    As a bank angler, 80/20 applies to the amount of tackle I bring. 80% of the tackle I bring don’t even get used. The other 20% gets used often. I could downsize to that 20% and have a lighter backpack, BUT that good ol’ “What if I need…” keeps me from downsizing my backpack 🤣

    Great video. My confidence colors are green pumpkin - purple, or black - purple. But that being said if you’re in the right area like you said, not sure color matters. Other day was catching them on gp-purple, black - orange, red-gp. As long as the bait didn’t have a lot of movement it was gonna get bit. This caused me to rethink my soft plastics. Reorganized from no movement to lots of movement and only 2 baits in each category. Cut my tackle by a third.

    I set a goal every year for how many Bass I want to catch.
    This year it was 300. My goal was met way early and I have dedicated the rest of my year to master a technique. Now I'm not sure of how much mastering the technique of throwing a giant rat takes but that's the one I chose. I'm 26 fish into that now.
    I started by accumulating the things I needed like the right pole and real online and then moved on to my base selection. Once prepared I practice casting different ways until I got a good feel for how my equipment is going to react. After that on how to make the lure work.
    So far so good cuz I already know I'm fishing where the fish are.

      One cast per spot brother. In warmer weather a fast retrieve with varied pauses. Once fish are found fine tune further by fast retrieve 2 seconds then imidately after 1 second slow, very slow or moderate. Pause different time lengths. Gives lure an amazing realistic presentation. Also when varying fast moderate an slow try pulling lure right an left to give slightly erratic presentation. Fishing lures an soft plastics this way is awesome. I fish this way an a ton of reaction strikes. The second I feel a fish react to lure I'll pause an gently pop rod tip. Sometimes when you find the fish it's good to pause because if you cast back to area where the fish reacted may not be there more than likely. Trust me you do this you'll land some fish for sure

    Great video as always. I do agree that 80% of the bass are in 20% of the lake/river/pond areas and I do agree that 80% of the bass I get are caught on 20% of the lures I own but lure color, type and size do make a big difference. Some days, the fish like one type of lure or color and other days they won’t touch it and want something else so you do have to cycle thru lures at times. My go to lure has been the Yamamoto senko either 6 or 7” in green pumpkin. I have tried other colors and other worms but nothing works as well as Yamamoto senkos in green pumpkin. However, this is not true all the time. The other day, the bass wouldn’t really strike a senko but loved jerkbaits. I tried several colors and brands but only one consistently worked even in the same area. For me, that has been Megabass vision 110. The others just did not have the appeal even when the fish were biting like crazy. So I do think you have to cycle thru lures to see what the fish want. Of course, live bait will often trump artificials but that defeats the purpose at times. So while, 80% of the bass maybe caught on 20% of the lures, finding the right lure, color and size do make a difference 😉

    • @johnowens7435
      @johnowens7435 Год назад +1

      Tonight I went out with seven rods and lures. I threw a frog, a hula hopper, a 3/8 oz jig, a small 1/8 oz jig, and even my trusty 7” senko which I caught bass on at the same spot the day before but caught nothing. Not even a strike. Then I cast a vision 110 Jr jerkbait and got a strike but was not able to set the hook. I then took out my 3” Yamamoto green pumpkin ned rig and waited for the bass in the same place to pick up the ned rig. It finally did. Plain and simple, if I only brought a few lures and not my ned rig, I would not have caught a bass 😉

  • @joegrande4848
    @joegrande4848 Год назад

    Tyler when I fished fast then imidately slow for a short time after an varying my pauses an speeds has helped. Also what you taught us 1 cast per area. I've done this occasionally I'll just fish fast only as well I mix up my retrieve an pause presentation to see which way bass responds best. Thing I need to push myself more to do is 1 cast per spot an no more than 10 minutes once fish are found. The second bites die down relocate. Lures I don't have alot of confidence in I'm picking 2 lures an fish each lure for 3 months each lure to fine tune my skill an knowledge of the lure.

I'd assume you're not from California cuz our lakes fish just a little bit different for the most part. Other than that keep the videos coming man appreciate .

Most of my tournaments I catch all my fish on 2-3 lures. Sometimes just 1. If the fish would just let me know ahead of time what they're interested in, I could leave a lot at home.
