EMERGENCY LANDING: Threat level 3 at Spokane
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 июл 2023
- A 38-year-old man named Brandon Scott is accused of making a bomb threat on an Alaska Airlines flight bound for Seattle, resulting in its diversion to Spokane. Scott, originally from Kentucky, now faces charges of false information and hoaxes and is held in Spokane County Jail. He handed a note to a flight attendant claiming he had explosives in his carry-on and demanded the plane be rerouted. After landing in Spokane, no explosives were found. Scott admitted the threat was false, citing concerns of being targeted by a cartel upon arriving in Seattle. The court documents do not provide an explanation for his belief. If convicted, Scott could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

IMPORTANT:
The main purpose of this video is educational, i.e. to provide example situations for people who want to become pilots or air traffic controllers and to provide them with information. In addition, the aim here is to provide current pilots and air traffic controllers with access to radio conversations around the world so that they can think about how they should behave in situations they are likely to encounter in the future.
While preparing the content, I follow important aviation events and news from around the world. I check whether I can access the radio conversations by looking at the date and time zone of these events.
Then, I listen to the conversations over and over again to prepare subtitles and note down the relevant parts. Finally, I prepare an animation about the event and put it all together.

Pilots were so calm even though, in their minds, the aircraft could explode at any minute.
Actually, you (we) don't know what was going through their minds, even if your version seems quite possible and obvious. That pesky English language would be better served by "...If it were me, I'd be thinking the aircraft could explode any minute...".
Consider the famous question asked of potential pilots - "What would you do if your craft suffered an electrical failure and began descending uncontrollably, destined for a crash?"
The answer generally falls in one of two camps -
1) I'd pray, call my mommy, scream etc
or
2) I'd try and repair the electrical problem
I like to think that I'd do the best I could, or suddenly it's not my problem anymore, and there would be a lot to clean up
He would never had gotten a bomb past security. It would have instantly flashed.
@Cassie4486 Nothing is fool proof and since 9/11 they aren't taking chances.
That's how you make the Homeland Security No-Fly list 🤣
This pilot was on the ball! Even let them know about how many children and wheelchairs were on board! EXCELLENT work sir! You should be proud of your professionalism!
The pilots have nerves of steel. Well done
They had to park them on C4? A little on the nose for a bomb threat ain’t it?
😂😂
😀
🤦♂️
It’s situations like this when things handled so calmly that pilots deserve the big bucks they make.
Who told the pilots there was a bomb threat?
@brentbeacham9691 Probably one of the flight attendants told the pilots after the suspect had told them
@@brentbeacham9691it was a written bomb threat given to an FA.
Anyone who is a problem on a flight must be severely punished! The drunks to the hijack threats.
The flight deck was calm but what about the main cabin? Those poor passengers must have been extremely frightened.
My understanding is that the other passengers did not know the details.
From news articles, it was stated that the passengers were told that the plane had a mechanical issue.
They always say the calm voice of the capt makes them calm. How did the suspect tell the capt that he had a bomb?
@@brentbeacham9691read the text at the beginning
Delta actually has a direct to Atl out of Spokane.
Well that’s one way to get to Spokane without a connecting flight
Oh my god, SO TRUE!
Amen 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂FOR SURE!!!!at least they weren't landing at Yakima. They haven't seen a jet in a long time 😂(my hometown)
As long as it's not threat level midnight then they're fine
😅
You win.
Fantastic job of pilots! Staying calm, such a heavy workload of alternate destination, under such pressure.
Put that guy away for ever
I hope that guy doesn't like to fly because he won't ever be doing that again. Fool.
New subscriber. .....thanks for the great video.......!
Thank you dude, glad to see you 🙏☺
3:04 he says "ordnance", not overnight.
Sorry for the mistake 🙏

