Since my name is Fausto (spanish for Faust), I have always had an interesting relationship with this book. I read it for the first time when I was twelve years old, and although I was barely able to understand it's contents, I began to see it as my own book. I started acting like the character and would recite random sentences I thought sounded cool. I have probably read the book at least ten times. My obsession with this story has long been left behind, but from time to time it presents itself upon me, as a reminder of it's lessons. Although I wouldn't call it my favorite, no other book has had as much impact in my life as Faust.

Thank you for this, not overly simplified, but not too complicated either :) I love Faust

I read Faust in 2022. Part 1 I was like, "Aight, that's pretty cool." Part 2 was just one long WTF? XD I can really respect Goethe's imagination, although I still don't understand why Faust got to go to Heaven in the end. :/

I'm from Luxembourg and we have to read Faust (pt1) in German class (we have to learn French and German in school, our native language is Luxemburgish which is close to German though) and our German teacher read it aloud and kinda performed the whole thing. Had a great time and it's one of my favourite books that I had to read in school, but most of the other students hated it 😅 Glad you also enjoyed it!

Happy to see some love for Faust from a non-German speaker! I always thought the various underwhlemed reviews here on RUclips were caused by something being lost in translation, but this translation seems quite nice
