Geez, I first watched this video nearly three years ago. I've always been playing this song after learning it by ear from here. That was for the viola, however, now years later I'm here again to learn the chords :) Take care guys!
Thanks, Jon's instrument is a 17 1/4" viola. It was made by an Idaho builder in 1977, Dolly Daniels, wife of the late Sam Daniels, a famous builder in his own right. The Daniels shop was in Jerome, Idaho, near Twin Falls.
This is a very nice piece, one of the real classics of 1920's Swedish dance music. While your version is very nice, you might want to take a listen to a version closer to the original. The major difference is in the tempo and the "swing". Swedish waltz is a "one-step" waltz rather than the slower Germanic "three-step" and requires an appropriate tempo. Take a listen to the clip of "Lordagsvalsen" by Melodeonman52. Keep up the good work and enjoy.
Cool, thanks for this info, going to look into this. I played this in college as part of a Copland piece, the music everyone is familiar with from the U.S. beef commercials, “beef is what’s for dinner “
Hi, Gail, this is a nice old waltz, you will find a few fiddle tunes we posted about 4 years back by searching HillmanMike on RUclips. Its been viewed 9,544 times since we posted it, the internet is amazing, isn't it?
Love it! Thanks very much :) x

Great job; nice phrasing, noting and rhythm. Your violin has a soft tone, would you care to share the maker of it?