Only 5 years in prison? Usa is so weird
*Isn't the flight deck ALWAYS locked down these days?*
yes that's true, but under normal conditions, the pilot's could exit to use the lavatory etc., and the flight attendants could visit the flight deck... but during a lock down no one enters or leaves... it stays locked ...and will not be unlocked until the threat is resolved...
@@paulmurphy773 *OK Thanks for the distinction in its meaning.*
Last time I flew (November 2022), when the pilots stepped to the lavatory, the flight attendant stood behind a moveable barrier blocking access to the forward lavatory and, more importantly, the flight deck.
Some issues with the subtitle accuracy but good splicing of radio transmissions for brevity. This was also managed well in the background; dispatch and the NOC did a lot of coordination to have everything ready in GEG when they landed. I was there that night and even though most people don't know dispatchers exist, they have joint authority and responsibilities with the pilots for good reason: to manage situations like this where the information is limited for any given entity (pilots, ATC, ground crew, etc) and bring it all together to maintain a safe operation.
So, what does pilot tell the passengers the reason for diversion?
In the video link provided in the description, a woman says she heard an announcement about the plane landing due to a mechanical issue.
What a self inflicted destruction of whatever life he had.
These pilots are always so calm!!!!
1:43 should be "descend at pilot's discretion"
thanks for the correction 🙏
What a stupid way to earn himself years in prison and a lifetime on every watchlist imaginable.
Those aviators up front... man! Calm as the morning sea with a credible bomb threat. Wow. Just wow.
He probably had a very good reason for wanting to divert, the Seattle Cartel is known to be very dangerous.
There are better ways to avoid a cartel. If he wanted to just be arrested he could have walked into a police station with a knife and threatened someone. If he wanted to get to a federal prison pretty much the same. Not like they cant get to people in jail.
He could always….ya know….not board a flight headed to Seattle.
taxiway C4 ☠☠
Will this situation be considered as a 7500 or 7700?
Maybe the squawk code is not used in case the frequency is being listened to or tracking services are being monitored.
He did a reenactment of D.B COOPER
But he failed.
What's the reason for the gradual decent?
I understood that he was trying to indicate that he was in no hurry and wanted to make a normal descent.
Passengers should have to sign a form declaring they are not batshit crazy before boarding.
@AuschwitzSoccerRef. how in the fuck is that racist??
Right, because someone that was "batshit crazy" wouldn't happily sign such a form anyway.
@@r6u356une56ney What is a joke?
@AuschwitzSoccerRef. that's not racist he didn't say a race
Crazy people are the last ones to admit they are crazy . Usually the same with stupidity .
I guess they didn’t scramble any F-16’s out of Fairchild? Mcchord would be too far away…
They had other things. Work right next to airport and we noticed things and wondered what was going on. Will be letting co workers know.
They would do that for a potential hijacking or if there was some sort of clear threat to people on the ground. Not much they could do for an explosive on board.
Well the only reason I ask is because I saw a video of an Air France plane with the same situation and two -16's were escorting her. So I guess each situation is different.👍
I'm sure the pilots train for this, but all I can say is.....total pros!!!!
Perhaps Mr. Scott will get the privilege of having 3 squares a day and a bed for the next 25 years or so.
If the cartel threat is real he'll be dead on the inside long before then.
Governor Abbot will soon make explosives legal on ac.
Wow ppl
Pilots do not panic. They are trained and sharp enough to know that if they panic, all could be lost. ATC do not panic either. They all just want to get the plane back on the ground.
Ironic that they parked at C4. 😎
Nice job. Food for t thought, no need for cryptic comms with ATC. Be blunt and direct.
By that time ATC was probably advised by the flight's dispatcher what was going on.
Slowest talking pilot I've ever heard.
HOLYSHIT!
i never heard about this incident
Yeah I think I'm the first channel making video about this. You can google for the details or news.
I definitely heard about it all over our news since we're only about 2 hours south of Spokane. They theoretically could have landed it at our airport, it has Alaska Airlines flights in and out, though most likely more resources in Spokane.
@@htmlcc92 i live in Spokane, but rarely watch the news
But why Alaska Airlines... Any other airline would've been fine, but Alaska???
Send him to jails
You can see on the map a corrections center, right next to the airport. I don't think he had to go very far. HAHA!
ATC had to guess what the problem was... that is not good communications.
What happened to the Bomber? Got a Biden White House invite, then they are going to Disney together!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
There's a thing called post processing. It's not illegal.
COD?
Jesus Christ!!!
Yeah because theres a whole lot of cartels in seattle 🙄
The cartels are most definitely operating inside the US. You need to wake up buddy.
Guy was probably just lwr out on probation fro. Similar offenses, lineral justice system at work. Crime is down because we dont record anything
Who cares
And yet you watched it anyway.
