Shouldn't the flight attendants know CPR in case of an emergency?
Liza N' yeah but there’s a million things going on and doing CPR can exhaust a person very quickly so it’s good to have more than one person
Liza N' eh
No this is spirit airlines now
We have to ask if there’s a medical professional on board before doing cpr

I used to fight over the window seat, and I don’t think I care that much anymore..

but you can survive a car accident if it isn’t that bad but 1 wrong move with a plane and your done
While not to diminish the pilots' amazing work, these passengers are amazing for what they did. Plane safety procedures are so precise so there isn't much room to do anything else. They disregarded it all and put their lives at risk to try and save another person's life. Beautiful souls.
Anyone else reading this comment while they were hero’s plz always listen to the safety instructions and the crews instructions 99% of the time they know what their doing and they have more experience then you
The people who tried to help Jennifer (most of them) were trained in what they were doing which is why they were allowed by the crew to help
Lillydog 591 what?
Also when security is secured, know we are trained to find willing and able passengers to help people who need the help. That’s the next step after safety. So everything happened accordingly and fortunately to what they were trained for and with amazing able passengers they did what they could do. It’s the rawest moments of life but that’s when all of the sudden everything else in the world doesn’t matter but team work.
So true :)

You pass out in under 20 seconds from lack of oxygen at the average cruising altitude of a passenger plane like that. My guess is she dies a super-fast death and was probably already gone when they were trying to pull her back in.

The windows near the engines should be reinforced or taken out completely
They are reinforced...
They are reinforced, and they also are shatter resistant. Also, shrapnel from an engine is not something that should happen if maintenance is kept up on the plane.
Metro City Bricks southwest maintenance is trash, 2 engine explosion, 3rd one is gonna be the big one.
" or taken out completely " then it would cost so much more to take a plane
Mark Rampersad- Yeah, you have a point. The point I was making was that planes tend to work almost flawlessly, and major accidents like this one cannot be attributed to a poorly designed or built plane. Maintenance is more likely to blame, and as you pointed out- Southwest has a poor record.

I don't think they trained for that
But they definitely trained in case of a ditching (water emergency by the way pretty rare pilots say they tend to avoid water landings at all costs and it's not the same as land)
They can also deliver babies on board
(Yes incident like this actually happened but don't worry they're rare too)
They're awesome trained in CPR and medical emergencies
They're not medical professionals though but they do know some medical skills
Enough to even save a life so if you get on a plane
Don't you worry because the flight attendants got your back unless you're actually told the scary words okay if I can't open this door you will open this emergency door
Then it's actually time
To listen to them
As when you you're the scary words a lot of responsibility is on your shoulders
But just keep in mind
They are not waitresses in the sky
They're there for your safety and as you might not like reclining your seat just keep in mind in case of an emergency
A requined seat can stop the person behind you to get into the into a special position which requires you to lean back and put your hands on your head
Also in case of turbulence (don't worry nothing to be afraid of
but in which case your head will travel further and and faster and they could be a more painful than it usually is
Also if you're going on board a plane
Every time the flight attendant tells you hi just say hi back
Anyways that's all I know or something yeah bye

Yes, we are taught. However we are not professional medics. In almost all accounts of medical emergencies we ask of there is a qualified medic on board. During that time, in this instance the crew would have had to prepare for emergency landing, do a cabin secure, update the captain on the structure if the plane etc, in a short space of time, keep in mind the flight deck need to do serious focus also cabin crew are human beings that cope with so much stress at times, so when we ask for help, it really means we need it, not because we can't do it.

People would ask: Why does God make suffering? But He doesn't. Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because they wanted to be their own God. So do we. We go about our lives in rebellion against God. Look at our world. The beauty. And the overwhelming suffering. It's due to our free will being used to rebel against God. Sin, death, suffering, and illness entered our world. Since we try to be God, our world is messed up and fallen. We trivialize lies, hate(considered murder with the heart in God's eyes) and all our other sins. But, God still loves us, so he made a way for us to be reconciled to Him. If we would just turn and give ourselves to Jesus, we would receive the Holy Spirit that would lead us to want to do good and not run to sin anymore. It'll break the desire for rebellion. Jesus suffered for our sins and offers our debt completely paid through Him, if we would just humble ourselves and agree that us rebelling is wrong. If we don't, we continue to cause suffering and will be given justice for every sin on judgement day. Eternal punishment is terrifying, yet we chose it. We must repent(agree with God that sin is wrong and turn from our sins) and have faith in Jesus.
You know you're truly saved if you're born again. Imagine a pen moving one way. That's us. Sinners prone to sin who have to put pressure on ourselves to go the other way and do what God wants. But we bounce right back when the pressure we apply is less. But, when born again, the pen goes the other way and the default is good. Having to put pressure on ourselves to go the other way again. "I'm not gonna forgive. Im not gonna help that person". Only to bounce right back because of the holy spirit's guidance. That is truly being born again. Youll know you belong to God. Flight Attendants are very trained in CPR. Why did the FA yell, "Is anyone trained in CPR?" Maybe, the FA meant to ask for Any Medical Personnel on board to render care?
BECAUSE she was needed everywhere else> Why dont you people get that??!!
Cpr doesn’t just work with one person, continuous compressions from only one person would exhaust them and they would have to stop. Good cpr takes a team of people working in shifts reviving the person for as long as possible, that’s why they asked for people who knew cpr
The Flight Attendants had a bunch of things to do, why not ask if anybody knows CPR and let them focus on that one task. It's not that complicated
The flight attendant had to do a lot of things for the passengers
It’s southwest that why they don’t have the money like delta
As much as I hate hearing stores like this, It makes me really happy in times like this to see and hear people really stepping up to help a person in need despite their safety.
Flight attendants learn CPR before they get their job -.-
The flight attendant probably needed someone else to handle compressions while she grabbed the first aide kit and AED, it's not like she could send a passenger to hunt it down

