  • Drop shot fishing is one of my go toe because you can catch big bass on it, a lot of bass on it, you can fish it shallow to deep and for all species of bass!

    The thing about a drop shot is that it is a finesse technique so I really believe that the biggest mistake you can make with a drop shot it by working the bait too aggressively.
    Now I am not saying that you won't get bit on a drop shot fishing it this way, but lot of times if the fish are active enough that they are going to hit the worm while it is aggressively worked, then they will probably hit other aggressive lures like a jig or texas rig.
    I really believe that if you can slow down and just work the bait really slow. You will start catching a lot more bass on a drop shot!
    BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

    Love your videos! I got tired of feeding my $15 crank baits to pike too. Bought a spool of that AFW knottable nylon coated wire. You can tie it direct to your line or leader or use a swivel. Easy to tie knots and it's very light and doesn't seem to affect the action of lures. No more pike stealing my junk. Now I just have to wrestle them and get my lure out of their mouth without getting bit. Best change I made this year!

    You know, with all that is happening around the fishing world, the cheaters.. the dirt bags.. Karens.. etc, etc.
    You guys with all this RUclips audience and great learning content, could maybe team up and teach & share some ‘fishing etiquete’ in your channels so all new anglers and boat enthusiasts can learn these common sense guidelines.. I’m sure we can all have a better time out there while conserving our lake’s and fish health. Just a thought. 😅

    I have caught them on drop shot Margarita Mutilator. It’s my 2nd favorite to 6” Aaron’s Pro Shad in Roboworm. I fish very clear highland reservoirs and the Pro Shad is more realistic to bait fish.

    One thing I do with my drop shot that I notice will instigate bass to bite is- instead of twitching the rod, pinch the line with you index and thumb, pull down and let the line snap back. it will send a subtle vibration down to the bait and it will do a very subtle twitch/vibration. makes them bite sometimes, and you don't need to worry if you're over working the bait as much.

    Ty. when I saw the title I guessed right.I spent all Summer hammering them on the drop shot, basically all year come to think of it. BUT, for some reason, September and Fall clicked over and, they don't want the drop shot any more! WTH.The only thing my fish want now is the Ned Rig ( I use the Big TRD) on the bottom. I did employ your drag method and, you were right about the over working it. In the Spring they were so active, they hit my worm all day. But, as the Summer came around, I had to drag the worm to get bit. I'll never quit rigging up a rod with the drop shot, it's going to be a staple of mine every time I fish. I see you use a larger worm, I think you said 7". How do you get them to bite that? My fish want me to bite an inch off of a 4 3/4" Zoom Finesse worm!

    While we don’t have like in my area, we do have chain pickerel. About two weeks ago on the drop shot, I threw it out and must have hit this beast in the face. When it took the bait, I thought a giant snapping turtle had it, it was so heavy and seemingly not moving. Then it went for 3 20-30 yard runs, dove under my canoe twice. Finally got it up top and my mistake was made. I tighten the drag and seconds later it decided to run again. That’s when I broke off. This pickerel was well over 30 inches, probably 36, and a total tank. I found out later that day, the nj state record was caught 65 years ago in my town on the lake next to mine(literally across the street) anyway I think this one possibly could be a contender. Been hunting it ever since

    Psh that’s like 90% of az fishing. Have to use smaller hooks tho because they see those big hooks and take tail only. I’ve thrown at fish for half a day without a bite and every color speed depth spotting bass on fish finder. Gets tough when it’s 120 out and fish just sleep all day. But I will say all my 5+ come on drop shot and last weekend I caught a 12.97 drop shot at saguaro lake. Shoulda stuffed that one but if I keep it up I’ll get another one from there soon. Gosh shoulda kept that 13 tho. Grr

    I think a lot of people don't realize how much movement is happening when you're on a boat. There's plenty of action happening without your input. Even from the bank, your hand is never perfectly steady.

    • @bennyventures8204
      @bennyventures8204 Год назад

      True but there’s a reason why almost everyone shakes the bait when they are sight fishing a fish and I don’t mean on a bed I mean just visually seeing one…I get fish to commit shaking the bait dropshot or not than dead sticking

  • @grandwonder5858

      i think he’s suggesting more of a yo-yo vertically in the water column as opposed to a non stop twitch that some guys do. cause if they’re hitting a nonstop twitch/retrieve why not throw a moving bait

    Don’t mention MN and Bass fishing. It’s just terrible for pike no one wants to come here!!! Just kidding 😂! Typical if you catch a fish in MN but it’s the best because they think your catching walleyes. Sometimes I use it as a game of how many boats can I lure into my location before they leave irritated.
