- The St. Elsewhere scene in which Warren Coolidge (Byron Stewart) encounters his old Carver High teammate from The White Shadow, Salami (Timothy Van Patten). Van Patten is playing an entirely different character in St. Elsewhere and doesn't recognize Coolidge.

OMG! I laughed so hard when I saw this way back when! I'm watching a marathon of "White Shadow" right now!
2024 Easter time - I'm bingeing on White Shadow now. I have not seen it since it first released and I've never seen St. Elsewhere - this was a great moment!
Coolidge was a regular on ST ELSEWHERE. In one episode, he explained to Luther that he blew out his knee and couldn't play basketball anymore.
Every time I see Joel Embiid, he ALWAYS reminds me of Coolidge for some reason.
I loved both shows and remember watching this episode! I also yelled out Hey Salami!
Loved the cameo between the two from White Shadow.
Coolidge was a recurring character
Oh Yeah! I remember that scene. I still view it as one of the classic scenes in television. LOL Two shows I really enjoyed watching.
Decades TV(showing a White Shadow marathon this weekend) brought me here.
Wow, I watched both shows and never caught this.
Two classic old school shows, White Shadow and St. Elsewhere.
The cat went from bouncing a basketball to wearing surgical scrubs.
@@vccstudents That was a different cat that dribbled a ball.
@@cbsteffen Yes, I know. Thank you.
I think this maybe the 1st cross over I ever saw back then and it made me laugh so hard ... thanks for posting it
Mr. Carlin from THE BOB NEWHART SHOW ended up in ST. ELSEWHERE's psych ward.
Crossovers are cool.
This was great
Love King Cool!
Cool & Salami!
hahaha, this is great, i never seen this before
Does anyone else remember the episode where some guy thought he was Mary Richards from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, and in another storyline, Betty White was guest starring as some military officer. At one point, the mental patient sees Betty White, and start shouting, “Sue Ann Nivens! The Happy Homemaker!”
Too funny.
Yes, that was another classic St. Elsewhere moment.
It gets better...the mental patient (known as "John Doe #6") was played by Oliver Clark, who played Mister Herd on The Bob Newhart Show, which was also an MTM Production.
The White Shadow is also one of the TV shows playing in the psych ward. I'm binge watching St. Elsewhere now and didn't realize the cleverness of the writers.
Coach Reeves sure failed Coolidge, if his best player became a janitor. A better crossover would have been for Coach Reeves to be in Boston and his knee goes out, and he needs it replaced, then he finds himself at St. Elsewhere, and discovers his orthopedic surgeon is Warren Coolidge. Then during a bedside scene, Cool discusses how he took his basketball scholarship to a smaller school and while in college, he remembered being nearly suckered once in high school for fools gold, so during college goes into pre-med, then med school. Once Dr. Coolidge leaves, Ken then remembers Jim Willis' words about "floating on air, when he meets one of these hard nose cases, who is a lawyer, doctor, etc".. Then he turns to the patient next to him and says, "he's like a son to me".
Coolidge was a recurring character on St. Elsewhere. He told Luther he blew out his knee.
There's a season 3 White Shadow where Coolidge wants to drop out and join the Globetrotters.....Miss Buchanan is speaking to him about it and mentions something about without good grades some players end up as janitors......Ironic watching this scene.
Coolidge failed Coolidge.....he never really took Reeves or Sybil's advice to heart.
The one that becomes a doctor or lawyer is Heyward. Last episode of show he gets summer job at a law firm..
I remember this episode Salami played Coolidge....Lmaooooo
In real life, one of the White Shadow players died at a fairly young age. Forget which one. When that happened, I thought they should have done a White Shadow reunion show based on all the players coming back for his death.
Yeah, it was the actor that played Reese. His name was Nathan Cook. He was only in his middle 30's, and I think he died of a stomach/Intestinal problem.
@@richmiller8615 He was on the show called hotel. I believe he died while filming the show.
@@Lawomenshoops Cook died shortly after the "Hotel" hit series had gotten cancelled after five seasons.
Anyone know what every happened to Phil The Manager in real life? Very few pics of him on the internet.
Nathan Cook who played Reese past away at a young age.
Almost sheet my pants when this was on originally. I never saw it coming.
took me a min to process this when I watched it the first time as a kid lol
He's singing an adapted version of Ghostbusters
Was this the first time they ever did this on tv? I remember seeing this live and was totally blown away!
genius!!
Too funny!!🤣🤣
Coolidge is a Big Dude he’s like “6 “8
Salami is showing his true self in this episode. I remember listening to Jim Rome on his radio show before he was a made man. Rome was trying to get the cast of the White Shadow on some type of reunion on his show. He gotten hold of Salami and the brother with Glasses that payed point guard, separately. When Rome asked him about his former cast members, dude (Salami) straight played the same role in real life like you see in this script. Dude was like he didn't want nothing to do with his former cast members or that show. So sad.
Maybe he didn't want to be on Rome is Boring.
i wish metv would show this and take off diagnois murder
Be happy you got MeTV. The local affiliate that carried it around here in CT switched to the (God)damn Billy Graham Network!
They do now, every morning at 7 and 8.On METV plus.I watch it when I get home from work in the morning, along with episodes of "Family".
White shadow universe
Goldstein was cooler than Salami.
Too bad they couldn't get Ken Howard to appear as Reeves or the actress that played Buchanan.
how gangster would it have been if lee van cleef was beside mike.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was she-larious 😂😂
