  • This patient had a Retinal Detachment in both eyes. His right eye suffered a Mac-Off Retinal Detachment, while his left eye had a Mac-On Retinal Detachment. After his Retinal Detachment repairs, he developed cataracts and needed them remove. How well can one see after Cataract Surgery if they've had a previous retinal detachment? It depends on multiple variables, but the most important factor is if the Macula was detached or attached at the time of the repair. Other variables include how long the retina was detached for, how well the repair was performed, and also whether or not the patient has other ocular comorbidities. I performed cataract surgery for this patient in both of his eyes. In this video, I'll show a surgical video and the patient will share his experience about how he is seeing after cataract surgery.

Dr Krad, I have high myopia -9.50 -10.00, a little astigmatism. Is it better to have lense implant with just monofocal , instead pan optic multifocal lenses? Because I am afraid I will have retina detachment later, then the multi focal lenses won’t help me see clear. Thank you for your informational video .

Do you have cataract? Iols is a must then. But if not and you just want to have glasses free , you probably should think carefully. The glasses will always turn darker or brown after a couple of months. White color on fabric, wall or most objects tend to be brownish yellow over time. The same with the iols, they will change color resulting in less bright over years. You can change new glasses to have bright vision but with iols it will be more complicated because you just can do it 2,3 times in your life.
