Okay, this one beat the original out of the ballpark. Raoul whomst? This is not only absolutely beautiful and delightful to hear, it continues a running theme in your covers that I could not be more pleased by: it gives Christine AGENCY. I had never been able to truly get into either of the love interests. Erik lies to Christine, manipulates and threatens her, he goes so far as pretending to be her father and threatening Raoul's life repeatedly because she likes him, and in one instance even physically attacking Christine herself. Meanwhile Raoul keeps dismissing Christine and her very real fears and concerns until he decides to use her as bait even though she doesn't want to. Christine apparently has no say in anything -she performs when she's pushed to, she has no lyrics in Music of the Night and is basically a prop for Erik, she can't so much as refuse a dinner offer. Sit still look pretty. Lacey's Christine has agency. She decides. She takes an active part in the story, an active role in her own seduction. She chooses. And your Erika respects her. She doesn't lie or threaten; your versions of MON and PONR feel like genuine seduction and not manipulation. Christine gets to decide. And Erika wants her to choose her, but to choose truly. @Don't Take It Personal Leroux didn't write Erik as a love interest. Someone you should pity, and at the same time be terrified of -it's like people forget that in the novel, he spent YEARS creating imaginative torture devices for various powerful figures, including the cook-you-alive mirror maze for the Shah that he later replicates in the catacombs (and traps Raoul in). He's not in love with Christine -he's obsessed with her because she is both beautiful and pure, two things he can never be. He manipulates, murders, lies, kidnaps, and sees no problem with any of this, nearly driving Christine insane in the process. Because of what ALW did to the character, people forget that Phantom, the novel, is a thriller mystery with gothic horror elements, not a romance novel, despite Raoul and Christine's relationship. Leroux was an avid fan of Poe and Doyle and wanted to sort of fuse their styles in this. ALW wanted a tragic romantic figure, so he basically invented it. And I agree with you on the actor front. Erik is supposed to be deformed to the extent of being nearly impossible to look at, described as a gaunt skull-like face with parchment looking skin stretched taut over his bones, deep eye sockets with abnormal irises, barely any lips, no nose, etc. His voice, which sounds inhuman in the novel, is a sort of divine tradeoff for his infernal-looking deformity. By contrast, Ramin Karimloo with a half-face scarred prosthetic, or worse, Gerard Butler sporting what looks genuinely like an excessive bee sting around one eye, is naturally not going to scare the wits out of you. I'll admit ALW made Erik very skillfully manipulative, so much so that he manipulates the audience as well, I just see red flags like his from a mile. Problem is, he himself romanticized his own antagonist so much that over the years the nastiest aspects of Erik's personality have basically evaporated from the staging, except for two murders and his gaslighting of Christine. For example, the 25th anniversary production deliberately left out the Christine doll Erik made and kept (resulting, by the way, in Christine fainting for no apparent reason rather than the sight of it), because it looked too creepy and stalkerish. And then he wrote his fanfiction sequel, which isn't even based on his OWN fanfiction, it's mostly taken from a penny dreadful unofficial sequel called Phantom Of Manhattan, and threw every character imaginable under the bus to prop Erik up as the right romantic choice. Which, again, he was *never meant to be*, lmao.
Ok but like Christine has always had agency. She had to make the decision herself to perform. The whole reason she went to visit her dad's grave was because she was asking him to give her the strength to move on from his death but still keep the beautiful memories. The reason why she's attracted to him is because she believed him to be the Angel of Music sent by her beloved dad to give her vocal lessons. In Twisted Every Way she sings about how she's torn, she's terrified to perform but she knows if she doesn't more people will die. Raoul told her she should do it but he never forced her. I feel really bad for The Phantom he didn't deserve how the world treated him. But who in their right mind would choose him over sweet Raoul? The Phantom stalked her, lied to her several times, terrifies her because he keeps stalking her, murders people that didn't deserve to die, threatens her and Raoul several times, he threatens to kill Raoul in the book if she doesn't marry him and in the book Erik threatens to kill all of them, blowing up the opera house if she says no. Raoul leads her out of her depression and darkness. Promises to protect her but he's the bad guy? Yeah Raoul has issues like everyone does but he is far from a horrible person or a bad choice for Christine. She figured out why he was the way he was and chose to show him compassion and kindness by hugging and kissing him. Christine is the true hero of the story! Yeah Christine and Erik would have a very unhealthy relationship. But I do agree Erik and Christine would have a very unhealthy relationship and their voices are beautiful in this!
I will not lie. I did NOT expect the lyrics to be rewritten at all. This sure as Hell did NOT disappoint! I love how you blended other songs (Masquerade, Phantom of the Opera, Think of Me, etc.) with "All I Ask of You." A hauntingly beautiful piece, RafScrap!
The music combined with the art is just so perfect. I want to drown in the lines you sing. If I could be Christine in a version where you're the Phantom of the opera I would not hesitate a second (I'd change the ending though). ❤
I would second that! To have so many girls wishing to be Christine if you are the Phantom, RAF. I’d follow you anywhere without a thought in my mind by being mesmerized by you 💙💙💙

