I think that’s part of the point. Catching you off guard. The remix sound and the dark imagery, tells you right off the bat something is… a little bit off but the twist at the end still has some impact due to the happy romantic association everyone who’s seen the movie will have with the song…
This reminds me of the Austrian folktale "Donauweibchen". In which a young fisher-son falls in love with a mermaid/water-nymph and follows her into the Donau. Becoming her slave and unable to return home, unless an unsolvable task is completed. Spoilers: The story ends with the father of the fisher-son mourning the loss of his only child, for he knows hewill never return.

The amazing part was, that after this incident, people reported seeing the white cat crying on the roof. Only when the house was demolished did the cat disappear too. And then there is the whole story about the cursed curch tower.

The twist you could get from this version of the song is the fact that the boy doesn't want to kiss her, but the girl wants to. So she's speaking in third person. Seducing him that way.
This is kiss the Girl as a villain song. Not a sublte suggestion from a friend but a command from someone who has influence/power over you. You have no choice in the matter. As someone who loves villains, this was an unexpected but darkly delightful cover.
The scenario that comes to mind everytime I listen to this cover is about Person A being hopelessly in love with Person B but tries not to act on it as they know that the latter merely sees them as either a good friend or a professional acquaintance but gets more and more restless and insane everyday as their desires keep singing the song in their head to get them to "kiss the girl" and succumb to temptation.

I think I'm now in danger of breaking the replay button. My jaw actually dropped when I realised what you'd achieved with this. This isn't just a fantastic cover; you made the song your own. I love the way you put your own spin and flavour on the songs you do, it feels much more personal than what many cover artists do, but this... this is above and beyond. Keep doing what you do, ma'am.
Omg I've heard this a while ago, im I'm proud I finally found it. When I found out the fact that it's from Ariel I was shocked. This cover is mesmerising and to be honest I prefer the cover over the original. That would be such a nice song for a villain, its great. Only just started listening to your music, really love the dark edge you put into a lot of it. When I saw you'd covered this particular song, I have to admit to not being too interested; it's a pretty forgettable one from a largely average movie.
Then I listened to it.
I think I'm now in danger of breaking the replay button. My jaw actually dropped when I realised what you'd achieved with this. This isn't just a fantastic cover; you made the song your own. I love the way you put your own spin and flavour on the songs you do, it feels much more personal than what many cover artists do, but this... this is above and beyond.

Omg I've heard this a while ago, im I'm proud I finally found it. When I found out the fact that it's from Ariel I was shocked. This cover is mesmerising and to be honest I prefer the cover over the original. That would be such a nice song for a villain, its great. I absolutely adore everything that's in minor key, it makes everything sound 100 times better and I feel like it has a deeper meaning. Ur interpretation was truly awesome, good job! =)
