- Drop shot fishing is one of my go toe because you can catch big bass on it, a lot of bass on it, you can fish it shallow to deep and for all species of bass!

The thing about a drop shot is that it is a finesse technique so I really believe that the biggest mistake you can make with a drop shot it by working the bait too aggressively.
Now I am not saying that you won't get bit on a drop shot fishing it this way, but lot of times if the fish are active enough that they are going to hit the worm while it is aggressively worked, then they will probably hit other aggressive lures like a jig or texas rig.
I really believe that if you can slow down and just work the bait really slow. You will start catching a lot more bass on a drop shot!
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

Love your videos! I got tired of feeding my $15 crank baits to pike too. Bought a spool of that AFW knottable nylon coated wire. You can tie it direct to your line or leader or use a swivel. Easy to tie knots and it's very light and doesn't seem to affect the action of lures. No more pike stealing my junk. Now I just have to wrestle them and get my lure out of their mouth without getting bit. Best change I made this year!
Your fishing strategies and advice are so unmatched
Great vid..!
You know, with all that is happening around the fishing world, the cheaters.. the dirt bags.. Karens.. etc, etc.
You guys with all this RUclips audience and great learning content, could maybe team up and teach & share some ‘fishing etiquete’ in your channels so all new anglers and boat enthusiasts can learn these common sense guidelines.. I’m sure we can all have a better time out there while conserving our lake’s and fish health. Just a thought. 😅
Love the more fishing and sparse teaching! Not that I don’t like instructional but it’s nice to see the technique used for a longer period!
I Love how you get so excited catching the fish. I video myself and I get nuts too. Then I can’t stand how I sound lol
I have caught them on drop shot Margarita Mutilator. It’s my 2nd favorite to 6” Aaron’s Pro Shad in Roboworm. I fish very clear highland reservoirs and the Pro Shad is more realistic to bait fish.
Dude, your content is 💥. Really appreciate your down to earth approach. I've learned a lot from you, thanks for your hard work!
You make it look easy. Great video thank you for sharing 👍 You do a great job keep it up!!
If you’re not having fun fishing at some point you need to seriously change something. 👍🏻
Anytime I fish no matter what. Tournament fun fishing anything I'm having a blast.
@Jason Van Kirk definitely worth the time just for that few minutes of pure excitement
@Jason Van Kirk there ya go! Those experiences make us better the next time out!

