Im not sure if youve noticed or mentioned it before but compared to the s23 series the oversharpening of the image has been slightly reduced, you might still want to add the medium sharpening toggle depending upon your taste but its a nice step in the right direction for the processing. I also hope you'll be able to get a review unit of some of the BBK owned phone brands as well as Xiaomi in the future but nonetheless i look forward to your future content. Keep up the great work 👍
Just 2 big issues: ExpertRAW is broken and creates artefacts in lowlight images ProMode DNG is totally messed up and has 0 capacity for shadow and highlight recovery (while a dng taken with Motioncam is fine).
all i know it reduce the sahrpening of post processing and not softening the image , kinda a misleading name but put it on medium for my s22+ and it is far better and more natural specially in indoors lights in the blured background you will see it is smooth and less noise
I don't know if you or anyone else can answer this, but... I've got an S24+ and I've taken three identical shots of different things in 12mp and 50mp. All in HEIC. The 50mp not only look better, but are of SMALLER file size. How is this possible? They are identical photos taken within a second, but without fail the 50mp ones are always smaller. Sure it's a small sample size, but how could 50mp photos of the same thing with MORE detail be so much smaller than 12mp ones? Makes me feel like there's no point to even going with 12mp.
I'm a beginner and your video helped me get started with my S24. I'll probably have to come back and listen again. 😊 And yes, I would love help with settings for video recording, too.
so are you seriously saying that, as a professional photographer, you can achieve MASSIVE potential with the s24U? How many photos did you open on a larger screen? How many times did you zoom in? You really didn't see the MASSIVE amount of noise that these lens produce?
I struggle with taking good pics in low-light as well as when the light or sun is behind the subject with my Samsung phones. What are the best settings for dark skinned people in low light or when light or sun is behind the subject?
I have but one question about this camera...do I have any control over the aperture? Because I see the F number on the side, but I don't seem to be able to change it.
To me it seems like the photos come out like.. overexposed? And the colors not really matching what I see if I use the HDR - any suggestions? E: Ok, so after more testing it looks like the images are taken OK, but then the 4 dots turn on the image in the gallery, and blow the contrast to the moon... but the Auto HDR and scene optimization was off? So what's at fault here, what's doing the processing?
Hi I am going to go see the Northern Lights in Iceland - what setting do you suggest I use to take pics and video -nighttime? Want to get the best pics - thx
I'm having the issue that in dark environments it turns the picture as if it was taken at day. I'm trying to get like a good night shot without the sky turning bright
Really nicely done video, Tom...appreciate your time, expertise and presentation style! I'm (still) using a S22U with One UI 6.0...just can't justify the move up to a S24U...yet. Hoping that 6.1 will bring out some additional features when it rolls out later this year. In your setting in Camera Assistant, for "auto lens switching" (which you had set to off, because you're a pro!)...for novice/intermediate shooters, would you recommend on or off? Finally, based on your knowledge and presentation style, I bet you could do a bang up job with a "Shooting in Expert RAW" tutorial...any chance of that? 🤔😉 Cheers!
I'm on the fence between the s24 ultra and the s24. The thing that will tip the scale is the difference between photo's. Do you have a view of the quality of photos and the flexibility in post processing between both?
Do yourself a favor and don't buy either one. I switched from s20 to s24 ultra and I'm extremely disappointed. The camera is absolute trash. You will be better getting pixel or any other android flagship

