Bye Bye Undereye Illumination vs Original: Is There a Difference? | It Cosmetics

- [EDIT: There is 12ml or product, not 20ml, sorry for the typo in the video!]
#ItCosmetics has launched their new #ByeByeUndereye Illumination #concealer which promises to be a full coverage, “Expression-proof”, anti-aging skin treat which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles while concealing imperfections without creasing.
To be honest the main difference in the formula (aside from the removal of microcrystalline wax) seems to be the inclusion of their “Drops of Light Technology”, which I assume is just a slightly more reflective blend of pigments. You get the same skin treatment benefits and full coverage in the original, and there is no new “technology” I could find in the formula.
So Marketing mambo-jumbo aside, I set out to test the two formulas against one another, and YOU can decide for yourself how this new one compares to the original, and if it is worth picking up.

Love your testing method, the expression test was really clever and extremely helpful for seeing how a product settle/crease.
I'm so sorry I totally missed your comment all those months back Beth! Just saw it and couldn't resist replying LOL. Thank you, and glad you find it useful for seeing how the product performs!
Amazing and detailed video! I have never seen anyone else with a crease test, thank you so much for that💓💓
I was studying the ingredients of the new It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Illumination concealer and shocked by the fact that it's 90-95% identical to the original. Texture and finish wise, there also does not seem to be a major difference. So if you like the original in the black tube, is there even a reason to check out this one? Sound off below and let me know what your experience was with either of these, if you tried them!
For some reason I got a pretty liquid one.
I was honestly not the happiest. I loved the original it was never creased on aging skin NEVER and the new one It was watery and creased. The black version. Will give another shot buying from their website. I have tried tons and nothing like the first formula that Jamie launched.
@@adrianaamione8177 Hi Adriana, sometimes their pigments separate a little after the tube has been sitting around a bit. I remember this happening with the older tubes (before the revamp). You might want to try and shake it up (I know it's hard cos it's so thick). It could be a defective batch where they didn't mix it well enough before packaging. Are you able to make a complaint to get a return or an exchange?
@@adrianaamione8177 From my conversation with the It Cosmetics team previously, they didn't change the formula, only packaging and shade expansion, and all my new tubes are that same thick cream, so my guess is you likely got a bad batch! I'd check with them first to see if they can get you an exchange before you purchase another one maybe!
Thank you for nice time with reviews
I love the illumination concealer with the laura mercier honey setting powder applied with mini sponge
Great review, thank you! 😊
Very interesting to see the two compared. The new one definitely looks more luminous and glowy, so definitely got more light reflective stuff going on there. But the original one has more coverage so it definitely gives a more even finish it seems. I have yet to try either of them, so I'll have to think about which one to get when I do get around to purchasing a concealer from It Cosmetics. I'm kinda leaning towards the Bye Bye Undereye Illumination one since I do like that kind of a lightweight but luminous finish. Btw they both look great on you and sometimes a simple look is a nice change of pace 😻💕💕 Haha the expression test got me chuckling 🤣 (also, random but my mum has that Pink Panther Mirror)
LOL pink panther mirror for the win! But yeah if you don’t need the heavier coverage and you don’t have a major issue with expression lines usually, the Illumination formula is much quicker to blend and gives an instantly brighter look!
Thank for sharing this video demo under eye concealer love how you close up to the wear crinkle test can will this work for mature dry skin should I apply moisturizer before apply bye bye concealer since it has a think consistency blending out the concealer for mature eyes if you have other videos on your channel other concealer you have very beautiful flawless skin if you have a skin care channel
Thank u for this comparison. I have both these in the original formula and they’re my daily undereye concealer (actually prefer to Cle De Peau or Shape Tape). I could never tell them apart haha so i use them interchangeably! Excited to try the new formulas once i am finish with my ones. ;)
Joanne Chew Haha no you are right!! They are so close that it’s about the same formula. Just slightly, slightly thinner for the Illumination one so it’s easier to sheer out. Otherwise it’s almost the same.
Sooo informative. Thank you!
Hi Toni, glad you liked it and thanks for watching! 😘
Great review!!! Thank you very much… loved the crinkle test… I wished I had your dark circles 🤣🤣🤣🤣 …because they are wonderful respect to my terrible hereditary dark dark dry Italian under eyes!!…. You are beautiful… subscribed !!!
I love bye bye under eye original..I use medium natural..and its the only product that lasts all evening .
Loved this video🙌
Thank you so much Ingrid!! Very glad you found it helpful!
Hi.. what is the best concealer for your under eyes?
This was exactly what I was looking for, thank you❤️
I also subbed because we have the same skin types haha
Glad you found it useful Misha!! And welcome!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the review. Can you recommend a good under eye concealer for under eye bag? Thanks!
Hi Grace, for bags, it's not really about using a different formula. It's more applying it in a different area! Make sure you apply a brightening concealer under the crease/fold where there is a dark shadow, and avoiding it where the eyebag swells out, because that makes the bag even bigger.
Wayne Goss has an old video where he demonstrates where to apply!

Makeup Box Thank you for responding so quickly! New sub! ❤️
Do these work as eye primers?
I prefer the original side which I already have 💕
🙌🏼🙌🏼 Seems a lot of people who already own and like the original don’t love the new one!
You have Medium 200? I coudent find any Medium followed by numbers. What color exactly were you using for the original (black one)?
Hi Maria, it's called 20.0 Medium! All the Medium shades are numbered from 20.0 - 25.5 in the current range. If you google for It Cosmetics on any of the Sephora sites, both the black and pink ranges have the same number and name system. In the old line it was just called Fair, Light, Medium, etc so if the stockist you are looking at now does not include numbers on the site or on the back of the tube, they might still be selling old or counterfeit stock and I would not buy from there!
@@IamCandiceKC Thank you! Yes might be old! Cause I checked on Cult Beauty and they had no numbers whatsoever.
What a pitty. Cause we have the same skintone so looking at your video I was like ‘Well, this is going to be easy.’ Only to find out that it isn’t ... 😞
What’s the brush you used with the powder?
Hi Jessica, that's a Laura Mercier Cheek Colour Brush! It's slightly flatter than the usual powder brushes, so I find it great for pressing a controlled amount of powder where I want without dusting a ton of powder all over the rest of my face. (That's if you want to look for similar shapes elsewhere.)
You have almost flawless skin to begin with..... No hyperpigmentation, scars, pimples, and very few wrinkles!
Thank you for the huge compliment Cindee!! Haha, the hyperpigmentation and fine lines are there, just not too visible on camera. (I spend more money on skincare than I do on makeup so I'm hoping to keep everything under control for several more years LOL!)
