Had this issue for over a month now. Started as video skipping a few seconds forwards without a cause, or just the video stopping and audio going. Now it just randomly stops buffering after 20 second intervals. Tried the nightly fix and it finally works again. I'm impatiently waiting for it to be released to the stable branch. We all know they targeted firefox first with deliberately slowing down video loading, before they started to target adblock users. Google really wishes to have monopoly.
I've been having a _LOT_ of random freezing (audio still playing but image is frozen), buffering (even though the buffer bar is way ahead), and other stuff like delayed input and choppy video in the last couple months. I switched UserAgent to Chrome and suddenly every single issue I had was gone. It even defaults to 1440p when available.

Version 133.0.3 here. Video pages partially load, then stall indefinitely. It doesn't seem all that long ago since I started experiencing this. Maybe less than a month.
@@pedroferrr1412 I often find it fixed after a period of not using the site. Maybe they set a bandwidth cap per IP address or browser fingerprint. Others suggested/shown improvement after disabling plugins that block ads. I'm going to give this site its own container tab without, or with minimal, blockages to see the result.
This reminds me of the browser wars in the 90s. I have experienced many video buffering problems lately on YT, and I guessed that Google was messing with Firefox, but I didn't have proof. Now I do.
Starting yesterday, RUclips has been serving me groups of ads with a total runtime over 50 seconds before skipping is available. I'm primarily viewing it on a Chinese- made smart TV through its native RUclips app. I'm logged in to RUclips with an account that's over 15 years old.
Forget slowing playback down, they're slowing _everything_ down. I go to type a comment, it takes 5 seconds for text to show up. I'm able to type but then the cursor stops and I can't see anything I'm typing and then 5 seconds later, everything shows up. Same for when I hover my mouse over a video thumbnail, it takes 5 seconds for the preview to play and also when I click on the video I'm currently watching to pause it, it takes up to 5 seconds on average for it to respond - and that includes the little square down in the bottom right corner that maximizes and minimizes the viewing window.
try using a user agent changer to chrome it might help im trying it now i cant stand this is there an extension for yt-dlp on firefo so i dont have to concsatly download them lol
Had this issue for years. It didn't matter if I was on Windows or a Linux Distro. Glad that this issue became a widespread thing that a fix is a thing now.
VP9 codec? For a couple of days, it took almost a minute to even load a youtube page on a new tab. I deleted about 800mb youtube cache ( WTF?! ), which sped it up, but the problem did not disappear totally. 1-2 days before maybe firefox had some patch, because now I don't experience this issue.
I had a buffering problem last weekend. Took me 6 hours to fix it. Comments being censored on YT so won't post fix here. Maybe on Mozilla support this weekend.
Google is known to A/B test these kinds of things. Basically only some people will get the change, and others will still get the previous version. This sort of A/B testing isn’t malicious in itself, but remember that Google removed “don’t be evil” a while ago. So if Google just happens to break something for some people in a way that it looks random, and just happens to screw up other browsers, and then they come back and say “oops, just a mistake everyone” but the damage is already done… and if that’s happened multiple times… think about it.
I have been having a lot of issues with RUclips lately on edge. I am using an adblocker. The playback in Edge is stuttering during playback and buffering regularly on a 50Mb/s internet connection. The adblocker watches the ad and restarts the video but you can scroll the page like you're holding the up arrow on the scroll bar. To fix it I must refresh the page and wait 15 seconds for it to settle. If I try to enter a comment at this point the video changes to a picture in the picture of the video playing. I then have to expand the video, refresh the page, and wait 20 seconds for it to stabilize. After that, I can make comments only if I stop the video playing. I also have problems with the spellcheck pop-up. It tries to pop up below the text I have to scroll the pop-up to see the correction. hWat I have to do is move the comments window down so the highlighted correction is in a position to force the pop-up correction window to be above the text. Then the corrected word is viewable without scrolling. This correction issue has been ongoing for four years. It might be due to interference from Grammarly but I can't tell.
Mine started last week. kept crashing tabs and makes it lag when i type or click stuff. Some stuff wont open for 3 min or wont open at all. Just typing out this comment i typed about 10 words before it caught up. I checked the firefox process manager and its spiking my cpu usage to 100% over and over only on RUclips tabs.
I strongly suspect The issue is due to need to pause the video to insert advertisements . Previously based on the video length there may have been automatic set points where a pause command could be inserted to allow adverts to be played . I’m guessing that this method was removed and replaced with an on the fly insert any time anywhere any number of adverts model. So when a video is played it is constantly preparing to pause for an advert which can get messy. The problem is not just on Firefox it also occurs with the RUclips app on various devices like the Apple TV.
Yeah some videos will just stop loading randomly and i have to skip anywhere from a few frames to several seconds before it continues loading (the part that stops loading never does)
My pc has Windows 11, and Firefox is wonky every time I use RUclips. I have Zorin OS on my laptop, and Firefox works just fine when I'm on RUclips without any issues. It's been that way for the last few months.
theater mode is gone here. I have to reload any video, this one did it by itself. then it starts but I hear the audio 2 times with a delay. I pause, I keep hearing but not seeing the video. a friend said use brave, that works fine.
So far I seem to only have this issue with live stream videos on RUclips where either playback randomly stops and endlessly buffers or the picture freezes with the sound still playing. Regular RUclips videos generally play fine for me in Firefox. I look forward to the stable Firefox branch with this fix as I only use Chrome to watch RUclips live streams.
I've been struggling with this issue for months now but I always suspected it was Google being up to their usual dirty tricks. After all, there's a reason they changed their motto from "Don't be evil" to "Do the right thing". Do the right thing to whom? Not their users, that's for sure.
I have the latest version, and my laptop powers down (like sleeping) when watching yt videos on ff. Started after youtube tried to force users to stop using ad blockers. Usually a reboot fixes it for a while. Occasionally I search event viewer, but haven't come to any conclusions. I use 2-3 different browsers simultaneously, and issue is triggered while on yt on ff.
The only issue in FF i've had with YT is the video during playback would randomly flash pink but usually 1-2 minutes into the video the most. Been happening at least the last couple of months now. Troubleshooting suggestions mentioned turning off hardware acceleration, but the problem with that is it hurts performance and also can introduce screen tearing in the browser.
The weird part is, that i never had any real issues on youtube with firefox. Mabe once every 50 videos wouldn't immediately play but then a page refresh would solve this and everything worked again. I'm not trying to dismiss anybodys experiences but I wonder why I basically never have any issues on firefox.
RUclips is at a crawl for me at the moment. The pages load like a slow automatic window blind and the sidebar is absent. I'm actually working on an offline project, so I guess RUclips being for all intents and purposes "not working" is the impetus I need to buckle down.
Serving content with slight intentional deviations from standard specs while stealthily adding support for handling those on Chrome to break things on other browsers is very in-character for Google these days.
