Great video guys. Have watched numerous model x clips but this is the first time I've gotten a real good look at its overall shape. Loved the shots and music. Was hunting the drone reflection and didn't spot it till 2.59, ha, crafty. To be honest I feel the model x looks more like a sleek minivan than suv. Over here we'd call it a people carrier, which is now widely being replaced by crossovers.
+Doge Decoco, but not enough to meet the needs of the US (Net importer). Low oil prices has caused a lot of US oil drillers to go out of business and people have lost their jobs. The new oil in the US (Shale oil) is too expensive to produce. And therein lies the peak oil production problem: New oil is only economically viable at higher prices.
I don't know how some people find the Model X to be ugly. I don't find that to be the case at all. What I find, rather, is that the Model X does not look completely like an SUV. In terms of design it looks part minivan and part SUV....A blend of both. But, to my eyes, it is not ugly at all!
+tmat04 But do you find it to be MORE attractive than the alternatives? I have a Model S and 3 years in, I still stop to admire it sometimes. There are few cars on the road that are straight out prettier. That isn't the case with the Model X. Just in its crossover SUVs alone, there are half a dozen prettier cars. And those are not exactly considered pretty cars themselves. That's fine when you buy a $40K minivan. But when you START at $75K, your expectations are higher. I've had a deposit down for almost 2 years. I still haven't pulled the trigger. I just saw one in person a few weeks ago. Turns out the interior is better than I expected and just MAY make up for the exceptionally not-pretty exterior. But now I'm waiting for the Model 3 announcement in case prices drop after that.
Henry Tuttle Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, my friend! It is subjective. I recently saw a video of which a young woman (host of a show) stated that she didn't like the looks of the Model S sedan. "It looks too funky," she said. And there are a few folks that I've met (one of which is a close friend) who stated that they are not impressed with the looks of the Model S. They argue that the Model S looks too plain or ordinary. Personally, I think the Tesla Model S is easily one of the better looking sedans on the Market. And, to my eyes, it has the best looking rear end of any sedan. I prefer the looks of its rear end better than that of the Aston Martin Rapide (although by a close margin). When I saw comparision videos between the Tesla Model S and BMW i8, I felt the Model S looked better. Although the i8 has those air scoops towards its rear, its overall design still appear BOXY, compared to that of the Model S. Aesthetically, sedans that have curves that symbolizes "hips," gratify my senses more or better. I do not find them to look plain or ordinary, at all! But, there's no denying that the overall looks of the i8 improves when its doors open. And, who knows, my opinion may change when I get to see the i8 in the flesh. But when you have a sedan that is within the price range of a coupe and looks better, that is saying something. Why do I say that? Because designers generally have a bigger or greater challenge with the platform of a sedan than they do with a coupe. And the same is true when you compare a coupe or sedan with an SUV/minivan/crossover. The Model S should look better than the Model X. In, generally, one should expect sportscars, coupes and sedans to look sportier than minivans and SUVs. Now, that certainly doesn't mean you can't find an SUV on the market that appeal to you more than some cars do. As a minivan I think the Model X looks best amongst those I've seen. But, to my eyes, it is not the best looking amongst crossovers and SUVs. Still, If money wasn't a factor for me, I would purchase the Model Model X over any other crossover or SUV, in a heartbeat. "But when you START at $75K, your expectations are higher." While I would agree that the Model X's design could've been better, the real question is how HIGHER can one's expectations get when you're talking about that sort of platform? I don't think it gets that much higher. I thought the designers at Tesla did a great job with the Model X, when you take into consideration that it is the company's first SUV, and that Tesla is still a "baby" in the automotive industry.
There are so many positives with this vehicle. What an exciting time ahead of us. Looks like the large front windscreen provides the sunroof feel. Nice.
Those Doors! was so excited about them but now think they are horrible. They severely limit your functionality :( you can't have a roof rack. another bummer is that the 2nd row does not store flat as they claim but just go forward about half way - which means if you want to ...you could not throw your bike in the car either. they do have a hitch so as long as you're not afraid to leave your expensive bike on your back you are good. I am not.
I just had a friend cancel his reservation when he was disappointed at the amount of space in the "SUV SPACE" for the Model X. He calls it a people carrier, as some others have noted. I would have taken his reservation to put the X with my Model S but that is a little to pricey.