I feel like people don't give enough attention to that "Save me, lead me from my solitude." I could listen to that single sentence over and over again,
I'm way too gay for this. I am absolutely crying rn. Not even in a figurative sense. Legit, my pillow is soaked. All these POTO covers are so brilliantly done between the vocals and the lyric arrangements.
I have been following the release of these songs silently, but listening to them on repeat. You guys performed my favorite song from the Phantom of the Opera magnificently! Brava!
RafScrap…Lacey… you both have given the Lesbian community something so amazing I can’t even fully articulate it. It’s not that they have dedicated such heart to each of these songs that gives those individuals in the LGBTQ+ community that can better relate and connect to some of the most iconic music in the world, allowing us to actually have some much needed reputation that WE can relate to directly. They went a step further and actually rearranged some of these iconic songs so they gave Christine’s character more agency and choice in what she is doing, while simply altering the toxic manipulating elements into open wanting, pleading, and honest seduction. (If you want a more and quite frankly much more fascinating breakdown of the differences between the original and Raf’s check out Raven Sutcliffe’s post. It is totally 💯% on point.) Frankly, I just want to thank RafScrap and Lacey for doing all you do. It really does mean so so much to us! Maybe one day I will actually get to make a comment on the day one of these things come out so they will actually get to see what I wrote… *Sighs*
I try to respond to as many comments as I can, this one means a lot to me. It's absolutely my pleasure to provide the Sapphic content I longed for while growing up. Extraordinarily happy to be able to give you a rendition you enjoy. Thanks for the love 💕

The darkness is not always to be feared...Beautiful as always. Again, I could wish a happier ending where Christine and Erika run off into the night away from those who would destroy their love. And here, my sapphic succubus heart is happy once more with a wonderful rendition of the Music of the Night...
This is a romance I craved when I was blind to the cruelty of the world. It’s terribly tender and sweet. This rendition of All I Ask Of You is perfection.
One of the things I love from your covers is how full of emotion they are. I never thought I would hear something like this. You two are our angels of music. I wonder how a female version of "El tango de Roxanne" from Moulin Rouge would sound like 🖤
Oh! Judging by the rings in the cover art, I take it Lacey's Christine is gonna end up with the phantom! I like the subtle twisting you guys have done to improve the romance between Christine and the Phantom and make it less unilateral. Beautiful as always!
I've absolutely LOVED this musical since my 3rd grade teacher played it in our classroom. The original "All I Ask of You" with Raoul was her favorite song and for awhile, it was mine, too. But this DEFINITELY takes the cake because I was always rooting for the Phantom! I adore everything about this!! I especially love the change in lyrics from "Love me, that's all I ask of you" to "Sing for me, that's all I ask of you" because it matches both Raoul's and Eric's characters. I always found this line a bit demanding from Raoul, considering he's asking Christine to "love him," and that's not something you can follow up with "-that's all I ask". Meanwhile, the Phantom's line turns into "Sing for me," which is not only a brilliant callback to the musical's iconic song; but it's used in such a gentle, sparing way in this version of "All I Ask of You." You make it such an endearing, yearnful request, almost like a plea. It doesn't ask for too much, if you will. It's almost as if the Phantom asks Christine, "Please, before you go, \if you must go\, sing for me, this one last time." Amazing job!!
Headcanon where Lacey's necklace is an angel wing in the shape of a music key. Now I shall proceed and scream in pain as the curtains fall down because as much as I've been excitedly waiting for the next upload, it marks the end of the serie and damn I was enjoying it so much. Super glad that this was the final song, I really loved every bit of it. The whole nostalgia of all the previous covers really got to their max in this one. Will certainly listen to them a LOT again and again, congrats to everyone for the BEAUTIFUL, ASTOUNDING, HEARTSHATTERING deep and hardwork. As some one who has loved phantom of the opera for a very long time, I have to say that this version is hands down one of the absolute best I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Bravo 👏
"Do you fear the light as I fear you? Are you afraid I'll leave you too?" She's insinuating that Phantom is afraid of the light stealing her away. Therefore, she fears her in the way that she'll disappear once more, without a trace. Subtle, yet sublime, expertly conveying Christine's fears and feelings toward Erika.
Okay but I just have to say these covers have meant such a great deal to me, truly, I have cried listening to each of these.... As a teen I listened to POTO obsessively and went as the Phantom for Halloween every year, the story meant so much to me as a baby lesbian immigrant outcast from my community and bullied into hiding for being so different. NEVER would I have expected to hear a wlw POTO cover.... I grew up having no representation I would have NEVER expected the internet would provide a creative space for something that so specifically hits I know I'm an internet stranger and these are just random words on a screen, I really wish I could stress how sincerely close to my heart these beautiful covers have been. But I cannot thank you enough for these, for taking the time to express your talents and sharing them with those who needed yours and Laceys voice. Also legally obligated to say "sorry for my english, its not my first" don't know how to use it to spill my heart yet but i tried
So....when are we getting a full movie of this? Cause uh, the way you two do the songs where it sounds like Christine and Erik [Erika] are a thing instead of her and Raoul.
the moment I heard Lacey start singing after your intro i almost broke out into tears it was so beautiful and then when you BOTH were singing it was just --- IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL - THIS IS BEAUTIFUL - I LOVE THIS SO MUCH

