My pipe dream if Steel Curtain were a flop and were to be removed would be a Mack hyper. Yes, I know Hyperia has had its hiccups, but Mack has an almost clean reliability history besides that one outlier. I think something like DC Rivals with some inversions sprinkled in would be a worthy successor.
@@TravisBeaves if they converted pavilion 17 into the station and have the lift hill follow the tracks out past the river rapids and then do the majority of its course in around the ravine and Pr turnaround and then head back that it’d work. Or go the opposite way out and around to the ravine behind racer and back. Or relocate the building in between Racer/JR and use that area and hillside for a stc
I don’t think that there will be a new coaster soon with palace looking into selling the park. If they were to get a new coaster I think that the Vekoma STC model would be the best option
.......😊kennywood does not need a NEW coaster; - they need to reconfigure the racer/thunderbolt to their origional track layouts. In the case of the racer: replace the two double down sections after the first loop over the station house and, similarly implement the same to the final drop underneath the second loop approaching the brake run/station house. .. in case of thunderbolt, simply eliminate the check breaks (not necessary) and restore the origional banked speed bump.[ second/ inside helix] . .... as the pittsburgh press reported in 1968. - " it drops like a thunderbolt!"
Would rather see a Vekoma STC than a B&M Invert, still fairly reliable both model and manufacturer-wise, but different from the bog-standard B&M invert. Otherwise, I think a B&M Surf Coaster would be good. Alternatively, a Vekoma or B&M family coaster launch coaster, or a Vekoma Family Boomerang would be great.
Kennywood has such an inconsistent history of additions that it's super hard to guess their next addition. And it's not like they'll pick something merely because of a gap in their lineup. They aren't nearly that predictable. I think anything off the track would make sense so a B&M makes sense like you pointed out. And I agree that a hypercoaster wouldn't be a worthwhile investment. I'd love a heavily terrain based flyer or invert, especially if they added a tunnel or trench at some point.
It would be cool to see a Cobra’s Curse like spinning steel coaster at Kennywood. It follows the family friendly trend, it’s rare & different, and it has the potential for a small footprint.
What i think Kennywood needs is very dependant on where its going. If they want to build a new coaster in lost kennywood and the valley I think it really needs to be an inverted coaster, surf coaster, or a vekoma STC. If they want to add a coaster to the midway it would either have to be something low intensity or super compact as we have learned from rmc that a lot of the soil in that area is too unstable for a big project. I could definitely see a new area of the park start to develop in that area with coasters such as a family inverted that wouldn't need the super heavy supports of other rides. Gerstlauer and zamperla coasters could also be built in the area because their small footprint would allow for foundation to supplement weak terrain. My last proposal is probably the most controversial, RMC Thunderbolt. The Pippin is 100 years old, the current Thunderbolt is over 55 itself and the trains over 65. The coaster is super rough and offers less thrills than some of the other rides at the park. It is awesome as a landmark but the potential to add inversions to the roundabout by potato patch, add 20-30 feet to the drop into the valley, and a thousand feet of new track could truly take it back into the spotlight.
I hope they get a new coaster soon, I do hope whatever they get has a better reliability, but with that said I don’t think curtain is as bad as most think. My personal dream is to see a large scale Ground Up RMC of some type at the park, but I would be fine with most additions but I want a big thrilling addition
If things don't work out for Steel Curtains, They should add a Terrainean Elevated Lift Coaster like Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, to take it's place, but they need to get landscapers to cover up the slope with a gigantic rock or Paver wall all around it to control the erosions That's what they where made for when they're first invented. They can be built across a hillside to slow down water runoff and prevent it from pooling. Terraces can be made from concrete blocks or wood, depending on the slope grade and budget. The more complex the slope, the more complex the terrace wall needs to be.
As soon as you started talking about B&M I thought of the surf coaster. I love Pipeline and I think it would be a big hit. It is unique and not too extreme for families. As you said, it would only be the second one in the world .
Kennywood is also my home park. I agree, if they were to build a B&M launched stand up...that would be awesome. I'm sure they could get creative on the layout and how to make it work. Unpopular opinion I'm sure, but I think if Kennywood would be so bold to call up RMC and have them redo Thunderbolt...I could only Imagine how they could design elements that would interact with Phantom's Revenge. Keep Jack Rabbit and The Racers as their legacy, and turn Thunderbolt into a wild machine.
I would design a new and regular Hyper Coaster for Kennywood if there's a coaster manufacturer that's getting into the Hyper business. Kennywood should get a Zierer elevator lift Terrain coaster.
I love your opinion but i feel like the best thing kennywood could go for is a b&m invert. Theres no floor less coasters at kennywood and i think it would be a very good addition. your take is great tho
If I were Kennywood I woukd go with Vekoma over B&M. Which brings me to my next point merging with yours, a flying coaster by Vekoma. Imagine something like F.L.Y. at kennywood with some theme and the terrain to play with. Would be unique and a huge hit
NO way Parques Reuindos invests in a B&M. I think we might be looking at Vekoma- if we are lucky. Perhaps 2nd gen flyer. However, there was a lot of progress made on creating the RMC in the valley behind racer. If I were to bet, that would be their next coaster. The only reason that they didn't go forward was that the permitting was taking too long. But much of the preliminary work was already in place for that. I know RMC has shied away from their Topper, but I think this unique of a wooden coaster with inversions would be the perfect fit for Kennywood, with an already great collection of classic woodies.
KW is my home park as well. Steel Curtain not being in the lineup this year definitely leaves a rain cloud on my visits. I hope its reliable in 2025, cant say im optimistic about that though. TBH I dont want a B&M in KW. I like that Kennywood has unique or one of a kind rides. It seems parks are littered with B&M's. I would be ok with a vekoma SLC or Gerstlauer Invert though. However, the stand up would be on as thwre isn't many out there.
Definitely kennywood needs a reliable coaster i also think that it is a travesty that steel curtain is down i've been looking forward to writing it when i go in august. as an idea for a new coaster it's difficult for me to say because there are many options that they can go with but i think a good family coaster could fit right in.
Another manufacture I could possibly see is Vekoma and if they do then one of their Suspected Thrill Coaster (it’s there version of B&M invert) or a new generation flying coaster from Vekoma
could you imagine the next Flying Dinosaur USJ at Kennywood? If they can manage to pull a Tatsu or something else with the terrain as well it could be one of the best USA 1-2 punches w/ PR even if Curtain does get torn down Another surf coaster would be cool too to a lesser degree but USA FD guys...
I would really like to see an Inverted Gerstlauer Infinity coaster with a launch. They need a better launch coaster and they don't have a coaster that hangs under the track. Budget friendly and I believe their parent company likes to work with Gerstlauer.
RMC Hybrid I-Box built from the ground up would probably be the best if you like that style, if not a Raptor would be cool. Either way RMC makes a dependable product.
Honestly, Kennywood is my home park to. However I honestly prefer inversions over airtime, especially hang time so it’s basically upside down airtime 😂 anyways, I honestly am EXTREMELY hoping to see Kennywood invest into a new THRILL SEEKER coaster again, not just a family one. Honestly, I’d do anything for a ground up RMC with inversions and airtime especially into the phantom and thunderbolt areas… or even better IMO, I’d be obsessed if Kennywood were to put an extreme spinning coaster there that spins, goes upside down and has airtime, and maybe even a launch or two. Of course that’d be a dream come true, but we’ll have to wait and see what Kennywood does next. I really hope they don’t invest in a family ride again, but instead a full on extreme thrill ride. Sorry for the paragraph, this is just how I feel and what I am EXTREMELY hoping for within the next few years in Kennywood 😂😂
We need an invert of some kind, the B&M invert fanboy in me wants them to demolish Steel Curtain and get a massive invert. Or even a Vekoma STC, but we need something below the track
could you imagine a giga coaster it would the the first in pa and they can make it go down the hill i think a 300ft roller coaster would be sick they lack something with a big steep long drop or a rmc. they need something intense i feel like sky rocket is more of a family coaster then anything. they need something that would seem imposable too fit in the park but make it possible i feel they are lacking on a big coaster. yes they got steel and phantom but that's really it as in Hight all the other coasters are simple and small and when both roller coasters are down its seems to be a dry day or one last option would be something that's really fast
After fixing steel curtain, Kennywood won't get another big coaster for at least 5 yrs. They will milk the "new" and improved steel curtain for the next 2-3 yrs. Then they will announce a new coaster, which will take 2 yrs to build.
Before they add a new roller coaster, I would rather see them add a new flat ride or two, like a new drop tower to offer the same hillside views that Pitfall used to provide, and a star flyer for similar but more panoramic views.
I would 100 percent call phantom the star attraction and so would almost anyone. Also band m is being sued by Vekoma for there new stand up coaster so we won’t be seeing one for awhile.