+heartbietz, I'm not sure if i believe that, since the 2nd and 3rd row seats move and fold to make a truck bed size space. I'm sure it would have more space if it was boxy like a cargo van, but thankfully its not. insideevs.com/unique-tesla-model-x-rear-seatstorage-setup-revealed/
Good point. From what I can tell, it would make it much easier for kids to get in and out of the car without swinging their doors into the cars next to you. At least in my experience with 3 yound kids, I'd prefer my kids have twice as much room for entering and exiting the vehicle as I do. Anyone who has owned a minivan could probably relate...
Oh and the falcon wing doors open differently based on what is next to the car. For instance, if you park 13 inches away from a car, the doors move up before they move out... This is why the doors are double hinged. They only need 30 centimeters of clearance
+EPSTomcat11 Honestly, it's because they are way cool. They could have just put in standard mini-van style doors, but those weren't cool enough. I'm just picturing years of problems with them. Tesla's service on my Model S has been excellent, but I'd rather have less fancy door that are more reliable and save some money. But no one asked me.
+Jamaal Phillips Go to Tesla`s web-site and build your own car. Then sell your house as a deposit for one lol. Seriously Jamaal, use their site and lay down your spec and you will get to a price. Sincerely JF ( UK )
Cheap in a lot of countries. Insanly quick. Good range. Pretty practical. Good looking. Fuel alsmost costs nothing. Just to epic I will definitly do my best to get one of these.
I get thats in electric vehicle and good on the company for going mass production on their second triumph but I still don't understand the hype and the dropping jaws, its just another vehicle that I'll see on the road and point out like hey its one of those things and then go about my daily business. But I probably won't point it out every time maybe once or twice, can someone explain to me the big hype?
+john cramer Depends on your definition of off-road. No, it won't have the clearance of a Jeep. But it does have probably the best all-wheel drive of any SUV. Dual-motor all-wheel drive is extremely powerful. And adjustable suspension allows for pretty high clearance. But I doubt most owners would focus on the sort of tires that would cater to off-road driving, as the SUV is built for far more than a little off-road detour.
Have computers reached the point in their development where they can be trusted to safely drive a car? I certainly don't think so, and there are many who will agree with me on this. Elon Musk is being way too over-optimistic in thinking and believing that his cars can actually drive themselves. Sure they can drive themselves - but can they do it safely and reliably? The three recent crashes involving Tesla automobiles operating in the "Autopilot" mode serve as a poignant reminder to all of us, that even the most sophisticated computers of this time still "glitch out" and do things like randomly pausing and intermittently locking up and requiring a re-boot. If you look at the long list of consumer complaints involving Tesla automobiles, among these complaints is: the display screen in the car - which controls all of the vehicle's functions - intermittently "freezes”. The bottom line here is that the NTSB needs to be Fully Cognizant of the Fact that computers are far from the "Prime Time" in their technological evolution, where they could reasonably be considered ready to reliably handle the demanding task of safely and properly driving an automobile. And to this end - the NTSB needs to completely ban the use of the “Autopilot” drive function on all automobiles, until computers are ready for prime time - which at the very minimum, would be 5 to 10 years from now.
Fool, thanks for explaining the falcon wing doors. A lot of people do not understand them.
+Killroy glad you enjoyed the way I described them. Thanks!
game changer!!

Well done. I want one of these. It's so eye catching. Even without the doors being open I think it's still stunning
Let's get rid of the arab oil.
+dcx We still need to get those fully loaded 747 Jumbo Jets off the ground.
+Doge Decoco. I said Arab oil.
+Doge Decoco It's white surpremecy. He doesn't care what oil prices are, he just wants to starve the Arabs of everything they've got.
+Captain JG survival of the fittest. It's nature's way.
+Doge Decoco, but not enough to meet the needs of the US (Net importer). Low oil prices has caused a lot of US oil drillers to go out of business and people have lost their jobs. Elon Musk is the man!
Can someone explain the point of the falcon wings if the two front doors still open out?
Good point. From what I can tell, it would make it much easier for kids to get in and out of the car without swinging their doors into the cars next to you. It's a step in the right different. It doesn't completely resolve the problem but it's a start.

falcon door does not make a car an SUV, stop the hype, it's a family car
It seats up to 7 and has more storage space than similarly sized SUVs
+Daniel Sparks Can it go off-road? NO It's more a minivan, ... it's bad business when you market something as something that it is not ...
+john cramer But yet your here talking about it. Sounds like good business to me.
