It will be tough for Laura to convince you to send those on to the second hand market. Once those rust up it will be less valuable to send on. Maybe those really will become your gamers. We may have really found what’s in the bag for the next season 😂
James, there is no better feeling than being on the course , playing 18 holes inside 100 yards and having the guys behind you pull up and say " Dude , your short game is incredible "
Glad you’ve got some trusty rustys that you love, James. It’s horses for courses with the raw finish. I can’t stand the rust. But as is true with most things in golf, if you like what you’re looking down at and it gives you confidence, then that’s going to work for you. The actual performance differences among quality wedges are minuscule. Especially once you get to a lob wedge. They’re all going to spin and they’re all going to feel pretty soft, due to loft more than any materials used. So it just comes down to what fits the eye and finding the grind and bounce combo that works. I’ve enjoyed using wedges from Titleist, Mizuno, callaway, Cleveland, ping, and others and played decent golf with all of them. And some crap golf with all of them! I am a bit curious about the claims from Edison, though. Thinking about picking up a used one to try out.
Wedge grind is also key to type of course. Three examples: links courses, London clay courses and UAE course all have different below grass conditions. You may need different grinds and bounce
Wedges you like are important for sure. If you have a club(s) you personally, just do not like, the confidence suffers. Much of the game takes place in our minds to make or break our scores. To a larger or lesser degree, we are all like this. James, hope you shave a few strokes off the scores.
I’m trying the taylormade raw they get here Monday. I like that I know what vokey grind works for me but they tick me off that they charge extra for raw finish stamping color fill or what ever custom option you want and then charge shipping.
My SM9s felt so much better than the sm10. Returned the sm10 and currently trying out sub70 jb wedges and new levels wedge. The sub70 definitely get the most spin of the 3 and for half the cost
Tour distance average from hole normally the pins are tucked in the corners on tough courses. Chipping with the flag in the middle is not a fair comparison. Try hitting close to say the 2nd at the creek with flag back left for example.
I don’t understand why anyone would want a raw finish you said grey marked up!!! But these look horrible to my eye it would drive me mad but if you like it and they perform that’s all that matters 👍👍👍
James glad you have your wedges, however some honest context would be great. Titliest performance centre is £500 for a fitting for normal golfers on their website. So those raw wedges are £209 x 3 = £627 +£500 fit cost. Potentially £1127 for 3 wedges from the Titliest Performance Centre. So the video could be. Is a £500 wedge fitting worth it.
James, how often should one consider new wedges? I have an SM8 56 and an SM9 52. Only game those two and really haven't noticed a drop in performance. Any advice? Oh, by the way, I would love to see those when they rust up!
I have been a cleveland wedge player for years, till i tried the vokey sm10s 2 months ago. Had to get them and they play as good as they look i , got the 60 and 56 10 degree bounce in the satin black and yeah they are marking up but i dont mind i practice about 4x a week and i knew they mark up. But yeah they are just excellent.
It’s that the chrome plating doesn’t take up the space in the grooves and they can be really precise up to the limit of groove depth and have sharper grooves. The problem is that they wear out a whole lot faster than plates wedges
Your comment that Titleist has not really had raw wedges in the past is nonsense. They have always had raw finished wedges. The only difference is you pay a premium for them. Why I have no idea. I guess posers gotta pose!
Using a low bounce K grind wedge is about as controversial as it gets for me. Not a club I would EVER have even thought about using. Open your mind 👍🏼⛳️
@@JamesRobinsonGolf fair enough. Pretty OTT click-baity title for that concept though, don't you think? I enjoy your content - it's good - trust that it stands on it's merits without resorting to gimmicky titles.
Bro, name a club you don't have at this point LOL :)
james and chris will have to purchase an Amazon Size warehouse to store all the golf stuff
If I had a pound for everytime something
“Potentially” went into your bag I wouldn’t have to work! 😂
Still think the sugar daddy wedges are better but we are not all married to the same woman
I'd love 3 vokeys but it's £500 for 3 which is nuts. Just picked up 3 second hand mizuno t22s for less than 1 vokey. Makes no sense.

T 24 was this years winner for me. The oil can cooler is the coolest finish ever done
I can’t get my head around liking rusty clubs. Just makes them look old and battered to me.
I think most of us prefer it raw when it's an option.
Over rated wedges I sold my SM10 after 6 months felt like hitting a brick , gone back to ping glide and mizuno s23 as felt softer and spun more.

I’ve been playing a version of the Cleveland 588 for over 25 years, just has a softer feel to me than the Vokeys
I don't understand why people want rusty wedges. What is the attraction?
I like it. Wedges are workers. Too shiney just doesn’t work. Person thing
@@jeffnahass8373You like it because the pros do lol
rust adds roughness which aids in spin and workability
thats the theory at least
@@usmanfarooq96 pretty sure the extra spin thing has been debunked as nonsense.
@@usmanfarooq96 yeah that theory has been debunked it does not add extra spin unfortunately.
I just got the black nickel 56 & 60... the finish is crap, scratches already, I'd prefer rusty.
Surely you're carrying more than 14 clubs ??? Every club goes in the bag???

Show us the raw!….I use a cheap Wilson Harmonize 52 deg wedge around the green and love it, especially with a mid size grip.
Tour distance average from hole normally the pins are tucked in the corners on tough courses. Chipping with the flag in the middle is not a fair comparison. Try hitting close to say the 2nd at the creek with flag back left for example.
I have a 60° Callaway with really low bounce. I love it around the green and from up to 85 yards out.
I don’t understand why anyone would want a raw finish you said grey marked up!!! But these look horrible to my eye it would drive me mad but if you like it and they perform that’s all that matters 👍👍👍

Salt water will rust them up faster
Sm10 is definitely better then the sm9 on not going left as much squares up easier
Love those wedges. Fan of the raw finish.
Those bunker shots 👌

Hit it with some rust remover and a wire brush and raw finish...
Hasn't the raw better than chromed myth been busted?

I like the Takoma wedges better than all others
You best give us the follow up. Would also love a hi toe 4 review
I'll still be sticking to my Mizuno S5 wedges.
James one question do you have a comparable shaft in your wedges as you do in your irons? I see a lot of tour pros play a softer shaft
Had SM10 raw for 5 months they're fantastic but they are £50ish (RRP 230) a wedge more? As ever less is more. But worth the investment yes😊
What happened to the sugar daddy wedges?
" James what are they like raw " 😊
Yep was thinking that... shafts are as important as the heads if not more. No one really talks about the shafts in wedges.
Yeah I don't believe there's any any real data that raw wedges spin more do you like your clubs looking Rusty I have to say it's a great look
Tests have proven that rust has little to no effect on spin. Why would you want ugly clubs?
It’s personal preference isn’t it, no glare from the sun makes a big difference for me
@@JamesRobinsonGolf You get the same anti glare from satin finish.
And it a badge of honor

Comment three can you try out the Langer Wingman tour edge wedges they look awesome?
Is it even a wedge review - if you don’t mention Cleveland ?
SM10 wedges? Super controversial… I don’t know anyone who would bag Volkey wedges… 😒🤡
I don’t know ANYONE with a K grind low bounce mate…
@@JamesRobinsonGolf sure but that doesn’t make it controversial. Unique? Sure. Controversial? That’s a bit of a stretch.

What do they look like raw
What is the make up of you bag that you play with.
why is it controversial?
The raw finish?
The k grind?
The k grind?
Low bounce in a 60 degree lob wedge.
