You’ve saved me so much money! I’d love to hear you talk more about you’re understanding of psychoacoustics...that’s what it’s all about and I need it more in my music!
About refund: there were really nice - I thought this product was for me, but I found it was really doing a bad job to detect the input, I spent some time trying to adjust the threshold... but each time the input volume of the audio changes, you have to readjust this threshold that does not show if it detects something or not. So basically unusable for me. But they were cool so I could "buy" another product. But this other one had issues as well, so I simply gave up and now simply avoid Rast... Clearly with demos: I would never have bought any product from them :)
It kinda insults me as a drummer (I think it started with the Roland R8) that adding randomness to a drumtrack is somehow called natural. No, natural means that the way a real drummer plays shapes the sound. For example: a fast hihat will very likely have a alternating pattern of two slightly different sounds because the wrist is doing a wipping motion. A fast doublestroke in the Bassdrum on a single BD kit the second stroke will be louder. because again the drummer has to do a wipping motion and play the first stroke with the toes and the second one will very likely be a heel down full foot stroke. program your drums like a real drummer would play it and it will sound more natural. We drummers are like almost real musicians we do not just randomize sh*t. (rant over)
Randomization is just a method of sounding like a real drummer to replicate the margin of error in which they play. I’m not sure how much you know about drum programming, but randomization has been used for YEARS, since the MPC era. This goes down to the programming level, randomization is just how it’s done. That has just been how to make things sound natural and it has been working. You could also map this to a machine learning algorithm but i doubt this is that adcanced. This thing kind of sucks compared to ableton anyway, so not exactly worth arguing over.
The plugin needs a look ahead buffer and an auto detect circuit to adjust the sensitivity so the effect doesn't drop out. It could be very useful if you ran the audio through it and commited it to audio. It looks almost ready to me but not quite there. Interesting concept.
I actually quite like this plugin and use it a lot. Just a great way to add subtle variation though I only use it on individual hits or synths with subtle settings
Alternatively one can automate some eq parameters or transient shaper etc. This one makes it faster and easier but I don't think it would be too much work manually either, if someone wants to save a bit money. At least Reaper is very flexible in that way
No demo no purchase on my end, starting to feel like most smaller plugin companies are starting to do this now. I like the idea of the plugin though. Great Video!
Hmm Then purchase options must have changed. Because I purchased it with PayPal. (by the way: I like the plugin and use it often. But not on every track.)

The Holland Law is also in Germany. In General: When there is no Demo, it must have a refund policy, cause an internetbuy is like an old "Door to Door Sale" with no professional guidance (about the product) like you would get in a store. For that, the (i guess) EU wide 14 Day refund rule does, technically, only matters in the internet, even most of the actual shop IRL give you this refund too. Samples and other "Sounds" are NOT in the 14 Day online refund period, you can think of them as consumer goods (like food or toilet paper^^^) and not equipment (what Software actually is) You're welcome ;-) p.s.: Read my email?
I have multiple credit cards (and Paypal as well) so I’m not sure why you’re claiming we don’t have that in Holland (= Netherlands). It’s not commonly used in restaurants and physical shops, but you can get one easily.
started watching your videos about a year ago. always wanted to dislike them but i love them. thanks for making them and i admire your integrity and independence.
If I understand correctly, this is solution only for "synthetic" audio loops? Recorded audio drums don't need it, MIDI drums can be edited by "randomizing" velocity in better way (separate for kick, snare, hi-hats and so on). In additional: no demo, no trial, no clear refund policy... It's not for me :)
Any bitwig user here ? I love more and more that everytime I see those kind of quality of life vst videos I say myself : "hey that's a nice idea, I could just do it myself with a few mouse clicks and save it as a preset."
Unfortunately this is an almost useless bullcrap, cos you can easily automate some crucial knobs (which cause effect on necessary parameter) by any type of shape controller (natively included in most of popular DAWs)
after briefly viewing this vet, I see the problem immediately im sure you've found out syncing issues, this plugin as of right now, cannot depend on other plugins to "keep it together" In order for this to work it needs to be processed through some kind of standalone where the buffering etc is controlled within itself. Till then its going to turn on and off, anytime a plugin has a perceptual effect of time on a plugin, which is the apparent fundamental nature of this one were watching, will have an audible sound difference being things like syncing and quantizing is not only heard but felt. :(
I use virtual instruments plugins and program everything by playing midi keyboard, then edit so nothing sounds not random, this plugin is the opposite of what I’m spending a lot of time doing
I wonder if it's host related. I bought this plugin a while back and like to use it on hihats. I've had good luck with it so far, but it's not for everything.
The swing feature should normally be a percentage. That’s how it normally works on a drumcomputer. If set to 0%, the tempo is robotic and deterministic, changing it to some amount will cause the tempo to drift based on some simple random seed value. I feel that a plugin like this would work a lot better on raw midi, but then it wouldn’t have a purpose since you could simply use a pad controller to record the drums and simply don’t quantise the midi. That’s how I do it. Sometimes the solution is so easy that a plugin is trying to solve a non-problem😁.
I like the concept for this plugin and I liked what it did. My concern is that it’s too organic and would have to commit it to audio or it’ll be slightly different each time, as I have this issue with some other plugins. I’m definitely seeing a space for this in lofi production and possibly in more HD stuff, I’ll have to try it out for myself to see if it’s creating any unwanted artefacts… this is from hearing a demo that already has reverb… might be fine if it’s before reverb in a chain… I’m guessing you don’t want to use it on real recorded drums lol. I’m thinking it might be a frequently used plugin if I get it for background percussion and maybe short notes melodies… maybe even with cinematic effect noises hoping it to make a effect sound a little more chilling… who knows… it grabbed my interest though
This is my problem with plugins like this, I love the concept, but I want something that'll be definite every time I play it back, I don't want to be hearing something different each time. I'd even argue you lose a lot of the convenience this plugin introduces, since if I use it, I need to flatten the audio, and if down the line I fancy editing something fundamental in the drums, I then need to go back to the original drum audio file before I put this effect on. Whereas if I had taken the time to do it manually, this would be less of a chore. Perhaps not as much of an issue for mixing engineers, but as a producer, I can see it being very frustrating.
you can dial it in so you little, that there it won't "damage" your signal or alter it too much. It' s very nice when used very little - once you bypass it, the original signal feel like stiff/static. try it, it's really good!
This is a very helpful comment! But just to understand 100%: you can't commit the naturalization once and for to a track, but it changes everytime? That's complete showstopper to me :(