The rewritten lyrics were incredible ! The whole song was magic ❤️ I’ve fallen in love with the phantom all over again and Erika is my new angel of music I will follow anywhere .
Truly beautiful. The lyrics were perfectly toned with each others and I can honestly say. These are truly angels of music. I'm really hoping though for more overlord opening and ending songs. Your voice was amazing on the one you did.
Phantom of the Opera is my comfort place, and usually I don't like covers of it, but this....... this is not only your own creativity, it's special to you too. The way the two of you sang, noy only sang of love, but betrayal too and heartbreak was the tune to which it came. This brought me to tears, thank you for brining one of my most special dreams into reality, unspoken Phantom.
Oh my god... i'm speechless, but i'll try to express my feelings in mere superfluous words. First of all, how can you two be so talented???????? I'm shocked at how the lyrics of the song were rewritten - and OH MY GOD, it matched SO MUCH with the Phantom singing the song with Christine!!! It gave even greater depth to their relationship, as it shows a delicate, passionate and purer side of the Phantom, who just wants to love Christine. Were you the one who rewrote the lyrics? It's perfect, i am in love with this new version 💖 And all this combined so perfectly with the art!!! When the image appeared I gasped and was breathless because IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL, DELICATE AND TRANSMITS SO MANY EMOTIONS!!! The highlights and shadows are beautiful, and I loved the Phantom's hair so much! And also the way the Phantom is holding Christine is so soft and delicade... is too much for my gay heart 🤧 I really love your drawing style. What a artist!!! This re-reading is so much better than the original song, honestly hahaha with each cover it seems that you surpass yourself more and more, it's impressive. You and Lacey are super talented! Sincerely, RafScrap... take my heart. It's not much but it's all I have to show my love for your voice, your art and everything you have represented for me hahaha Be my queen please. That's all I ask of you 🛐✊😔 But seriously, BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I don't know what else to say because there are no words in english or in my first language to express mt feelings about this cover, but thank you so much for this new breathtaking masterpiece. Now I have a new song of yours to listen to for a looong time 💖
I imagine this being the ending number in this adaptation, when they choose each other. That "anywhere you go, let me go to" at the end annihilated me, I was crying real tears. I love this song in it's original form but you can feel the love absolutely radiating from your version! Honestly I didn't even notice the lyric changes because they felt so right? It's known I already adore your voice but I want to take a moment to highlight how much Lacey's voice had strengthened since your first collaboration, amazing! Also that art is stunning, Lacey's Christine looks like a real life angel, I can't get over how beautiful everything about this is! You have some kind of magical power that just evokes EMOTION in everyone who experiences your creations. 💕💕💕💕💕s to you both!

I love the progression of this series, how it’s strayed further and further from the original and has really taken on a life of its own. If this really is the last part, I’m glad it ended on such a high note. However, I will appreciate any other tracks, if you decide to, especially Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again and Angel of Music/The Mirror. These covers have given me life and renewed my love of Phantom, a cycle which begins every couple of months to years. Thank you all for your dedication!

