s earlier episodes the control room (where Jackson & O’Neill are) looks considerably higher than in this clip.

Two of the main characters were Canadian and Scottish. One of the main secondary characters was german. But you're right there were alot of americans considering this was an American led expedition.

Considering that Sheppard was all for throwing the Geneva Convention out the window as soon as it became inconvenient... I gotta say that his CO was right about him; he should not have been on the Atlantis Expedition. Then again, Weir went along with it so she probably shouldn't have been leading the expedition either... If they ever get around to making a new Stargate series I hope that they don't keep trying to make it 'grittier'. The original series was all about stopping tyrannical false gods, ending slavery and putting a stop to the wholesale slaughter of innocents. You don't need to make that 'gritty' unless you're trying to hammer home the horror of it! And if you need that to be made clear then you probably should have a close look at and overhaul of your educational system. Then there's Atlantis' predator and prey dynamic. They should have studied ACTUAL predator-prey dynamics in nature before tackling the sentient version of that. Honestly... The protagonists acted more like bad guys, then the good guys.

Any number of things could have gone wrong here. They might have dialed a black hole, they might have dialed directly into hostile territory, a defunct space station, or they could have walked into live security lasers, a biodome with limited oxygen, the city's shield could have failed instantly and they all drowned, or there could have been dangerous pathogens on the other side.
@@prion42 The city shield does fail, and all but Weir drown, but then due to time travel, more ZPMs are added before the Ancients leave ensuring the shields hold.

Weir was the best civilian commander tbh. No one was as good as her. Gen Hammond, Weir were the top 2. O'Neill sucked as the leader of SG Command so did Carter. They don't have the personality or what it takes to be a leader. They're great as unit leaders of 3-4 people tops (not Carter as she is more an individual contributor) but def do not have the overall command skills.
Fully agree, Weir was a talented actor and the best commander of SG universe. No clue why they got rid of her early. That and the cruel treatment she received as a replica after helping them later on.

we saw all those people have different badges and different countries and yet only really the Americans had any screen time in the show.