I'm going to Kennywood on August 13th 2024 ! I'm super excited about it. It will be my 2nd time ever at Kennywood !!
Its my home park and i love it, its got amazing charm plus a few great coasters
Make sure you get Potatoe Patch 🍟 👍🖤💛✌️
I'm 2 minutes away from kennywood
Awww I hope you had a fun time!
I’d love for them to go with Vekoma and put a stc in the land back behind aero 360.
Same maybe their flying coaster (one of them would do great)
Id love that but i dont think they want to mess around back there because of kiddie land and the dropoff into the river
@@TravisBeaves maybe some where else in the park because that would be a good fit
@@coasterfair2602 they dont have much land other than the parking lot but they could try to squeeze somthing in
@@TravisBeaves if they converted pavilion 17 into the station and have the lift hill follow the tracks out past the river rapids and then do the majority of its course in around the ravine and Pr turnaround and then head back that it’d work. Greatly appreciate these KW videos as a fellow yinzer

A Surf Coaster with Action Sports theming named Snake Run would be sick. Make it a homage to Woodward which is also in PA.

I would design for them a new hyper coaster if they'll purchase more land

Steel curtain contains 82% of the park’s roller coaster inversions. An inverted or other typical looping model could still be very helpful.
I would design a new and regular Hyper Coaster for Kennywood if there's a coaster manufacturer that's getting into the Hyper business. Kennywood should get a Zierer elevator lift Terrain coaster.
They should build a Vekoma STC and incorporate it with the raging rapids terrain and the back of the over by the train area
Ive been saying this for centuries now, the park needs a rmc! I was hoping for one before they even announced *STEEL FAILURE* rmc's are my favorite