Planes are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much safer then cars and bikes. Your chance of dying in a plane crash is 1/11 million. And also, look at how many times there was an uncontained engine failure, almost never. All twin engine planes must be able to take off with only 1 engine, and they can! So you should truely feel extremely safe on a plane, and not safe in your car or boat

Explain ALL THE CAR CRASHES! Why is there not a huge investigation when there is a car crash? Is there a plane crash every day? NO! You clearly need to study your aviation facts! Also, 9/11 was a terrorist attack, not a plane crash... Learn the facts you idiot.

Smh reason why people sometimes don’t wanna go on an airplane
M8A1 The Scrubby they say that you’re more likely to get in to a car accident then a plane crash. Well, you’re more likely to survive a car crash then a plane crash!
Well, but you have to realize that this hardly ever happens. Your 97% more likely to get in a car accident than a plane. You have to realize how smart pilots are and that's why she landed that plane. I will always fly rather than drive.
Jason Dufresne I agree. In car crashes, there’s a likelihood you’ll survive. If a plane went down, you’re pretty much screwed.
but people die in car crashes at a significantly higher rate than plane crashes...

Marty and many others didn’t pay attention to the safety briefing. “PLACE THE MASK OVER YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH”
Here is something that you need to keep in mind, a decompression occurs when a hole in a pressurized aircraft occurs such as a window blow out like this. If you can picture the outside air and a negative force and the pressurized air as a positive force, when the window shattered the passenger was like a positive ion in a magnet being pulled towards the negative force. As long as there is a difference between air pressures there will be a suction pull. Depending on the altitude and pressure differences it could be 100’s of PSI. Nothing can free you from that vacuum pull. A great example to a decompression blow out such as this is when you blow up a balloon. The air inside the balloon is the cabin of the plane. The window is the knot on the tail. The outside is the exterior of the aircraft. When you let go on the tail of the balloon it forces the air out at great force like a vacuum sucking all the air out of the inside of the balloon. The same occurred when the window blew, pulling whatever it could grasp until the pressures equalized. The oxygen mask system in a aircraft monitors these pressures and if the psi drops low enough it triggers the mask drop sequence. I hope this explains how this happens to that poor lady. My thoughts for there family!
Very well and thoroughly explained Thank you. ❤ It's been 4 + years since this unfortunate accident happened. I pray that her family and loved ones are at peace. May she continue to rest in peace. 🙏🏾🕊

What kind of shit flight attendant doesnt know cpr? This story is so tragic.
Nicolas Bonny That's what I say. Very surprised. Actually, what do they know besides serving pop and booze? Because, whenever some jerk ( kids, mostly!) start kicking your seat in back, or some other assholes start shit...they don't do anything about that either!!!
If you have ever done compressions, you would know that you tire after a while. We switch off after 2 rounds of 30 compressions. If someone is fatigued during compressions, they will not compress at the kind of frequency and depth needed to resuscitate. If someone else around is trained in cpr it’s a very smart idea to utilize that. In fact, I’m blown away that she thought of it in a high stress situation like that.
If she did not perform cpr herself and just called out for someone else to do it, that is another thing entirely..
@@matteak4799 she did call someone to do CPR, the flight attendant didnt do it herself, only the EMT & RN switched.
Nicolas Bonny not her fault might of been southwest fault
Nicolas Bonny I thought they tech u that when you train to be a flight attendant that would be smart
"It was a comedy"
Thank you very much for the important story details. Very cool!
Noah Sno yea for real! I was thinking the same thing! 🙄
Tear up again watching this. Thank you for all the heroes on the plane. I feel so bad for her.
It's really lucky that the nurse and fire fighter we're on board
A fire fighter wouldn't be able to do shit
Yeetu they can help some things
Why the flight attendant d ok not know CPR wtf
Like actually that’s a 1% odd of luck that I know I would never have
@@nitewolf948 Not really. Those are rather common jobs, so it wouldn't be rare to have both of them at the same time on a plane that big.
Reading through other comments I have noticed that people are saying its the airlines fault. Its not, they had no way to detect a fault in an engine that was running perfectly routine until that moment. The company General Electric that manufactured may be negligent but not Southwest. people also need to remember that the Boeing 737-700 and its engine series are ageing and a more prone to incidents like this which is why airlines like Southwest, Virgin Australia and Delta are phasing them out of their fleet in favour for the 737-800/900 or the new MAX series, also cabin crew are trained in CPR and first aid they just require extra people to assist.
Liam Critchlow they aren't prone to have more engine failures, as the engines might be brand new, an aircraft during it's lifespan will at least change engine 1
Liam Critchlow you’re right
Hey! What a coincidence, I flew on the 737-700 plane on emirates international flight. I made it!
Engines are designed to be self contained if they blow up, and planes are usually able to land safely on the one remaining engine. One little piece of shrapnel escaped and just happened to hit the window.
First off, here's what happened. The cowling was completely destroyed (engine cover). The explosion was self-contained to an extent. But the cowling was completely destroyed.
Yeah except this wasn't just one piece of shrapnel. It went down the leading edge of the wing, another piece struck the tail, and several pieces slammed the fuselage. So. Can't really engineer around that kind of damage and impact all on the same side as the dead engine.
It’s been years since this happened and I still can’t believe this. I feel so horrible for Jennifer and her family’s Thank God for the people who ran to her help and the woman who had her hand on her back. I pray that she felt no pain or suffered as she felt a loving hand on her back. I couldn’t imagine!
I just had a flight from Baltimore to Los Angeles , then to Vegas two weeks ago and this was the on my mind the whole time.
Her and her loved ones are all in my prayers!

