The White Shadow really was one of the best TV series I ever watched. I was in my early teens when it was one, and I've been watching episodes of it online recently, too. It holds up well 40 years later. It is one of very few shows from the past that I will still watch for more than just nostalgia.
2024, I just began re-watching for the first time since to late '70s. I was 17 then - same age as most of the boys on the team. I confess, I thought they were so cute! Even though somewhat dated, the writing, acting, producing and directing all held up very well.
Never has there ever been a terrific actor like the late Ken Howard who brought the character of Ken Reeves to the TV series THE WHITE SHADOW with so much love and understanding. I have loved Ken ever since I was born 43 years ago and I still miss him to this day. I love you Coach I miss you
This has been wonderful, we watched it in Italy in the middle of the 80's, it has been bad to know that you coach are not here anymore. May you rest in peace 💕
Great show. Great topics, great actors. The planets aligned. There will never, ever be a Wonderful show like this show. Don't ever try to replicate this show!! I was like only 2 years old when that show came out. I remember my brother & sister watched it. So I caught up learning about that show in 1998. That year it was shown every morning like at 2 or 3am on this channel call TV Land
The dialogue in the first episode is as biting as anything you'll ever see on TV. Not for the sake of it, but because it was real dialogue, especially between Coach Reeves and Haywood at Haywood's house. MIght be the best first episode of any TV show. I was 7 when it hit the airwaves. I was hooked in a second. Good job, Alan.
It was heavy. It dealt with Racism, Interracial Dating, Prostitution, Gambling, and how some Ladies "Pimp" Student Athletes and leave them in the dust.

Wish they had done a reunion show before Ken Howard passed away. That would've been a script writers dream...and a dream for a fan of the show like me