I’ve been listening to your Phantom of the Opera covers without actually having seen the musical. I’ve just finished the film and now crying over the lyrics. I wasn’t expecting it to be a tragedy, hence the ending broke me. The music and lyrics hits very very different now, both of your voices are hauntingly beautiful.

I am kneeling on the floor, please. You two are killing me, I am dying (lovingly). Both of your voices are so majestic and are so perfect together and honestly? Raf your alto range is goals and I am crying my gay tears- 💕

I agree with u sm omg
@@RafScrap You are truly a beautiful opera singer, Raf
I feel like people don't give enough attention to that
"Save me, lead me from my solitude."
I could listen to that single sentence over and over again,
I'm way too gay for this.
Brava!
Your support means a lot, thanks for taking the time to write a comment. Happy to have done your fav justice ♥
@@RafScrap I appreciate the work you put into these! Have a good day! As always, keep 'er goin'!
It is totally 💯% on point.)
Frankly, I just want to thank RafScrap and Lacey for doing all you do.
@@RafScrap I’m so incredibly glad you got to read my comment. Just so you know, I was less concerned with you responding, as I know you must be incredibly busy, and more concerned with catching the timeframe in which you would be reading the comments on the thread. Though I love that you responded back to me and that I know my comment did mean a great deal to you, I really just want you guys to know that your work is so greatly valued beyond just the beautiful music you put out. I just wanted to make sure you got the chance to read and fully understand that, whether you ever responded back to me or not.
lol only thing I can beg of you guys is to Start a Patron account and put your stuff onto Spotify so we can put your music into our Playlists!! 😁😋
But RafScrap! My marriage! You can't keep doing this to me! 😭🤣
Seriously though. This is gorgeous. Amazing work. Love it. You both have BEAUTIFUL voices and they blend together wonderfully.
It seems I've unwittingly become a homewrecker.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, always gives me a huge serotonin boost
🤣 I'm just glad the super dramatic nonsense isn't too weird. Giving people serotonin boosts is my favorite thing to do! 🥳
The darkness is not always to be feared...Beautiful as always. Again, I could wish a happier ending where Christine and Erika run off into the night away from those who would destroy their love. And here, my sapphic succubus heart is happy once more with a wonderful rendition of the Music of the Night...
"Angel, grant to me your glory" is gorgeous
This is a romance I craved when I was blind to the cruelty of the world. It’s terribly tender and sweet. This rendition of All I Ask Of You is perfection.
One of the things I love from your covers is how full of emotion they are. I never thought I would hear something like this. You two are our angels of music. I wonder how a female version of "El tango de Roxanne" from Moulin Rouge would sound like 🖤
OMGG YESSS THAT WOULD BEEN AMAZING
Also Elephant Love Medley
How dare you ,now I want the whole moulin rouge cover collections!
crying, screaming, the way you sing the line at 2:19 has me weak!! the emotion in that one phrase is immense
Real heartbreaking line, that one. Glad you enjoyed my rendition, thank you
It's almost as if the Phantom asks Christine, "Please, before you go, \if you must go\, sing for me, this one last time."
Amazing job!!
Y'all have so much talent, and AYYY WE GETTING THESE LYRICS IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX, WHOOP WHOOP!!
Thank you for your support throughout the series Lil, it means a lot