Man I’m mad at that guy for you… but I know you handled much better the I might have. Love the content.
Best on water teaching/catching content on you tube RUclips
One thing I do with my drop shot that I notice will instigate bass to bite is- instead of twitching the rod, pinch the line with you index and thumb, pull down and let the line snap back. it will send a subtle vibration down to the bait and it will do a very subtle twitch/vibration. makes them bite sometimes, and you don't need to worry if you're over working the bait as much.
I'll be on lake Tangipahoa this weekend. Percy quin. I'm going to try some of these tips I've learned. I've been watching/ listening to your video the last 2 weeks or so since I discovered you.
Drop shot is not a technique I often use but really appreciate the video on the subtle methods used here. Great stuff as always
I would like to extend an invite for you to come to Eastern Washington and go bass fishing there are a few lakes around here that I believe you would be surprised on the size of smallies and large mouthed bass we have in our waters
Ty. when I saw the title I guessed right.I spent all Summer hammering them on the drop shot, basically all year come to think of it. BUT, for some reason, September and Fall clicked over and, they don't want the drop shot any more! WTH.The only thing my fish want now is the Ned Rig ( I use the Big TRD) on the bottom. I did employ your drag method and, you were right about the over working it. In the Spring they were so active, they hit my worm all day. But, as the Summer came around, I had to drag the worm to get bit. I'll never quit rigging up a rod with the drop shot, it's going to be a staple of mine every time I fish. I see you use a larger worm, I think you said 7". How do you get them to bite that? My fish want me to bite an inch off of a 4 3/4" Zoom Finesse worm!
Great vid!
Love to see you in my neck of the woods up here in Minnesota! Enjoy it, as we all do, minus the pike constantly breaking you off.
Great vid as always man! Key example of sometimes having to catch the smaller fish (which are still great) in order to get to the bigger fish. 🤙
Another awesome and informative video brother!! keep up the awesome content dude!!!
Sup Tyler, I love the dropshot lol, as always say, great video 👊. Ty tc
I was one of the 1st guys in Canada to drop shot, it gave me a huge advantage , I became one of the most successful tourney anglers , and sought after speaker , fun times , great technique 👏
Awesome content as always!
Glad to see a new video. Keep up the great content. OH
Great vid thank you
i try to do it the way you do and use the same things i guess i just dont have what it takes, i need to actually go out and fish with a professional like you. wish my dad was still around to go fishing with, never wanted to much when i was younger but now its too late.
Can you make a video on muddy or stained water? Especially around ohio. I live close to you and it seems like every body of water is shallow and dirty.
Great video.
Your back 🎉
While we don’t have like in my area, we do have chain pickerel. About two weeks ago on the drop shot, I threw it out and must have hit this beast in the face. When it took the bait, I thought a giant snapping turtle had it, it was so heavy and seemingly not moving. Then it went for 3 20-30 yard runs, dove under my canoe twice. Finally got it up top and my mistake was made. I tighten the drag and seconds later it decided to run again. That’s when I broke off. This pickerel was well over 30 inches, probably 36, and a total tank. I found out later that day, the nj state record was caught 65 years ago in my town on the lake next to mine(literally across the street) anyway I think this one possibly could be a contender. Been hunting it ever since
Tyler, thanks so much for all the information. I'm a novice bass angler and have learned a ton from watching your videos. I've been using Owner Mosquito Lite hooks #1 or #2 with a Keitech 3in Easy Shiner Minnow. I get a ton of bites but can't seem to hook the fish. Any suggestion on what I might be doing wrong?
Love your videos brother. What kinda camera do you use. Just curious I’m thinking about doing the same thing.
What size hook were you using? Thank for the videos Tyler,,
Great vid🙌 Please provide link to rod and reel!
What are the stats on your drop shot rod?
Are you using that Robo Rebarb hook? And if u are how do u like it and how does is compared to the owner cover shot? I don't know if you've ever used that hook? But I feel like the owner just hooks them better and penetrates better especially with light line!!
Roboworm's MMs got overused here in SoCal lake, switched to Baby Bass, Bold Bluegill and Baby Bluegill.
I have not invested much time in dropshot because I've heard that it's a clear water technique. What would you recommend for minimum water clarity? 3ft?
Where did you get your boat?
Psh that’s like 90% of az fishing. Have to use smaller hooks tho because they see those big hooks and take tail only. I’ve thrown at fish for half a day without a bite and every color speed depth spotting bass on fish finder. Gets tough when it’s 120 out and fish just sleep all day. But I will say all my 5+ come on drop shot and last weekend I caught a 12.97 drop shot at saguaro lake. Shoulda stuffed that one but if I keep it up I’ll get another one from there soon. Gosh shoulda kept that 13 tho. Grr
What hook are you using?
2:45 I hear a lot of drag..is that for dramatic effects or should u always set drag a bit lose?
What size reel is that ?
Did you hit Search and Destroy on your killer drone?
How far is a good distance from another boat?
The best distance is as far away as possible, and don't go encroaching someone's spot because you see them catching fish and you're not.
I think a lot of people don't realize how much movement is happening when you're on a boat. There's plenty of action happening without your input. Even from the bank, your hand is never perfectly steady.
True but there’s a reason why almost everyone shakes the bait when they are sight fishing a fish and I don’t mean on a bed I mean just visually seeing one…I get fish to commit shaking the bait dropshot or not than dead sticking
So you don’t twitch your bait at all to give it action?
i think he’s suggesting more of a yo-yo vertically in the water column as opposed to a non stop twitch that some guys do. cause if they’re hitting a nonstop twitch/retrieve why not throw a moving bait
Usually they hit it doing about anything unless it's extreme cold or hot
Margarita mutilator, or Marten’s madness? 🤔
Love your videos but I admire how you kept your cool when that boat damn near was able to hit your powerpole down buttons. No excuse to get that close to another boater. Maybe it's a Minnesota thing. If that happen on alum, he woulda got an earful
wassup
I have not caught one dam fish with a drop shot haha
Idk man, I’m pretty close. I kinda feel like I’m invading your personal space. Makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. 😂
Livescope is cheating. No different then having a corn feeder and a tree stand. No stalking or fair chase adventure “fishing or hunting “ with these two methods. The animals have no chance.
Don’t mention MN and Bass fishing. It’s just terrible for pike no one wants to come here!!! Just kidding 😂! Typical if you catch a fish in MN but it’s the best because they think your catching walleyes. Sometimes I use it as a game of how many boats can I lure into my location before they leave irritated.
Was that an Xzone slammer at the beginning? I invented those 👊