And that’s why I fly delta
Why?
Southwest is superior. Lowest rate of crashes within any American airline
Caden kmieciak samee
I fly delta,spirit,or JetBlue lmao
Fly Finnair its one of the safest airlines and had 0 crashes and if something happens the pilots handle in Finnair.

This is why delta and JetBlue are ur best friends
{Saturn Chan} they have a higher chance of crashes southwest has a lower crash rate
i take jetblue all the time, ive only taken southwest once. very smooth flight :)
Kermit Da Frog Oof never
Airline VERY rarely plays a role in crashes. Southwest uses the 737, which Delta uses frequently, along with many other airlines like UA, AA, And almost every major carrier . Only way an airline could be involved is if it's a maintenance issue with the regular checks. Then it is. otherwise, it is usually manufacturer, or other factors like a birdstrike or weather
What are you smoking?
It’s crazy that there are all these people who are talented and educated to help. A nurse and a firefighter on the plane. That’s awesome
I knew Jennifer and all I can say is she was the most loving person I have ever met I still can’t believe it’s been a year I miss her so much
This isn’t a situation where you have an emotion. this is the situation where you can’t feel anything because its that horrible. this is definitely a flight that will give people flashbacks for the rest of their lives 😕
I think before going on a plane ppl should get parachute just in case
Colianci that’s stupid. do you know how dangerous it would be to have 100+ people parachute at once. people in real life who skydive in large groups like that literally need months or years of training to learn how not to collide into others in the sky. not to mention the fact that you would get sucked out the door even if you managed to open it, which you can’t while you’re flying because the pressure on the door is too strong
Parachuting in that height isn’t possible.
oops i did it again but lol yes it is skydiving from any height is always possible lmao
Frontwardcube
"Altitudes above, probably, 18,000 feet would be dangerous for someone to exit and immediately deploy a parachute," Crouch tells Condé Nast Traveler. "Supplemental oxygen is required for skydivers starting at 15,000 feet while riding up in an airplane, since the planes used for skydiving are not pressurized."
Lol wut
Much respect people who tried helping. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
That woman and man are heros
I’m absolutely thankful these people are still here 🙏🏼❤️ bless everyone who helped each other
These people I just feel absolutely for them. They did everything they could. My heart goes out for them and the person who passed.
This story still gives me chills. There are so MANY kind and loving people in our country. I believe that MOST of us are good. We can all use that reminder these days. ❤
I believe everyone is a good person.

The bravery of ordinary people in a emergency is remarkable ! You see it time after time .
Rest In Peace Jennifer, and I'm hoping her family is in comfort in this hard time.
I sat in 14A before and before the plane even took off I was scared that the engine would just suck me in. Bless that beautiful woman.

The time of useful consciousness at those heights is very minimal, how are these guys remembering things and helping each other out. Incredible
Gemmy H useful consciousness, 30 secs before you get hypoxia, don't understand either
After surviving and seeing something like that I would be in therapy for years!!!
“Started watching a movie... it was a comedy” .....because that was important to know 😒

Hunsuck-O- Rama there is a link in the description and it’s at around the 17 minute mark that the story continues. Be warned though...there’s about 100 ads throughout the video.
Shannon Alexander Wow! Thank you SO much for thinking of me and remembering to notify me!!! This is a huge day in internet history, to get a nice message that because someone was courteous enough to remember and take the time, and it was absent any mean, awful epithets or anger - THIS is big!!!

Hunsuck-O- Rama not a problem at all. I asked the same question to myself at the end of the video, so thought I would share the knowledge. If there is something I can’t stand, it’s an unanswered question.
