This song is easily my favorite out of any in PTO. I think it’s the one that best conveys the phantoms motives and flaws. It’s beautiful and inspiring while tragic at the same time. It represents an escape from the harsh reality into a dreamworld where our spirits can sour and we can be whoever we wish to be. However, the phantom is a character who has enveloped themselves in this dreamworld and has become delusional as a result. Though undeniably talented, the phantom is little more than a deformed man unable to accept his unfortunate reality. This is why the phantom is so adamant on stealing Christine’s love, as coming to terms with her rejection forces him to face the harsh reality he tries so hard to hide from. The phantom wants nothing more than to live in the false reality he has created for himself. However, he ends up hurting the one he loves for the sake of achieving this goal. The music of the night represents the beauty of a brief escape from our everyday lives, but also shows the tragedy of someone losing touch with reality as a whole.

Raf... just, RAF... oh my God Raf, please never ever stop being this charming dynamo of dashing alto bravado that you are. Your Phantom is beyond words. The smoothness, the seduction, the quiet and introspective delivery... this feels like a Phantom that could never do me any harm. This Phantom is a true caretaker, and her voice is the warmest, most plush blanket that you could ever get wrapped up in on a cool, starry summer night. I will forever be infatuated! 😍
And Lacey... oh, dear, sweet Lacey... I'm genuinely *peeved* that she only has barely 11,000 subscribers right now. THIS kind of consistent performance could seriously land her a professional career in the industry. HOW IS SHE SO SOARING?!? Michael had Sarah, Ramin had Sierra, and by God, Raf has singled out and found her perfect Christine in Lacey, the only Angel of Music befitting of such a captivating Phantom. Lacey's voice is pure velvet to the ears. She brings such a meek, soft and pretty tone to Christine that I feel is unique to her. Dare I say that Lacey is still my favorite vocalist for Raf to collaborate with. The ways in which each complements the other with their voices and personalities is just sublime, and they steal the show every time they team up. Did I mention that Lacey is angelic???
This cover single-handedly made me crumble and surrender to the Phandom from the moment I heard it. I'm gonna continue to say it until the day that I'm laid out six feet under, Music of the Night is my favorite musical number of all time. Every time I hear it, my eyes water up as I'm immediately lifted up and sent into peaceful orbit among the stars that shine bright and light a path across the night sky. This song has been known to cause the power of flight, I wholeheartedly believe that. It's the sweetest dream that I wish for everyone to have, there is nothing that compares to it. Two years after this and all the other POTO covers were uploaded, I cannot thank Raf and Lacey ENOUGH for taking us on this deeply romantic and magical journey through this sapphic interpretation of musical theater's most famous romantic pairing. Bravissimo doesn't even BEGIN to cover my feelings, but it's all I got after being rendered speechless every time. BRAVO!!