Hello Tom! Is it possible to change the camera colour profile to shoot in automatic mode? If yes, is it possible to apply that change to be ready, everytime we turn on the camera? Thanks a lot.
Hi Tom! And thank you so much for your videos!! I got a question about the S24 ultra battery > I went for on outdoor photo session, and it sucked 100% out of the battery in 5 hours! (no wifi, no bluetooth, no extra app but phone & gallery) Did you have similar experience?
I complained to Samsung about this this morning. They told me that the phone will get used to how I use it and adapt. I made them aware that I have had it for less than a week and it switched itself off as well.
@@michaelramasimong1855 Hello Michael! Thank you for your answer ! I also called Samsung support who advised me to return the phone for repair. I should get it back in about ten days. I also heard about this “the phone will learn” I hope this will work for you! Can you keep me informed here of the progress of your problem?
In the gym, the phone does not seem to handle the lighting correctly. Like if im recording myself lifting weights, the muscle detail disappeares, and if there is a light above me the video comes out kinda washed out. Any of you gym goers got any tips? I have messed with the settings and cant figure it out
another add - -> use 3:4 ratio, so this is what the sensor is getting in order to get 50MP (16:9 gets 37MP) or 200MP (16:9 gets 128MP) it feels like it is cropping, but all other modes are cropped!
This is really helpful, thank you! Do you also have a video about the S24U video setting? Wondering how to maximize the pro video for a concert setting. 🙏
Pro setting is only for professionals with addional gear like tripod, ND-filter, mikes, etc. For shooting from the audience, handheld, you will have the best results in standard video. Best shutterspeed/ISO combinations, fast switching between focal lengths and good stabilisation. Of course you can use Pro Mode and set it at auto-shutterspeed and auto-ISO, but that has no advantages over the standard Video mode. In strongly varying lighting conditions the Promode wil give you under-exposed (with fixed low ISO) or over-exposed (with fixed low shutterspeed) video. Lens/sensor quality is not better in Promode.
ProRaw is really good in low light, it’s literally making night into day when the moon is out. The sky is blue and all the other things have the right colour and brightness(when your iso or exposure is right). Sadly many reviewers and People don’t know this and Samsung also doesn’t seem to be to interested in the incredible performance.

I have the new S24 Ultra and when I take a picture at 200MP, then I swipe up on the picture to show the pictures information, it shows that the picture was only 123MP. Would you know why?
Did you increase the zoom from the 1x? Because it still allows you to increase but you lose resolution . Though it should say 50mp not 123mp. I just tried on mine and it said 200mp so if it's not that I'm sorry I couldn't help.
10:07 - Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra actually produces much better picture quality in 50MP mode instead of 200MP. It's especially obvious in harsh lighting conditions where it needs better HDR processing.
Does auto hdr in camera assistant work with 50mp mode or only the 12mp mode? Does it also work in selfie mode? Can anyone please let me know. I feel auto hdr does not do a great job anyways
Nice video as always! I really appreciate a video with the "Video" settings. Can you investigate the 8k mode? Also I do quite a bit of macro photography with my 24 U but do you have any tips that I should know about. I do have an slr but find I use the phone more.
I have both iphone 15 PM and s24 ultra. I shit u not, from all the reviews that said that samsung has come neck on neck with iphone, blatantly lied. I was thinking of switching entirely to s24U as my primary device and i really liked the rest of the features but the straight up awful photos was just a big turn off for me.
Unfortunately does the name Professional not mean that professional settings are better. It indicates that the user is a professional and uses ND filters, a tripod, microphone, etc. Professional Mode: with not too much light you can set the speed fixed at double-frame rate and ISO can be set in auto mode. Problem: with too much sun there will be overexposure. Other way: Set the ISO as low as possible (25 ISO) and speed automatic. Problem: with little light there will be underexposure. Standard Video setting solves these problems, although you can in Promode also set ISO en shutterspeed to automatic. Anyone can do a simple test. Promode: Make a video while slowly moving the phone from within a not too bright room to a window facing outside sunlight (1 minute). Speed and ISO at auto. Standard Videomode: Make the same footage (1 minute) Compare the two and you will see a difference. My personal experience: the standard Videomode is better, especially while Promode had more overexposure of the bright areas.

You get the true RAW only in the pro mode of the native app. The expert raw app gives you an edited RAW
It seems to me that Samsung does not have the raw format natively, since even the expert raw app is computational, it is not the best

Standard Videomode: Make the same footage (1 minute)
Compare the two and you will see a difference.
My personal experience: the standard Videomode is better, especially while Promode had more overexposure of the bright areas.
Thanks for this excellent video is it possible you could do one for the Google Pixel 6 pro?

It's on the Galaxy Store I went in search tab on my phone and type camera assistant scroll all the way down and it shows which app you have to download i think was named Good Lock something but now I have that camera assistant tab now😊
Why my camera stays on 12mp instead 200 like the last shot settings
I cant find the camera assistent app though

Great video!

Great decision I also returned mine S24U