These new lyrics are beautiful, and the art helps set the atmosphere.
I feel like in this version, Christine stays with the phantom, and I am HERE FOR IT.
THOSE LAYERS OF HARMONIES AND ADLIBS WOWOWOW MY WIG SNATCHED HARD AGAIN!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Hello again, happy to see you around. Had a lot of fun writing this version, hope you enjoyed ♡
As some one who has loved phantom of the opera for a very long time, I have to say that this version is hands down one of the absolute best I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Bravo 👏
The passion and love here is enchanting.
Lovely word choice, thank you very much
"Do you fear the light as I fear you?
Are you afraid I'll leave you too?"
She's insinuating that Phantom is afraid of the light stealing her away.
Therefore, she fears her in the way that she'll disappear once more, without a trace.
Subtle, yet sublime, expertly conveying Christine's fears and feelings toward Erika.
Oh, my heart! I love how their roles feel like they've switched--Christine feels more confident, the Phantom more vulnerable--and it's so moving! ❤
Those low notes, the art, the harmonies are all so beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous, thanks for sharing!
Absolutely my pleasure, lovely seeing you here again
Okay but I just have to say these covers have meant such a great deal to me, truly, I have cried listening to each of these....
As a teen I listened to POTO obsessively and went as the Phantom for Halloween every year, the story meant so much to me as a baby lesbian immigrant outcast from my community and bullied into hiding for being so different. NEVER would I have expected to hear a wlw POTO cover.... I grew up having no representation I would have NEVER expected the internet would provide a creative space for something that so specifically hits
I know I'm an internet stranger and these are just random words on a screen, I really wish I could stress how sincerely close to my heart these beautiful covers have been.
But I cannot thank you enough for these, for taking the time to express your talents and sharing them with those who needed yours and Laceys voice.
Also legally obligated to say "sorry for my english, its not my first" don't know how to use it to spill my heart yet but i tried
Next , can you do "The mirror"?
As usual, an amazing cover
oo I started to think they do the hole phantom of the opera songs
Will definitely consider it. Glad you enjoyed ♡
Oh that's a brilliant idea, the mirror is my favourite song!
I can hardly imagine what wondrous version these two would craft from it.
So....when are we getting a full movie of this? Cause uh, the way you two do the songs where it sounds like Christine and Erik [Erika] are a thing instead of her and Raoul.
Uuuup 💙💙
They end up that way in the sequel musical.
@@jackster9775 more or less... I mean, Christine... daa-ied.

Enjoyed writing the lyrics, happy you enjoyed! Will definitely consider more Overlord content in the future Captain. Thanks for watching
@@RafScrap thankyou for your response.
“Do you love me?”
“You know I do.”
I really love that part.
3:48 THIS PART GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS THEY SING SO GOOD 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I am.... So. Happy. That this series exists, omg.
WHY ARE ALL OF THESE ILLUSTRATIONS ALWAYS SO GLORIOUS
Phantom of the Opera is my comfort place, and usually I don't like covers of it, but this....... this is not only your own creativity, it's special to you too. The way the two of you sang, noy only sang of love, but betrayal too and heartbreak was the tune to which it came. This brought me to tears, thank you for brining one of my most special dreams into reality, unspoken Phantom.
Your note at 3:35 is absolutely incredible. This whole series is awesome.
"As day dissolves to darkness, as fear can turn to love."
Oh, God how that line makes me SWOON!
Господи, это прекрасно. У меня слезы на глаза наворачиваются...
Как старый дисней - прекрасен и волшебен💫
Oh my god... i'm speechless, but i'll try to express my feelings in mere superfluous words.
First of all, how can you two be so talented???????? I'm shocked at how the lyrics of the song were rewritten - and OH MY GOD, it matched SO MUCH with the Phantom singing the song with Christine!!! It gave even greater depth to their relationship, as it shows a delicate, passionate and purer side of the Phantom, who just wants to love Christine.
Were you the one who rewrote the lyrics? It's perfect, i am in love with this new version 💖
And all this combined so perfectly with the art!!! When the image appeared I gasped and was breathless because IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL, DELICATE AND TRANSMITS SO MANY EMOTIONS!!! The highlights and shadows are beautiful, and I loved the Phantom's hair so much! And also the way the Phantom is holding Christine is so soft and delicade... is too much for my gay heart 🤧
I really love your drawing style.
That's all I ask of you 🛐✊😔
But seriously, BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I don't know what else to say because there are no words in english or in my first language to express mt feelings about this cover, but thank you so much for this new breathtaking masterpiece. Now I have a new song of yours to listen to for a looong time 💖
Oooh A female version of Phantom?
I’m all for it.
I once called people who wanted Christine and the phantom to be a thing stupid.
I am eating my words rn. This is a literal masterpiece!!!

One of mine as well. Beautifully written.
@@RafScrap I have to admit you did a just an amazing job at doing a cover for this song
If you didn't know, there was actually one more song in the series. It's not well noticed because the song appears on Lacey's channel. It's "Think of Me"
I’ve been listening to your Phantom of the Opera covers without actually having seen the musical. I’ve just finished the film and now crying over the lyrics. I wasn’t expecting it to be a tragedy, hence the ending broke me. The music and lyrics hits very very different now, both of your voices are hauntingly beautiful.
This is literally the tale of Persephone and Hades in a song...
I love it on a personal level
Happy that the RUclips algorithm did good this time and took me to a gem 😊
Amazing work
For 33 years I have been waiting and searching for a song such as this. And now at long last... you have pulled it from the heart and gave it life! There is no way in all the world that I could ever express what this glorious song means to me. Thank you. I can finally stop searching...
